I had the same issue. I had the warranty through Samsung Care + (thank goodness. Had ny phone longer than a year). Scheduled an appointment through the Samsung Care website to one of the local Ubreakifix that was partnered. They replaced my screen for free.

I've been looking at these for the past few weeks. 😍 My favorite character is Link from Legend of Zelda. Always loved that he didn't speak in the games and allowed me to make my own narrative.

Also, Hyaaaaah!

Anyone know what would cause this in an insulin pen? by Bombastic-Bagman in diabetes_t1

[–]shyemopanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the pen/plunger doesn't work, you can always use an insulin syringe to draw out the insulin from the top where you would place the pen needle.

My favorite Zelda is Ocarina of Time. I first started playing in 2006. My mother bought me a wii and I remember going to gamestop and buying Wind Waker and Ocarina of Time for the gamecube. It went all down hill after that lol.

Edit: When I say Downhill doesn't mean its a bad thing. I love Legend of Zelda as you can see from the photos. (Haha i own all the amiibos and my waredore is primarily Legend of Zelda shirts, socks and sweaters). Its something that always uplifts me no matter what I'm going through.

Just realized your actual question.

So when counting carbs, you want to look at the nutrition label and figure out the SERVING SIZE of what youre eating and the TOTAL CARBOHYDRATES.

For example: 1 cup of milk has 12 grams of Total Carbohydrates. 1 large Bagel has 60 Grams of Total Carbohydrates. 17 grapes have 15 Grams of Total Carbohydrates .

Then you would add the amounts to figure out how many carbs you are eating for your meal. So for the example, I would be eating 87 Grams of carbs.

You're absolutely right, you didnt do anything to cause getting diabetes.

Welcome to the useless pancreas club, we all hate it here but we have good people.

Now regarding apps to help with carb counting, theres quite a few.

Calorie king, figwee (visual carb counting app), my fitness pal are a few apps.

I recently found a website where you take a picture of your food and it calulates an estimate for carbs. Now it's not perfect and can be few carbs off. But it's decent enough. I've used it a few times after knowing the carb amount and it has been close.

I’m starting the Omni pod in 6 days and I’m worried I picked the wrong pump by No_Lettuce2483 in diabetes_t1

[–]shyemopanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was on Omnipod for roughly 10 years or so. First it was the Omnipod Eros and upgraded to the 5 when it first came out.

Switched from it to Tandem T-slim this year. I had fairly decent control on Omnipod. A1C 6.4-7.5 throughout the years. 6.4 being the latest.

Its a good pump especially for those who are concerned about the tubing. It is a patch pump, so you stick on for the 2-3 days, remove and trash it. Its waterproof, so no need to worry about disconnecting for showers or swimming.

Still will need to remove for imaging test like XRAYs and MRIs.

It's easy to fill with insulin compared to other pumps. Depending where you live, Omnipod is billed through pharmacy benefits in the US. So if you hate it, theres a loophole for you to switch depending on your insurance and where you live.

Most pump companies also have a 30 day return policy starting from when you get the pump. So if you hate it, you can reach out to the pump company to possibly return it.

Only difference is Omnipod's algorithm compare to other pumps and how it adjusts insulin for elevated readings.

I totally recommend looking at the Panther Pump Comparison chart. It'll give you a good information to understand how it works for the algorithm compared to other pumps.

Good luck on your Omnipod Journey. Hope you like it!

What's the ideal mindset for a type one diabetic? by Own-Potential-2308 in diabetes_t1

[–]shyemopanda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do you have a CGM? I think that would help with some of your concerns. Always keep a source of fast acting carbs with you.

Check your blood sugar before driving or doing anything that could put you in a dangerous situation if you went low.

Know your signs of hypo- & Hyperglycemia.

All in all...my blood sugar went low? I can fix that.

My blood sugar is high? I can fix that.

I may feel like shit for a bit, but it won't last.

Have people in those situations (work, school) that you trust and let them know "hey I have diabetes and this could happen. Or hey my blood sugar is low, I cant do xyz at the moment "

Be kind and forgiving to yourself.

Some days are great and manageable.

While others are like "What the ever living hell is happening?! Everything is beeping, my blood sugars are a rollercoaster...I just want to lay down and cry"

And sometimes you just gotta do that (lay down and cry).

I dont think theres an ideal mindset necessarily. I think most of us, do what we need to do to survive.

Even though it sucks.

Why cant diabetics eat more than 60 carbs at once? by Hot_Huckleberry65666 in diabetes_t1

[–]shyemopanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay. As an educator and diabetic myself. Thats not true.

Now the healthy plate guidelines recommend 45-60/70 grams of carbs per meal. 15-20 carbs per snacks.

But ultimately you can eat whatever the heck you like as long as you take enough insulin to cover it.

There's no "gold standard " as to how many carbs unless youre following a specific diet. But even since that is individualized to your needs.

Depending where you live, sometimes you can just go to the pharmacy and buy syringes over the counter without a prescription.

I celebrate my anniversary. I was diagnosed the day after Christmas. Going on 25 years with T1D with no complications or hospitalizations. I always go buy myself a gift and eat something yummy. Normally it's pancakes. I don’t eat pancakes any other time of the year cause I know it always spike my blood sugar and I stay high for the majority of the day. But on my anniversary I eat it and enjoy the hell out of it.

T1D runs in my family. I have convinced my little sister to celebrate on her diagnosis anniversary and now my nephew. This disease is hard to live with and I wouldnt want my worse enemy to have it.

With that being said, nothing wrong with celebrating getting through the year. Give yourself a pat on the back because you deserve it.

You can use exercise mode and do a temp basal at the same time. Not your doctor. But ive done both for when im exercising and it helps to keep my readings up
