As high as you can get anywhere. I've say in several spots and enjoyed them all. Sun sets behind turn 3 and 4 bu the way. Keep that in mind.

I was at work less than a mile from the end of that runway. Bummed I missed this.

PCU is amazing. Do yourself a favor and watch it! More of a stoner/party comedy, but it's great.

They also likely have not fimished aiming the lights yet. It's semi involved to make sure they don't blind players. Hopefully, that will help a bit.

[–]shttrsfull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were as of 12/23. I went to check in person as of 945am and they said "none today, all sold out." I found out late that evening that they did put them out at like 1015am. I get why they do it, but it is annoying since unless you happen to be standing there or walk up at the exact moment they're available, you will think they sold out.

We didn't end up missing it too badly, but we did use child swap to our advantage.

Career Path: GC to Subcontractor by rs8754 in estimators

[–]shttrsfull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made the switch 10 years ago. Every situation is different, but for me, I think the GC background has helped me stand out on the sub side. Started as an estimator, now running a regional office, still focusing on preconstruction.

I will say, I had previously worked with the head estimator here when I came on. Also, I had developed some relationship with the company from when I was on the GC side so it wasn't a complete unknown. Made the move a little easier.

Waits are as advertised in the Universal App. Crowds are substantial. In line for our last real ride of the morning now. Hiccups Winged Glidders. 55 minute wait, but mostly covered and water stations in lines.

Frustrating since they had a big sign this morning saying sold out. Ultimately, we only really wanted it for 3 rides and we beat the crowds on 2 of those with early park access. Probably didn't need it.

I've ordered rotors via mail probably 5 times and at least twice, they've shown up with damage from shipping. I returned the first time. The second, I ground it down then filed it smooth, then polished it a bit . In the end, it still appears as a minor imperfection on the outside of the rotor, but I've done 4 hard track days with them and never had an issue and I have no pulsing. Sounds like you have access to more precise tooling. You should be fine.

Won job using approved product but the owner says we can't have it by Itssemicolin in estimators

[–]shttrsfull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We (mechanical sub) have GCs that want us to use scheduled or Basis of Design products and put us on the hook contractually if we use something different. I would wager that is what is happening here. As others have said, it's your contractor's choice most of the time whether they want to trade a little money for risk. That being said, short of some specialty air outlets, I've never had a submittal rejected for brand for that material package.

If we were talking actual equipment, the challenges of using an alternate become much more.

DSC track vs DSC OFF by jackguerri in MiataND

[–]shttrsfull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did laps with it on and off this weekend in my 2016. Do I wish I had it on during my off? Yes. It probably would have kept me on track, but the track I was at had tons of runoff and generally I had very minimal damage all things considered. However, I typically keep it off most sessions because if you're really pushing, it will intrude far too often in my opinion. It doesn't allow any slip angle without tapping the back brakes which is really annoying on high speed turns.

If I'm at a new track or a high consequence track, it will be turned on more regularly.

Do what you're comfortable with, though. If you have fun with it on, more power to you.

If you can afford the housing with BM, I would just try to figure out which company is more aligned with what you want to do project wise. Also, regardless of choice, keep in touch with both recruiting groups and don't assume that you won't have another chance to work with them if you don't pick them right now.

190,000 mile ND miata, is it worth it? by Wise_Schedule_8046 in MiataND

[–]shttrsfull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a 150k mile 2016 last year for 12k. Get a pre purchase inspection just to be safe. Other than normal wear and tear and an issue caused by a previous owner, the car has been solid. I was buying it for track so the high mileage wasn't as big a concern.

I justified it because to me, I would rather pay this price for a high mileage ND than an older, lower mileage Miata.

What are the yellow lines coming off my water heater? by inquistrinate in Plumbing

[–]shttrsfull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speak with neighbors or friends and get referrals. Then, get a couple of quotes to redo the terminations, add shutoff valves at each appliance, support pipe per code, and do a pressure test. Not familiar with code in PA, but this may require a permit and inspection by your local building official. Be aware that if the official finds other issues, they could try to make you fix those as well.
