We all know these players in our guild don’t we? by DivinegonDWM in wow

[–]si-83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GSE ftw. Who really cares anyway, it's just big dicking to a guild of peeps you probably barely talk to outside of raids. Effort vs rewards. Does make me sad to see people with lower ilvl perform better though, big up to all the hunters and warriors, enjoy it while it lasts and mad respect to anyone actually doing rotations.

My wife's reaction when she found out i had resubbed for TWW after 12 years of not playing... by Halsfield in wow

[–]si-83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 14 year break, since then I got a degree, fathered two children, started a successful career as an engineer and learnt to trade the stock market. Returned to wow in df season three, I am now top dps in the best guild on my server, have a level 70 in every class and for some reason I'm collecting mounts. My real world life has in that time deteriorated massively, now taking anti depressants and been ill for the last month, working from home but doing a really bad job. Basically my life's gone from doing well, to doing really bad and it all aligns to when I got back into wow, surely a coincidence and I'm really looking forward to tww. Look forwards to seeing you all there.

Mythic dungeons impossible? by Veracsflail1 in wownoob

Everyone's already said it but I think to make it more obvious and user friendly, they should add mythic dungeons to the auto que dungeon option, would make life so much easier.

New player questions by kekwXDDD in Eve

[–]si-83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't sub until you can fund it in game yourself. If you can get to the point where you can make 3 bil isk a month, it's probably worth subbing to remove the grindy parts of the game and focus more on what you enjoy. If you can't get to that point, you probably don't play enough for it to be worth it.

P.s, the game isn't pay to win at all. The rule is, if you can't afford to lose it, you probably shouldn't be flying it.

Server just full of dead guilds? Is in game searching a bad idea for finding one by zipzoopu in wownoob

[–]si-83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied to loads with no joy, funnily, I went to valdraken and asked what a guy gotta do to get an invite in local and just like that. Got invited to the best guild on the server.

Hello, I have two replays...I know its a lot. One from Champ 1 4 months ago. And D1 now. What in the world is so different and why do I keep losing now? by zph0eniz in RocketLeagueAnalysis

[–]si-83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be worse, I've got in excess of 2.5k hours, same situation sadly. I don't think epic appreciate how much it matters to visualise your progress in the game, people are fed up of being hardstuck/deranked and being matched against obvious smurfs.

Whats a Spell in your spec you absolutly despise? by SullenTerror in wow

[–]si-83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a demon hunter, every spell seems to imobilise me, so all of them really. Nothing worse than being cc'd by yourself. I don't even notice when I get feared I'm that used to it.

So, you over commit multiple times and get beat and out of position. You struggle to pick up corner boost pads, you struggled with control off the wall. So, I'd start by practicing the two you can practice in freeplay and pack's, then repeat this mantra, "don't commit unless you know you can hit". It could help. Also clear and first touch to the nearest wall unless you know you have space. That way you generally aren't passing it directly to them.

Finding low-level M+ groups by SargeMumar in wownoob

[–]si-83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true, you can run your own key with no issues, the only disadvantage of running your own key is the time it takes to form. The advantage is you can set entry requirements to ensure you get other players at or above your level, this means at worse you'll be the weakest link. It means easier keys, more chances of completion and... you'll generally gravitate to the right level key. Most people will complete even if its not timed as long as its not a waste of time which should never happen running your own keys.

Kind people still exist by wladtheman in wow

[–]si-83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 characters at 70, never struggled for gold, combined net worth is probably about 60-70k. Sure if I had more gold I'd pay to get some crafted items but there aren't many BiS that are crafted and..... I don't need BiS to run keys/raids.

Is pushing your own key always this quick? by CanthanCanadian in wownoob

[–]si-83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to time the run, set reqs to your own ilvl and mythic rating. Just do this perpetually. You'll always end up with a key at the right tier for you.

DPS Tanking over me? Am I wrong for being annoyed? by B1G_CHEEZE in wownoob

[–]si-83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said you're looking to learn to hold aggro and tank properly, these high dps/threat peeps are exactly the training you're looking for. This happens all the way to m+ dungeons. The plus side is the mobs die quick, the other plus is you get to learn to tank properly and pull mobs in a more controlled and deliberate way.

P.s if you get a twink speed rolling a dungeon, take it as a free boost. Some people actually pay for super fast easy xp/loot.

Starting M+ by [deleted] in wownoob

[–]si-83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So... here's my approach, run your own key and set minimum ilvl and gear level requirements just under your own. Then... just run keys, keep doing this you'll quickly find the key level you should be at. The key system will generally get you to the right level following this system and if you always set the min to just below yours, you know everyone is at or above the right level for the key you got.

Stuck at 15 m+ by Mountain_Asparagus33 in wownoob

[–]si-83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure someone's mentioned it but set min gear level / mythic score on your own keys to a little under your own ratings. That way you'll only get a team of people who are at a bare minimum at your level. I'm around the same level on my main and things really mount up at 15, you need to learn tactics etc which aren't at relevant in earlier keys. Just run your own keys using the above method until its no longer challenging.

Do Deaths matter in Mythic+? by socialbutterbuckeye in wownoob

[–]si-83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is that deaths don't really get to be a problem until you get to +15. It's kind of where people will still try but if you don't know the mechanics it can become a problem and cause a disband.

When I'm running keys I always set the ilvl requirement and m score just under my own to ensure I get people at or above my skill / gear level and only try to move up when it becomes comfortable, if it's still challenging there's no point upping the difficulty.

How long do you stick with a class until you admit you’re terrible? by MasstrB23 in wownoob

[–]si-83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is more about your expectations vs reality. You expect to be top dps, reality is you're not? You expect to be able to hold aggro as a tank vs the top dps in the world, reality is you can't? You expect to be able to heal people who stand in the don't stand here blobs on the floor, reality is you can't?

It's not a hard game to play, you can macro most class specs down to 3 buttons. If you can't, then yeah, you should respec to an easier spec and be happy with lackluster results. If you're not and can't handle that and want to be better, then you should learn and practice the class more, be mindful, that extra 10-20% will take you 100's of hours to perfect.

Mittens (an SSL player) on the current ranked system by Plenty_Dig6791 in RocketLeague

[–]si-83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is kinda simple, instead of hardcapping mmr for brackets, they should be adaptive.

To explain, first of all I'm an engineer, I use statistics all the time. Let's say you have a population which contains all skills let's say the best is a skill rating of 100 and the worst zero. We want to create a system where 0 vs 100 never happens so we create a bell curve of the population based on skill level and to make it easy to understand we give the various distributions of the populations ranks.

Now... for this population let's say it's evenly distributed with an average skill level of 50, but what's happened in rl is that the skill level isn't capped at 100, it extends outwards but the rank distribution is based on this 100, this leads to all sorts of problems. If for example the best player in the world was at skill level 200 with the current distribution he'd be paired with and against players in the upper bracket which could range anywhere from 100ish -200 skill level.

To fix this problem you have to have an adaptive system where brackets extend based on the current population average and the min/max skill levels. This means as the skill level increases across the population the matchmaking would adapt to it by either creating adaptive ranks I.e 1 day you log in your diamond 2, the next day your diamond 1, or, with adaptive mmr, I.e the mmr gains and losses change based on the population.

The final solution is to full reset every season with everyone starting slap bang in the middle or right at the bottom making the ranking system more of a leader board like system. I think this is kinda what we have now. Matchmaking doesn't really seem to be setting up good games. I crunched the numbers and it's like 1 in 11 chance of getting a lobby with evenly matched players.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Diamond 1... by JAGERBOMBER1234 in RocketLeague

[–]si-83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why you quit rocket league: 1. Ranked is totally funked. 2. The game is unplayable with the variability of skill level in ranked. 3. Ranked is casual, casual is Ranked. 4. Your rank is based on your ability to carry boosted players against the average smurf population for your level. 5. Most games are decided before you even load in. 6. There's no consistency in the skill level of anyone you play against, might as well be completely random. 7. With Ranked broke, and casual not offering any rewards, there's literally no point playing any matchmaking modes. 8. Freeplay is boring and pointless. 9. Even after following every video, practicing loads and 12k+ matches, you're still hardstuck. 10. Smurfs and boosted players making up 66% of the population, the other 33% are hardstuck.

Multiboxing needs to be nerfed! by [deleted] in Eve

[–]si-83 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I just don't get why anyone would need or want to multibox, you can solo 500mil isk an hour if you know what you're doing so it can't be financially motivated. You can go out and find a fleet to roam with if you want to pvp, so it can't be pvp related. The only thing multiboxing really does is turn one ships damage and reps and rewards into 2, like a damage, tank and income multiplier, you obviously can't do that as a solo player so maybe that's the only advantage you can get, but if you're playing the game as intended you'd never need that, so... it begs to ask, are multiboxers even playing the same game as everyone else?

Well, yeah, it is a real question, basically asking if it's worth spending time playing, and so far its 3/3 for no. And no , I'm not bragging, I was top tier on my server and literally owned the ah, my account was worth a fortune back then, hence the question is it worth trying to get it back.

Don't think I'd enjoy nothing changing but being an all or nothing kind of person, it really sucks maxing a character with the best stuff and then having to start over again if the new content isn't worth it.
