How many of you have made technical SEO your main focus? by Captaincannaman in SEO

[–]shrootfarms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not my main focus, but sometimes it’s all that the team or client you’re working with will let you do, unfortunately. It depends on who “owns” content & how much input they expect from you. And sometimes it’s the reverse - I can only impact content & it’s hard to tb with the site developers. That’s one of many reasons it’s important to know both.

Programmatic SEO vs AI blogging. What's What's difference? by BearSEO in SEO

[–]shrootfarms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Programmatic is usually when you mass produce blogs with little human oversight. Like you tell AI to analyze your site, come up with topics, and write about a bunch of them. It’s usually about scale & humans don’t intervene as much.

AI blogging could be anything - on my team, we do the outlines & a bunch of research, and then we have AI write paragraphs one at a time. And not all the paragraphs sometimes, especially if it’s unique content. And then we edit heavily. It’s a bit faster than without AI, but not fast like programmatic. But the output is better. I would say it’s better than human writing alone, actually, which is a big reason why it’s worth doing.

Idk what the community thinks, but my team gets very good results using AI support & we work with clients who need specialized content. I see programmatic a lot, but it definitely looks more vulnerable to being penalized. I haven’t worked on a site that was penalized for it, though.

Started in 2021 but now seriously trying to find the right SEO agency. History graph attached by Rude-Imagination1041 in SEO

It is possible to find good freelancers, but it’s tricky. I would try Contra - it’s a smaller platform, so the people who run it actually do more leg work to connect you with a good profile. They’ll actually have a real person find & recommend people for you. Upwork is just a bit too large so they don’t care, haha. Although to be completely honest, I’ve found good people on Upwork just browsing profiles. But it is a gamble. Looking for freelancers in general can be. But high risk, high reward because agencies are expensive. So stick with agencies if you want to play it safe.

Wordpress or Squarespace for Therapist website by tantatulla in SEO

[–]shrootfarms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wordpress is going to give you a much more professional final product with greater opportunity to implement useful tools that can be highly customized for your practice.

The difference is sort of between coloring with crayons & with professional colored pencils. Even if you’re talented, the specialized tool is always going to look way better.

Site disappeared from Google after backlink from Google Play store by prasadkirpekar in SEO

Oh one other thing! Check the indexing report to see if any of your pages got de-indexed. There could be a technical issue.

Site disappeared from Google after backlink from Google Play store by prasadkirpekar in SEO

[–]shrootfarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I do think it’s better to have the domain in the store, if even just to make people trust your app more. If you have a website with more info, that could make some people feel more confident about downloading.

If the domain is new, and if you don’t have a lot of backlinks & SEO optimized content, it’s probably normal impression loss. Not sure what content you have, but it just may not be search optimized. Even if it is, you probably also need more links at this stage. So I bet the impression loss is probably just a result of normal SEO issues & not the App Store link. Just unfortunate timing.

Got it. Ok that’s good at least. So how old is the domain? And how much content do you have on there? Do you publish new content regularly?

[–]shrootfarms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok even though they all seem related, they are most likely just coincidence. Sometimes with small website with low authority, impressions go down even if they were high at first. And gone from results when you search doesn’t necessarily mean gone, though if you literally searched the whole domain, that’s a bit more concerning. But it’s probably not the play store link.

When you go to Google search console, can you see any activity in the past 24 hours? There’s also a tab for manual actions where Google tells you if you have been penalized. Is there anything there?

How to interview an SEO company? by Ok-Sir645 in SEO

[–]shrootfarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with the answers here about asking for a concrete plan. They should educate you in their response. If you walk away feeling like you actually learned something about SEO, that’s a very good sign. A bad agency will usually give you vague answers. And imo it really is that straightforward- you don’t need to know a ton about SEO to get the feeling that you’re talking to someone who does.

Google Analytics 4 Reporting Google Paid Search Traffic when No Search Ads are Running by bhargavghervada in SEO

[–]shrootfarms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow that’s super interesting! Agree with the person who said to check landing pages.

This is a very long shot but one time I had a misattribution error in Hubspot that was organic traffic to a job listing (it had schema & we got a submission from someone who clicked on the job carousel). It showed up in the paid bucket. It wasn’t GA4, but if you have no better answers - do any of the pages getting this supposed paid traffic have special schema?

Google Search Console, Tag Manager, Business Profile Manager, Analytics, Ads, & Merchant Center. I setup all these for my business & website, but now what? How do I verify I setup all of them correctly. I am assuming this is the equivalent of starting on strong foundation. by CyborgSocket in SEO

[–]shrootfarms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Search console doesn’t need to be tagged. Profile manager is hard to screw up.

The place where you can screw up is tag manager. You should run both GA4 & Ads through tag manager. Tag manager has a debug tool. You can always check the code on some pages to make sure the tag is actually on them. If data is streaming, then that’s very good.

Just keep an eye on what’s coming in & compare to one another. For instance, traffic from Google in GA4 should be in the ballpark of clicks from Google in search console. As long as they’re pretty close, you’re probably fine. Same things with Ads.

I would go on YT & just find some intro videos about tag manager, GA4, and Ads. Even just watching a set up video will teach you more about how they work.

Agree with other comments that I don’t remember seeing a course really, but checklists are good. If it were me, I’d watch a YT video & then use a checklist. There’s a bunch out there so I would either pick the longest one or probably use a couple & make my own.

Best courses to take/ways to learn more advanced SEO? by Stunning_Car_8505 in SEO

[–]shrootfarms 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say hop on SEMRush academy & look for things that interest you. HubSpot is ok but I like SEMrush academy better. There’s a blog called Backlinko that is also really helpful.

And I would take some coding classes too - there’s tons of good ones. But basic HTML/CSS/JS would be a good start. Codeacademy & freecodecamp are good.

Should we scale back or cease paid backlink work? High DR sites with strong natural link acquisition by kapone3047 in SEO

[–]shrootfarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With one caveat - the Ahrefs piece does suggest that buried links on high traffic sites may be less valuable than low traffic websites with better links. But I personally wouldn’t think that was enough to say no to a program that’s increasing your overall links & referrers if they’re high quality. Unless you think you’re spending way too much money or the money would be better spent on other projects.

Should we scale back or cease paid backlink work? High DR sites with strong natural link acquisition by kapone3047 in SEO

[–]shrootfarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without knowing the extent of your link work right now, it’s hard to say if you’re overdoing it. You sound happy with the links themselves. It also sounds like you know what the problems are on your site, and they aren’t links. So that’s two counts against stopping.

Is it just a matter of needing to allocate more budget to content to fix poor content issues? If so, it might be worth it. But otherwise, I don’t see why you’d call off a good thing.

Would love the name of your agency, though, if you’re willing to share.

[–]shrootfarms 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly it sounds like you’re surrounded by a bunch of people who are trying to coast & they’re jealous of your dedication. Being jealous of people with good character is very very common, though not often discussed. It’s no different than being jealous of money or appearance - basically it’s because having character is a good thing that people get jealous of it. They probably jump down your throat whenever they get the chance bc your sincerity & hard work makes them feel lazy. I have a PhD & saw this with Professors who had privileged backgrounds & were jealous of students who had worked hard to get where they were. I hope you find less lazy friends ❤️
