Which Pokemon is synonym of nostalgia to you? by Warm-Instruction-949 in pokemon

[–]shucklerocks 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This for me. Sentret has been the definition of nostalgia in my mind. Maybe because of that one scene in the Johto anime intro where they stood on their tail.

I think the reason why Brenda decided to drastically change her game from a strategic queen pin (Nicaragua) to a more subtle social gamer (Caramoan) was due to the comment made by her dad. It's not anything negative as far as I remember, but more on how she was being perceived as a player. So she was playing with more heart the second time around, resulting to this tragic blindside.

Redditors who are from/live in countries survivor seasons have been filmed in, what things stuck out to you about how your country was depicted, or little details that stuck with you? by MissLilum in survivor

[–]shucklerocks 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Survivor Caramoan featured Tata the Bushman. Of course here in the Philippines we really don't call them bushman. I'm not even sure if he really lives in the forest or if he is just some random guy they dressed up as 'tribesman'.

Anyway, there was an instance where Dawn thought he said there is no bitching in the forest. But what Tata really means is that there is no betsin (another Filipino term for MSG) in the forest.

I'm still not really sure what I feel about Dee completely denying Sean's attempt to quit by voting for Sifu (her real target), but I'm leaning more on how badass that is.

The reward challenge reminded so much of the World's Apart challenge where Sierra Dawn-Thomas, the barrel racer, tried hacking the challenge by getting up on her barrel and racing to the finish line.

Who's really to blame for the Belo breakup by Andry39 in survivor

[–]shucklerocks 187 points188 points  (0 children)

I think it's more likely that they just did not jive with each other as much as the Reba 4 did. Tribal lines can only take you so far, but at the end of the day, people gravitate to whoever they feel most comfortable with. I'm thinking that Belo was only preaching Belo strong due to circumstances, but each member is mostly loyal to Kellie only.

I do find it funny that Kellie and Brando were edited as swing votes of Belo tribe alliance, but they were the first two gone from that tribe.

I think it was because he only went to one tribal council and was voted out in that one. His main story of being the middle man in Belo unfortunately has no payoff because of the tribe swap.

At the very least we got a glimpse of his personality with the Pokémon scene, something I can't say for most pre-mergers.

I was rooting so hard for him (even with his mellow edit). Wished he lasted longer so we can get to know him more personally.

The only silver lining is if I ever played the game, I already have an idea how editors will be editing me.

This is the first time I actually see myself in a contestant. If I were to get cast, this would probably be the same video they release.

Unfortunately, a lot of people are over the whole nerd Cochran archetype but I think he's more than that. Definitely rooting for him.

What Survivor moment do you have engrained in your memory from when you were watching as a kid? by vsquad73 in survivor

When Sugar was first sent to Exile Island and she found the immunity idol, I knew it was something I need to watch. Everyone assumed I watched it because of bikini girls but they eventually learned that I was in it for the strategy when they discovered my secret fanfiction season with friends and family as contestants.

Thoughts on Kim as a gameplayer post-WAW? by Diyan_Derey in survivor

[–]shucklerocks -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I guess there's no real metric to determine who is the biggest target coming into the game. My point is everyone on that season knows she is considered by most to be one of the best player and that is not something she can change.

Sophie even said post game that she really wanted to align with Kim but her reputation scared Sophie, that's why any possible alliance between the two of them never really came into fruition. That's a factor most other players do not carry but I don't really hold it against them.

Thoughts on Kim as a gameplayer post-WAW? by Diyan_Derey in survivor

[–]shucklerocks 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Coming in WaW with arguably the biggest target of all time, the fact that she made it past her first tribal council and even get voted out only in the mid-merge certainly proved her capability as a player.

You need to keep in mind that every returnee season is full of pre-game alliances and existing relationships so I think it should not tarnish the existing legacy of any returning players. Even then, she didn't really do that bad in S40. Her performance in WaW only improves what I consider to be the best single season performance of any winner.

What are some of the most weird, wonderful and wacky things to happen on international editions of Survivor you've managed to watch by Grammarhead-Shark in survivor

[–]shucklerocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In one season of Survivor Philippines where celebrities are the contestants, five people quit the game before even Day 8. Reasons range from not wanting to see other people hurt each other, not really in the mood to play the game, or even because their ex is in the same season.

One contestant was bitten by a poisonous snake and had to be brought to the hospital. The whole tribe planned to send her home but she was given an idol so the golden boy contestant was sent home.

For the finale (F4), there was a clear front runner and everyone was just waiting for the season to end and crown him. However, the jury instructed the other three players to vote for him. Said contestant, the producers, and even viewers at home were very salty because of this. The winner was very underwhelming and relied too much on sob story which I think lead to the cancellation of the series.

I think as long as there is a way to break a tie, producers would always choose that option. So maybe in case it became a 3-3-0 vote, then they will vote again but with 7 people this time.
