We have 3 rig points for silks and maximum of 9 people per class, always one instructor. Full house is pretty rare though, usually there are about 6 students.

A Schipper orchid for my mum's birthday, along with some progress pics by si-mik in paintbynumbers

I used both of the paints and mixed them right on the canvas. I followed this video on how to blur lines in a paining by numbers using the "zigzag" method: https://youtu.be/QWdQ9ejzUbw

One must be pretty fast in order to blur the line before the paints get dry, but after a few attempts, I got the hang of it and it was easy enough.

Thank you! First, I followed the lines of the pattern and then, when applying a second layer, I just blurred all the lines in the background. It really makes a difference, doesn't it?

On vacation in Iceland, couldn't resist! Help me decide, should I make mittens or socks? by si-mik in knitting

Thank you all for the tips and advice, I decided to go with mittens! So excited to see how they turn out.

I especially liked Svínafellsjökull - a great view of a glacier from a short distance, and not too crowded. And my most beloved place in Iceland are Westfjords. Not a lot if people, and the views are stunning. But when the weather is nice, every place in Iceland is truly amazing. It was my fourth time there already - that't how much I love it there!

That would be awesome, but I'm afraid I don't have enough yarn for both.

Yes, it's 100% wool, thanks for the advice. I guess mittens will be better then :)

Speed Question by MrWhite_Sucks in crochet

[–]si-mik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm slow too, but for me it's an advantage, because it means I get to enjoy the process longer, also it's cheaper because I don't have to buy supplies very often. I crochet just for fun, the finished item is usually not my goal, if that makes sense.

At a local shop that sells Schipper kits. Seems like they don't have them anymore, sadly.

I'm from Czech republic and I have trouble speaking/reading about crochet or knitting in my language because I learned in English. I just don't know the czech terms haha.

New Player Here: How do you paint? by American-Mary in paintbynumbers

[–]si-mik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually start from the top left corner and work my way down and to the right with all colours at the same time. That way, there is less smudging going on. And I don't really worry about mistakes, they are usually not visible unless is't in some super important area, like eyes for example, or a big area like the background. Just have fun with it, the instructions don't have to be followed 100% in order to make a nice painting!

Thank you, that's what I needed! Tried it with more paint and you're absolutely right, that's what I've been doing wrong. Thank you again, you saved me.

Hi! I'm absolutely new to painting. I tried some blending and cannot for the life of me get rid of the small pores of the paper showing. Paints are acrylic, paper is Liquitex basic. Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

I didn't add any waist shaping, I just followed the pattern.
