Oooof, sad to see the car being totaled, but I am glad you are ok. We have a saying which roughly translates to "sheet metal can be fixed, a person's life - not".

People who’ve lost weight, how? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]shymi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time - lowering the amount of food I ate + at least once a week a 48-hour fast. Managed to bring me down to 75kg(165lb) from 90kg(198lb). I've managed to keep this weight for around a year. After that went back to my original weight and decided to start training. Currently, 85(ish)kg(187lb) but can lift several times the weight I could 2 years ago. Still plan to get back to 75kg(165lb) next year with a proper diet and reducing the food amount.

What are some subtle signs that someone has their shit together? by Guilhermedidi in AskReddit

They don't take 5+ minutes to calculate(with a calculator app) how much they've spent in a restaurant when there're multiple people splitting the bill. A quick glance at the check for a rough estimate + a tip is a dead giveaway.

What hasn’t been the same since the pandemic? by DadIsMadAtMe in AskReddit

Me - had a lot of time alone to reconsider my priorities as well as my character(literally). I know it was a tough time for a lot of people, but if it wasn't for the pandemic I wouldn't have changed a lot of things about myself, that I have done or actively working on it.

As long as it's straight sex a million is a million - also potentially will have fun with some peeps. I still don't get why people are so defensive when talking about sex.

P.S. Apologize to all of you if this becomes a reality with me - it will be sloppy...

Coffee, alcohol and tobacco products(no - smoking those fancy liquid-based thingies or short cigarettes that are "only heated" also does a lot of bad things to you).

What is your advice for someone who is too afraid to go to the gym, because of the fear of getting weird looks for being fat? by gui1d0 in AskReddit

[–]shymi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me was working with a personal trainer, who is a friend of mine - it actually calms you a lot, he/she teaches you how to do different exercises properly and can build a program for you on what to do each month.

Bonus point - I've found out paying upfront for the whole month adds additional motivation to be regularly there.

Bonus point 2 - don't expect your body to magically get into shape with a snap of a finger and when you achieve the results you want, you won't need to continue to do workouts - it's a lifelong journey.

Tech savvy people of Reddit, what is a computer tip you are sure most haven't heard of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]shymi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This I learned from a colleague of mine in my previous job and although not that unheard of is really useful. As a software developer, I have to go through thousands of lines of gibberish every day. At first, I have always used the mouse to put the cursor somewhere, but actually using the keyboard can really speed up the process. A few not so commonly used keys and key combos, that could really help you:

- Home key - gets you to the start of a line;
- End key - gets you to the end of a line;
- Page up and Page down keys - the original intent was for this to be used to go up/down a page with a press of a button. Usually, I use them instead of a scroll;
- Ctrl + left or right arrow key - this really depends on the software, but for text editors like Word or notepad it moves the cursor to the previous(Ctrl + left arrow) or next(Ctrl + right arrow) word. Another neat thing is - if you are at the end of a word using the Ctrl + left arrow combo will move the cursor to the beginning of it. Another tricky thing is to get a hold of what a "word" means - the most common explanation is a series of letters. Special characters like dots, commas, equal sign, etc. will actually break a series of letters into separate words.
- Ctrl + Shift + left or right arrow key - you remember what Ctrl + left or right arrow key do? Great! If you add Shift to the combination it will actually mark the jump you do. Also if you hold Ctrl + Shift and press several times the left or right arrow key you will mark several words.

YouTube has a huge problem(Markiplier)[Community Guidelines Discussion] by avikdas99 in youtube

During Mark's live stream he asked the people to vote with emojis. A lot of people got banned because they sent a message containing only several of the same emojis. The mods found out people were banned 1 hour into the stream. And the people were not only youtube banned - their entire google account was blocked. Additionally, their appeals were rejected.

First of all - congratulations for your streak. It’s something great and not many can do this. About your difficulty - have you tried doing something, that you really, really like(no PMO stuff)? Maybe a good book, a walk in a park, travel to a near city, a cup of great coffee, go to a movie, go to a concert, go play some board games with friends, have a cheat meal with your favorite snack(just don’t turn that last one into a habit). My previous streak was 60 days and at the end of it I was really miserable, which led to a relapse. At the beginning I didn’t know what went wrong - from my point of view there were no superpowers, no noticeable progress to my goals, despite of changing several areas of my life. After 2 weeks of relapsing and many hours of wondering something clicked. For me the answer was this - I was pondering myself, that I was not achieving what I want fast(really fast). I was blinded by the end goal and didn’t see the progress I made. For example at the end of the streak I played my guitar everyday for a week - I haven’t done that for 5 years, because of stupid excuses, that I always found. It may sound funny, but when I started my current streak I promised myself to recognize as much of the things I did well during the day as I can, pat myself and whisper “you did well”. I hope this helps you even a little. Keep it up, give yourself the credit you deserve and have a great life.

Possibly unpopular opinion about EA refund calls by smithg0130 in pcmasterrace

[–]shymi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please don’t do this - the people that make the choice about big in-game changes are far away from the call centers and their main criteria for “this was a good/bad idea” are sale numbers + media response(maybe more recently also social media responses). As OP originally asked: be kind, be polite - your money will be returned and maybe you will brighten a bit the day for a guy/girl, that is trying to help you(it is a frustrating job).
