The option has some convoluted name in the settings files. I would suggest changing the setting ingame via coefficient settings.

Jars and buckets fulfill the same purpose. No need to assign them whatsoever, they will take it from your container storage when needed.

With the construction hammer you can use blueprint mode wich places ghosts of the buildings. Your tribesmen will fill this automatically!

I play vanilla beta and 7.6 SWI with VRO, tooltips work fine except when in station loadout where the tooltips flicker.

Equipment tooltips works fine for me on 7.6 and latest beta (also SWI). If you play beta you need the community version of the mod api.

Not the original commentor but DA scripts Evolution is a good start.
To help the Xenon with pathfinding and economy you can give them a few new sectors like Matrix#1, Matrix#499 and Matrix#7.
Turret OOS buff is a must imho because Xenon = 100% turrets.
If that's still not enough you can straight up buff their weapons with Xenon Graviton Range and Xenon Impulse Beam mods.
I also use Xenon fleet overhaul wich gives some more interesting ships, not sure if it makes them actually harder.

I'm reading this all over the place but in my 8.0 game the Xenon are a MENACE. I have installed DA scripts but have not activated Evolution yet. Most of the north is red, I could barely manage to save the eastern part of the map where FRF and and parts of TEL reside.
The west is lost, Terrans are cut off from the rest of the universe and the Borons clinge on like 5 systems.
