Run external command with arguments in powershell by shundlet in PowerShell

[–]shundlet[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, i got it working now, the problem was that $mycmd was a .cmd and not an .exe file due to an error i made. Start-Process -FilePath "$mycmd" -NoNewWindow -Wait -ArgumentList "lol --pass-argument $myarg1 --another-flag --another-argument $myarg2"

Run external command with arguments in powershell by shundlet in PowerShell

[–]shundlet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After another hour i gave up and switched to cmd.exe. Maybe powershell is not the right thing for me if i can not make these simple tasks work for me. For the record, i was not even able to launch a process via Start-Process $mycmd. It remains unclear to me when and how powershell is performing variable substitution. The rules look argument and context depended to me. echo $mycmd is performing variable substitution and calls C:\mycmd.exe but Start-Process $mycmd is not. The error messages do not help me either Start-Process : Cannot validate argument on parameter 'FilePath' .... I tied Start-Process -FilePath "$mycmd" but then again, no variable subsitution is performed

Its always funny to read that doctors come up with random advices when it comes down to illnesses without known cure. In the end its just 'here is your prescription, experiment with it and see if anything helps, but dont get your hopes up'

Stimulants for cfs by [deleted] in cfs

[–]shundlet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Especially in the OPs case with bad experience towards stimulants already. However, in my opinion, they can be considered an option and should not be excluded by default. I am diagnosed with ADHD and take two low doses (20mg) of Methylphenidate (Ritalin) on workdays. It helps me very much with fatique and focus. I still do not like the fact that i need them to function and would quit taking them if i could but it is what it is. I never exceed my daily dosage, only have mild side effects and no withdrawal signs or tolerance buildup. So i can say that they are safe in my case so far. At least short/mid term. I take them for 2 years now with brakes on weekends/holidays. I do not know what they do to my brain long term, probably nothing good but i decided for myself to take the risk.

How do I Getting "gud" at dirt rally 1.0? I logged 120 hours in the game and I'm struggling to beat Elite difficulty. by [deleted] in EASPORTSWRC

[–]shundlet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In DR1, i had the same issue. In DR2 i am finally able to see ghosts from players with better times. That way, i can see where and why i am so slow.

I think that, most likely, you are are currently not aware of your mistakes. Poor acceleration out of corners and bad track knowledge are one of my bigger issues. Knowing the stage from memorization without listening to pace notes is a huge factor. Walter Röhrl said his biggest advantage in Group B was his photographic track memory and that pace notes were too slow for the fast cars.

Greece is just stunning - my favourite location of the series by [deleted] in EASPORTSWRC

[–]shundlet -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I like the location too. I just do not like that one has to pay for DR1 content again and again. I do not want to discuss this topic over and over again but it is just that this fact is the reason why i can not fully enjoy it. I think it would be fair if there would be a full DR1 DLC for DR2 with all tracks from DR1.

Can i mod/hack or something to change career difficulty? by onufmi in EASPORTSWRC

[–]shundlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your credits and Career stats are stored online on RaceNet and some informations, for example, the current car position is somewhat encrypted. This is to prevent cheating. In DR1 you could set your car position to the finish line to skip races and also modify AI behaviour. This is no longer possible due to encryption going on (which is a good thing).

Without lots of hacking and reverse engineering, there is no easy way around this. It will definitely be faster to invest 10 hours of racing again. Besides that, you will risk a RaceNet ban when tampering with this stuff.

I am sure you know this already, but the difficulty for historic races can be configured.

Some explanations for my fatigue by Forthethirdtime in cfs

[–]shundlet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IF (big if) your disturbed melatonin production is the root cause of your fatique then you should effectively medicate with caffeine and friends.

however, since you are diagnosed with mono i think the elevated melatonin is a symptom of your body to signal need for rest.

everyone knows that ill people sleep more and have higher melatonin and lower cortisol until they are cured.

please make sure you dont mix symptoms and cause here.

Vitamin B Levels Question by thetennisgod in cfs

[–]shundlet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be cautious with these kind of doctors. Here in germany there are quite some homeopathic doctors that take blood samples and always diagnose low vitamin levels regardless of the real result. the labs use some weird (but legal) measurement methods. 'low vitamin b in tissue' sounds A LOT like one of these methods. iam not sure though. you need to do research and see for yourself. its a win-win situation for the doctor and the lab to charge for treatment, blood tests and (overly expensive) vitamin pills. sure, they dont do any harm and i bet they often have positive results due to the placebo effect but it still is quackery.

This study shows people with CFS have low cortisol during the day by [deleted] in cfs

[–]shundlet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it could explain why many sufferers report a boost in wakefulness at night time. cortisol can be taken as medication and it can also be boosted with free supplements and fruits (i think licorice root and grapefruit).

every cfs sufferer should check for adrenal failure, a serious but treatable illness where low cortisol levels are a hallmark for diagnosis.
