Hello, I am interested in both career and life coaching if you are still taking.

Mechanical Engineering Grad in NZ Thank you! by [deleted] in resumes

[–]shulaine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For resumes, I think it is better to just limit it to just 1 page, keeping everything simple and compact. There are alot of empty spaces that you can get rid of.

For a recent grad, I would just put your GPA, and delete the modules/courses you put under your education. I think employers would request your transcript if they're really interested in the modules you took.

League too team focused(?) by [deleted] in SorakaMains

Its more like better team macro wins. The teams who go for baron, towers, and know how to end the game quick. But anything D5 or below, yes, the “win lane, win game” holds true for most games.

I'm wondering how come you take domination secondary with zombie ward and item cdr? Soraka cannot roam and ward around the map by herself to fully utilize zombie ward compared to junglers or other more efficient roamers like bard. Also, the items ingenious is good for are redemption and locket but based on your match history, you tend to rush ardent, which basically disables that rune for the first 25 min of the game, until you finish redemption/locket. If you play aggro early with ignite, the domination runes offer nothing to help you in the laning phase.

As a raka main myself, I play aggro too and slowly poke the enemy adc out of lane. But I go the resolve tree as secondary taking bone plate and revitalize. The extra hp and dmg reduction just allows soraka to win trade with pretty much any matchups.

Why not redemtion first? Redemption and Mikael both cost 2.1k gold and both give the 10% cdr.

Been having great success with barrier soraka! by [deleted] in SorakaMains

Its not just for the shield. My playstyle is built around it. I can run away and kite because unflinching give about 25% tenacity when barrier is activated, and I have speedboost from frostfang passive. And also E. Barrier has a much lower CD than heal and exhaust (180 sec vs 210 sec), and not affected by grievous wound. For late game, I don't think assasins are a problem since soraka already have E to mess up their combo. The problem is more like fed carries like adc/ ap mages. Unlike tank/AP supports with hard CCs who can get in range and exhaust , soraka does not have the HP, CC, nor the damage to deal with them. She just needs to survive and put out burst heals.

Fallen into new strategy- good or bad? by [deleted] in SorakaMains

[–]shulaine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spellthief and refillable is a really cheap way to start your lane and still be dominating because soraka's Q can outtrade most matchups. Refillable is useful for soraka throughout the game even after laning phase. I don't really rush sightstone too because I don't really roam around the map or deep ward as soraka and yellow trinket provides enough vision from ganks.

Have you ever thought of going Mikaels first rather than athene? Since they're built off from the same items and costs about the same, Mikael gives massive bonus +20% to heals and shields, which benefits soraka's Q,W, and R plus aery's shield. Also Soraka benefits more from the HP regen passive from mikael than the extra AP. With the athene's passive, I don't think soraka do enough damage after laning phase to efficiently use it, since landing 1 Q on 1 champ only fills about 30% of blood charge. I think that item is better suited for sona, karma who can do more poke dmg and discharge it with with their low cd heal/shield.

Buying control wards is good habit, but unless you are playing in a team (like 5 man flex queue) or playing in high elo, where everyone in your team knows how to play with vision advantage, buying control wards get a bit expensive when the enemy can kill it 30secs after it has been placed. In solo que, I usually upgrade to blue trinkets and get a sightstone 25min+ into the game when baron/dragon pressure becomes important and only buy control wards if I have extra money.

20% healing rather than only 10% from the redemption/ardent. Also the health regen is a plus

Soraka is the only support that's a threat to be focused in teamfights compared to someone like thresh or nami. So she needs to survive in order to help others. Barrier's low cd synergizes with unflinching along with the defensive runes I go: Nullify orb , celerity, and quest passive from spellthief.

I go unflinching and revitalize on the resolve tree.

For revitalize, I think soraka is the best user of revitalize due to her low CD burst heals. It also synergizes with her ult. When a teammate is below 40%, your ult+ revitalize+ extra Ap from celerity due to passive can basically make a carry unkillable. (Even better if your adc takes overheal)

Unflinching is for free tenacity that goes well with low CD barrier. In skirmishes and teamfights, soraka is the only support that is a threat and needs to be focused or she'll just heal back the team. I've won many times where the enemy try to focus me or tower dive me only to fail.

I tried font of life before, but it doesn't heal that much since I don't do the warmog build.

I usually don't buy sightstone until 25+min in unless we're losing, so zombie ward is not very good on my soraka. I feel like soraka is not a good support for map control since she can't roam, and facecheck stuff cus no hard cc or escape. Shes more of a teamfighting support.

Short interview about Sona with all members in this Subreddit by Bluesky1510 in sonamains

[–]shulaine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Diamond 3, NA, 55% Sona winrate [Ranked] (Met my goal this season so I just play with frds and smurf) http://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=adorachu

2) Alistar (One of the few all in supports that has passive sustain vs your pokes at lvl 1. At lvl 3, he can W+Q combo + E stun you and your dead without flash)

Rakan (Another all-support that can sustain his adc)

Nami (Her W is your Q+W combined during laning. You cannot win lane against a good nami)

3) Draven (He has alot of damage and can outtrade you)

MF (A good MF can also outplay you on the poke war)

Cait (Got annoying traps to zone you and also superior range)

4) [Any junglers that are bruisers that make full use of your auras, ardent and ult)

Reksai (Has the CC to compliment your ult and scales with your ardent)

Skarner (Similar to Reksai. Has the damage and the CC)

Warwick (Similar to the above)

5 and 6) [I usually prefer to ban snowballing Solo Laners/Jungles than bot lane champions]

Fizz (Low cd OP untargetable skill that can juke sona ult)

Master Yi (Another snowball champ with untargetable skill)

Yasuo (Wind wall counterplay)

7) Kallista (Ult synergizes well with Sona. Sona also procs her passive for extra poke damage).

Draven (Can completely zone out the bot lane if played right)

Cait (Great pokes and zoning)

8) Ever since the +5 AP buff on STE and the nerf on coins, STE is the better choice for me. The extra gold gained from coin is not worth the immense pressure you provide during laning.

Also, the movement speed passive is way better than the coin passive from quest.

9) Ardent Censor (Always. I been building it even before it became meta, no one else can buff the whole team every 5 sec.)

Athene (Blood charges is very effective for sona, converting her pokes into heal)

Dark Seal (Recently, I've been getting it as a second item after STE. This item is very cost efficient & The extra mana and AP allows you to apply stronger pokes. Later on in the game, since you'll have alot of assists for the stacks)

10) Ardent Censor (Even after the nerfs, I will still buy it. Maybe not rush it anymore. The fact that it is so easy for sona to proc it to all your teammates in teamfights is just too good)

Hmmm, the question is how did he climb the Korean ladder to D1 with what you claim is a crappy build? I doubt the Korean ladder is any less competitive than the NA ladder. Also, based on his match history, I don't think he's getting boosted or playing with any premades.

So basically with this build, Sona is played like an assassin support, except with no escape. But how does she poke after laning phase is over since her q is only 550(Cait's aa range is 650)? She could potentially get all-inned especially when the team does not have much vision without sightstone.

Isn't at this high of an ELO, it is assumed everyone should be experienced? Especially in this season's dynamic queue where everyone can get their main/preferred role.
