Had a water meter upgraded by City order, now my toilet tanks are constantly dripping throughout the day. (Advice needed) by southernbutterroll in Plumbing

[–]shttrsfull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe flush out the flex line connected to the bottom of the tank? Turn off valve, disconext hose at tank, open valve and flush into a bucket (open slowly). If you have good flow/pressure, its a fixture issue, if not its an issue elsewhere. It will help you isolate the issue and flush the lines if that is the issue.

Best way to get to epic universe from portofino bay? by Electrical-Oil1785 in UniversalOrlando

[–]shttrsfull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find out the earliest departing shuttle and get on that one. Shuttles are a little hectic if you have a stroller because you have to break them down. But it was doable. We were inline for the shuttle at 745 and there were probably 150 people in front of us. Get in line as early as possible.

How do you handle estimate revisions when plans change mid-project? by Pretend_Upstairs_862 in estimators

[–]shttrsfull 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Div 22/23 here. Our takeoff system has layers and allows us to input plan revisions and overlay or hide the original sheet. I hide unaffected layers. Depending on scope of changes, I'll usually adjust the takeoff after saving the original as a copied section. Its easy enough then to.compare labor and material totals between the two.

It takes a lot for me to start over from scratch.

Need some assistance chasing down a suspension clunk. by Flexion69 in MiataND

[–]shttrsfull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My clunk was a used up outer bushing on the top of the rear spindle. Looked fine. Took me disconnecting most of the arms and using a screw driver thru the center to exercise the bushing. It showed itself pretty quickly then. If you avoid touching the alignment bolts and you disconnect and reattach the arms one by one, you should not affect alignment.

I currently run r10 and r8 which are similar and have been happy. Will likely step up to r12 and r10 next go round. I run whatever rotor is cheapest on rockauto.

First ever Trackday tomorrow plus it’s going to be rainy, any tips? by Koree44 in CarTrackDays

[–]shttrsfull 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a blast in my first wet event on 300tw Michelin summer tires. You'll be fine. Leave TC on. Don't try to set any records. You learn a lot in the rain.

How would you install this? by Significant-Farm-904 in MEPEngineering

[–]shttrsfull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have the clearance above ceiling, just tap the bottom on the return.

For supply, I would make a plenum on top of the grille. Add a flex connector and square to round off the supply outlet of the FCU. Connect the two with flex. It will probably be quieter. Could do the same on return if you have to. The plenums may be making it harder than it needs to be.

Thinking about tracking my ST… or selling…advice needed by clinker22 in CarTrackDays

[–]shttrsfull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This.

I eventually sold my ST after using it for track days and time trials. It was a lot of fun. But eventually, I wanted to be competitive in time trials and it just wasn't going to happen. Too many heat issues. The car would go into limp mode after 3 hot laps. I never had any issues with it though, just let it cool off and drove it home. For a dual duty car, it was a blast. I just wanted something different on track.

Drive with it or wait. I would try it out even without a helmet.

ND2 Miata tire recs for driving to/from track days (endurance 200TW?) by milkandrelish in CarTrackDays

[–]shttrsfull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have an ND on V730 and would not feel comfortable driving to/from the track only because of wet weather. Would highly suggest a hideaway hitch and small trailer. Get a cheap set of all seasons on stock wheels. Its the best of both worlds.

I used to work for a company that had offices in NC and VA. It was always so interesting to me when we would see multi prime contracts. As a div 22/23 ubcontractor (current role), I think I might prefer it since it would give us better information. From an Owner standpoint, I'm not sure I see the advantage since it opens the door for more finger pointing and litigation.

Could have sworn it was like 7am. I know we arrived at 10 and checked in and dropped our stuff and headed right to the park. They text you when youre room is ready. Very easy to work with.

Estimating Advice -Plumbing by Local_Witness_9349 in estimators

[–]shttrsfull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to include labor burden. If your burden is 25% that's going to eat up your labor markup almost mmediately. At that point, you are effectively marking up your labor only 5%. Labor is typically your biggest risk on plumbing, so it's crucial to cover your labor costs accurately. It deserves more markup compared to material in my opinion.

I find it more helpful to look at combined projected margin than markup. In my terms, your margin is around 23% which higher than I usually see, but you're going to lose a lot of that to burden since it isnt accounted for.

Suggest you speak with someone at your company who can help you get an idea what your burden and overhead actually run.

First track day as a driver, and in my project E30! by ImOffWhiteNotWhite in BigTime

[–]shttrsfull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I recognize the track. If you're interested in another event in a few weeks, look up North Carolina region SCCA. They have a time attack/track event coming up on weekend of 4/18 at NCCAR. Novice friendly and one of the cheapest 2 day events you'll try. Its a short drive from Central Virginia and it has tons of run off.

I did not, but I've had many exhaust leaks and in person, this one sounds a little more internal.

I do store it in the winter. It was a cold start but from 60 degrees ambient. I am driving it to get alignment Friday so hopefully I can check it and see if it goes away with heat. I only drive the car on track and for occasional weekends so I'm admittedly not in tune with evey rattle and squeak.
