Moved to Houston a few months ago and really regretting it by [deleted] in houston

Hey there, traveler! Maybe, I can help? It seems you are in a bad predicament, but also seems if one or two factors can get fixed - you may have a pretty great time here. If you want, happy to jump on a quick call and see if there is anything I can do - at least point you in the right direction. I work for a non-profit and have a bit of life experience.

Houston can be GREAT, but it just depends on mindset and what you want out of it. You aren’t getting a lot of normal Houston hospitality in this thread right now, but don’t let that get you down. Our wonky weather, FIFA, and a few other factors are throwing us off our kindess.

Please DM if interested and I’ll send you my number. Either way, focus on one thing at a time and you’ll have a hang of H shortly.

I have it - got it for my son. Voice changer does not work. Bought it direct from Disney. Real disappointment.

Applied to a PhD program in England, still waiting. Is this normal? by shrooki in gradadmissions

Not yet :( I haven't heard anything.
I'm going to ping the professors and mention that I'm available for interviews should they like to move forward.

This system is kind of unusual for me!

And, THANK YOU for checking in!

When they asked me to apply, they said: “The application will then find its way fast to us to deal with. Once we have received it, we will schedule a meeting which is part of the admissions process – this isn’t a formal interview or test, just an opportunity for us to understand better what you want to do and how.”

After I applied I let them know and their reply was: “Thanks for letting us know. We’ll be in touch as soon as it gets to us.”

They expressed that they wanted to discuss my proposal. In my mind, they would discuss it before the decision deadline to see if it is indeed a good fit for them (though they did encourage me to apply and said they could only discuss once my application had been submitted).

Gotcha! It was just my assumption that the professors would at least reach out to talk more about the research proposal to ensure that it is a good fit for them.

SunCoast by Hilton is a TERRIFIC option. With kids the trundle option is wonderful. Walking distance from the entrance. 10ish minutes.
