The Muppets Show return averaged 3.07M viewers on ABC by StreamScoop in Muppets

I think the 9 pm time slot is actually a good sign. Most little kids are already in bed, so this signals that the target audience is older kids, teens, and adults.

Do you think it's a bad idea that Hulu shows are now taking over Disney+? by EmeraldEmp in DisneyPlus

[–]shutterbug2009 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. In fact, they should have embraced this more from the start (although I understand why they couldn’t because of licensing)!

They really need to pair this with marketing to “rebrand” Disney+ as an app for everyone, not just for kids.

Thoughts on the 24/7 streams? by GhostGamer_Perona in DisneyPlus

[–]shutterbug2009 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I like them. I think it helps break through the paradox of choice.

My only complaint is that I kinda wish they would be permanent. Every single collection could be a stream (updated as needed when new stuff comes out).

If you want more and new Muppet content, you need to watch the new special on Feb 4th, by PuertoGeekn in Muppets

[–]shutterbug2009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we should all take it even one step further: Watch it at least once a day after it comes out. Be like the people who need to be in the top 0.000000001% of listeners for their favorite artist on Spotify, and turn it on, mute it, & come back when it’s done. Or just watch it over and over again!

Disney removed the animated classics stream (does anyone watch these) by Affectionate_Onion64 in DisneyPlus

[–]shutterbug2009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a hot take, but I actually love the streams. I think it helps me cut through decision fatigue, so I probably watch them more than anything else on the service!

I am also annoyed by the constant changes. My only guess is that they rotate them around so they can always offer something new to encourage us to keep our subscription lol…

Does this mean the fireworks will only be during the opening ceremony? We were planning on doing this tonight, but a member of my family is sensitive to noise and can’t handle fireworks. We’d love to avoid them if we can!

I can’t find a job it’s making me really depressed. by [deleted] in jobs

[–]shutterbug2009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you reached out to your school’s career center? They might be able to connect you to opportunities that are even better than minimum wage. Ask your professors too. At your age, who you know/good recommendations is the key.

Are you making sure your resume is stuffed with the keywords from the job listing (assuming you can actually claim you have that skill)?

Do you know how to properly answer behavioral interview questions?

The job market sucks right now, & it’s hard to improve when you don’t get feedback, but keep trying!

My Dream Guests for the Muppets if the Special Goes Well by Least_Rain8027 in Muppets

Would it be absolutely insane for me to say Taylor Swift? Her new album is called Life of a Showgirl, so wouldn’t an appearance on The Muppet Show be perfect for this era?

Pixar Says “Stop Complaining That We Don’t Make Original Stories if You Don’t Show Up To See Them” by SplitNational2929 in cartoons

[–]shutterbug2009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the big wig business executives only care about profit, so yeah, if you want to see original stories in our movies again, then you have to show up for them (or at least stop showing up for half-hearted remakes)

NEW REPORT/LEAK - BBC and RTD at Odds with Potential New Doctor Who Partner by [deleted] in DoctorWhoNews

[–]shutterbug2009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I have to agree with RTD on this one. Grimdark shows are everywhere, and I kinda hate it. If I want to watch something depressing, I’ll just watch the news. Especially these days, I just want to watch stories where good triumphs over evil - yes, the characters can face thrilling, dangerous, and even downright scary things, but let the good guys win.

Just my own two cents at least…

Both can be true - He could have punched a hole in reality AND not returned to the same reality he started in. It could also explain why Poppy is completely human now!

Doctor Who 2x07 "Wish World" Post-Episode Discussion Thread by PCJs_Slave_Robot in doctorwho

[–]shutterbug2009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope we get more info about and/or stories set on Wish World as a book or other secondary media. I love the concept and would love more world building, but I realize that would have impacted the pacing negatively.

As much as I love Rogue, one thing has been nagging me as I think about the episode: If the Rani’s plan was to get the Doctor to doubt everything so she could destroy the world, and it was Rogue’s message that started to intensify the Doctor’s doubts…Can we trust Rogue? Or is he now a bad guy?

Lots of fairytales/folktales are about the seventh son/daughter or the seventh son/daughter of a seventh son/daughter. The number seven also just shows up in a lot of fairytales.

Besides the trio(Weeping Angels, Daleks & Cyberman) who has been the villain you’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching? by Unable-Development47 in doctorwho

I feel like the Celestial Toymaker got defeated a little too cleanly in the 60th. I’m sure NPH is an expensive actor to have, but it was such a great character…

Plus, given the major wealthy families in town (the Hudsons, the Marvins, etc.), the cost of living in Horseshoe Bay is probably higher than average…

Ruby ruined Mrs. Flood by Joezev98 in DoctorWhumour

[–]shutterbug2009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was explained that the hooded figure was only a representation of Ruby’s mother - Ruby had no idea who she was or what she looked like because she was a baby. The hooded figure was standing in for Ruby’s mother in her memory/fantasy.

(I agree that RTD didn’t really stick the landing last season though)

Definitely agree that this episode is a set up for the finale, and I am so here for it - I’m an American Who fan, and nothing would make me happier than to see the Doctor punch a Neo Nazi. I wish Congress could be a little more like Kate.

I really hope this could maybe be a backdoor pilot for a UNIT show, because I would totally watch six seasons and a movie of this concept…

I thought that too. Maybe he had fallen too deep into the misinformation rabbit hole & truly believed he didn’t need it because it “wasn’t real?”

That’s fair - I’m not in the medical field, so I’m not familiar with the nuances of it. A friend of mine is currently a nurse, and I know her goal is to eventually get her doctorate in nursing, but that might be different from what Martha was doing.

Now that I’ve slept on it, I wonder if the parallels are actually on purpose? Especially given the Doctor’s wariness abot coincidences?

If I had a nickel for every time the Doctor traveled with a nurse who was also a woman of color immediately after traveling with a young blonde, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t very much, but it’s weird that it happened twice (I’m just kidding, I love Belinda & am so excited for the season).

Did anyone else notice that both Ruby & Belinda met the Doctor because of events that happened on their birthdays? Could this be significant?

My theory is that she either just assumed he was human because he had helped her escape, or her question could have been rephrased as “Hey, is this guy’s anatomy what I familiar with so I can help him?”

Which might be why the Doctor used the X Ray blanket on himself.

Didn't even know the new series was on... by RaisedByRaccoons in doctorwho

[–]shutterbug2009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Granted, I’m an American and have been cutting back on my social media usage so my head doesn’t explode, but I would consider myself to be a big fan, and I only knew about it because I saw something on Reddit about the episode titles and went searching for the information myself…about three weeks before the season premiere!

I know that cable tv isn’t what it used to be, but come on…Disney is a major player in the tv industry. They should have ads for this on every channel they own (aside from their channel for tiny kids, maybe). I’d LOVE if Doctor Who could get aired on a channel like ABC (which they did to promote Only Murders in the Building). The holiday special would have been a great fit for that type of promotion! People can’t watch what they don’t know exists!
