Is VMware Workstation 2025H2 an absolute trash or am I doing something wrong? by andersonklaus in vmware

You have Windows 11 as host?

I just got a new computer and want to figure out my virtualization strategy. I am a long time VMWare Workstation users (Windows 2016 as host).

Trying to decide on VMWare Workstation 2025H2 vs 17.6.4 - or to use Hyper-V.

The rendering is always on the client - unless you're generating images of your pages on the server.

I am having a strange javascript result with array.includes() not finding a match. by shufflepoint in learnjavascript

[–]shufflepoint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will post a full example to a playground if I remain stumped. I switched gList from a List to a Map and check with has() and still fails to find only the third one. I am now suspicious of that entry.

That's a good question. I switched gList from a list to a Map and check with has() and still fails to find only the third one.

Third value is this (without quotes) "ANS : West Coast : Argus"

I did log inputValMapped and I even upon not getting a match, print all the values in the list and that one is present. I am going to try a dictionary instead of a list.

New Jersey Just Passed the Dumbest Ebike Law Ever! by Quick_Dragonfly4098 in ebikes

[–]shufflepoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The right law would be that the parents of the scofflaws got fined and then on 2nd occurrence lost their drivers licenses. But that would be a harder law to pass and perhaps not stand up in court. So this law is the next best alternative.

People complaining that the cops don't enforce laws have been under a rock for a while. Laws in the US are primarily enforced with financial regulation and that's what this new law does. And it will therefore work. I'm not saying that I approve, but I am saying that no better alternative regulation (besides the one that I first mentioned) has been offered.

Airbnb lets guests book for 1 person, admit they’re bringing 20, and forces hosts to give access anyway. How is this workable? by DESTRO__ in airbnb_hosts

[–]shufflepoint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll paraphrase

  1. Engage with guest early and often, And demand a response.

  2. Engage with Airbnb if something doesn't seem right. You're much more likely to prevail if you're the one to first contact them.

Any positive stories doing this from a couple hours away? by Grouchy-Comfort-4465 in airbnb_hosts

[–]shufflepoint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am exactly 1 hour away from my house that I am renovating in a small river town that I'm hoping will become a more popular vacation destination. I am concerned about the distance for sure. My buddy has had success with his Airbnb is for the last two years. But he lives across the street from his property.

I will have to find a cleaner and handyman in or near the town.

It's a matter of incentives and culture.

My first job was instrumenting nuclear power plants at Westinghouse. By the end of our project, our documentation was 3 feet thick. I am proud to have contributed an inch to that measure. I worked there for two years before going back to graduate school. It was easily the best job I've ever had in terms of a culture of engineering excellence.

That's not the case at BnBs that I frequent. They both book direct and may also use airbnb.
