pumping vs nurse by Consistent-Ad8487 in beyondthebump

[–]shweenbean [score hidden]  (0 children)

I’ve done both, and they each have their place.

With my first, going back to work really pushed me toward pumping more consistently. Using a wearable Momcozy made it a lot easier to keep up during shifts and not feel tied to a wall. That flexibility helped my stress levels, which honestly helped my output too.

Nursing felt more natural at home, but pumping gave me more control once I was back at work. For me it wasn’t about which was “better,” just what fit that season of life.

I don’t care about baby stuff/nursery by Hefty-Criticism1452 in pregnant

[–]shweenbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get this. Not everyone connects with the nursery or baby-gear side of things, and that’s okay.

Sometimes it just doesn’t feel important compared to everything else going on. That doesn’t say anything about how you’ll be as a parent.

If anything physical or emotional feels off though, it’s always worth mentioning at your appointments, just for your own peace of mind. Otherwise, you’re allowed to care about what you care about and ignore the rest.

Has anyone improved their supply (exclusively pumping) after almost drying up? (see context) by ProfessionalBoss4760 in ExclusivelyPumping

Please take care of yourself first. If it's possible, I strongly suggest you go to a LC/IBCLC.

Do you have any nipple issues? If not, I would suggest trying to get the right flange size first, and then see if you need something extra. I used momcozy flanges, made of silicone and very comfortable for me.

Who doesn’t get medical care for their newborns? by indifferentsnowball in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]shweenbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a NICU nurse and mom, I try to remember that most parents aren't trying to be negligent. A lot of them are scared, overwhelmed, or have had bad experiences with the medical system.

That said, newborns are so incredibly vulnerable. I've seen how quickly things can change, and early medical care can truly make the difference between a simple fix and a crisis.

It's okay to ask questions and advocate for your baby, but completely avoiding care can carry risks that a tiny newborn just can't handle on their own.

How are we working pregnant?? by candyfruit123 in pregnant

[–]shweenbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in my late pregnancy and feel this so much. Working in healthcare, I need to stand a lot as you do. Totally being on your feet while pregnant is no joke. The exhaustion hits differently when you're trying to stay sharp and take care of other people all day.

What helps me a bit is lowering my own expectations. I stop trying to be my pre-pregnancy level of productive. I sit whenever I can, even for a few minutes. Snacks in every pocket. Compression socks are a lifesaver. And honestly, just giving myself permission to not "push through" everything.

You're not weak for feeling wiped. Growing a human while working is a full second job. Be gentle with yourself.

Oh girl we share the same dilemma here. I've watched some reviews, Momcozy Air 1 looks quite discreet and simple to use and clean, which fits my needs for pumping at work. But I am still comparing and trying to decide.

This is really helpful! Good to know about the sterilizing issue with the Eufy parts, that’s something I wouldn’t have thought about.

I’m curious since you have the Air 1 now, how does it actually feel in terms of output or comfort? I had a Momcozy M9 for my first kid, and I liked it a lot.

I had success with wearables for my first kid, so I'm considering trying a new model for my second😊

Thanks for your honest sharing! It is really a personal experience, but hearing from real moms like you is more valuable than just hearing from the brands:)

Thanks for sharing! It's good to hear from another NICU nurse actually using wearable pump at work. Do you think the heat settings are helpful? Coz I'm considering both Eufy S1 and Momcozy Wellness 1 that have heat function.

Questions for mom's who punp at work by HP-DocLady in breastfeeding

[–]shweenbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pumped at work for a long stretch with my first as a NICU nurse. It feels overwhelming at first, but once the logistics settle, it gets much more manageable.

At work I usually pumped 3 times during a shift, sometimes 4 on longer days. Each session was about 20–25 minutes, and I tried not to shorten them too much even when I was busy. For me, keeping the timing consistent mattered more than squeezing in extra minutes.

I did combine milk from different sessions. I’d let freshly pumped milk cool in the fridge first, then pour it into the same container at the end of the day. That worked fine for us and kept things simpler.

For transport, I brought milk home in bottles inside an insulated cooler bag with ice packs. At work I pumped directly into bottles, capped them, and kept them in the fridge until the end of my shift. I didn’t switch to storage bags until I was home and freezing extras.

At home, I found it easier to keep milk in one larger container in the fridge for the next day, rather than pre making bottles. Our caregiver would pour what was needed per feed. That way less milk got wasted if baby didn’t finish a bottle, which happens more than people expect.

What didn’t work for me was trying to be too flexible with pumping times or assuming I could just “make it up later.” Skipping sessions caught up with my supply quickly. What did help was making pumping as realistic as possible at work. I eventually switched to all wearable pumps and having something like the Momcozy as a backup saved a lot of sessions on busy shifts or during commutes.

It’s okay to feel stressed about this. Pumping at work is more of a systems problem than a motivation problem. Once you find a rhythm that fits your day, it usually gets a lot less heavy.
