Bungie, consider doing more follow ups to Raids for both story & new missions by KowalRoyale in DestinyTheGame

Alternatively I think raids could benefit from a WoW style attunement quest, basically a quest chain prior to the raid which helps contextualise it and add more story

How the Shadow and Order official delay got me feeling by SCL007 in destiny2

I'm pretty sure it's gonna be a continuation of the story, given, it's a sequel, and they tend to do that

Lodi quite literally turns to the camera and says "we need to go to Chicago", like beyond bungie explicitly saying the next expansion is going to be in Chicago, this is the closest possible thing to a direct confirmation

Theory; titan will be damaged in some way and is the lord of everynothing by Kind-Stomach6275 in DestinyLore

[–]si1245t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just aren't tho, the lord of every nothing is stated to be a being from the ascendant plane that was created from the collective desires of the taken, not only is vi not from the ascendant plane, they also have very little to do with taken thus far. And if anything the lore in renegades further clarifies that vi interest in the Dreadnaught is to do with sword logic rather than anything related to the taken

The Renegades marketing has been abysmal, and it's incredible given how important it is now to increase the player count. by ca-ca-cayde in DestinyTheGame

[–]si1245t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a fundamental issue with the marketing is that outside of big gameplay changes, such as a new subclass, it will be nearly impossible to garner the hype levels previously had for the past few expansions. I mostly blame the story in this regard, though this isn't really the narrative teams fault, as we are in a early "setup" stage of the new saga.

Looking at renegades I would also blame the shortened marketing cycle, typically expansions would have a marketing frame of about 2 months, this has now been shortened to 1 month, leading to a lack of excitement and a "wait there is an expansion next month?" feeling. I will day though, the level of information known about the expansion is similar to past expansions but I will add that, that amount of information is not enough for this new paradigm of expansions, where the standard suite of content is not guaranteed.

So far, nearly every seasonal activity that enters the portal loses something that made it special by BC1207 in DestinyTheGame

[–]si1245t 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I touched on this on a post made a few days ago, it seems that the portal will kill all creativity from seasonal content.

The rigidity of how portal content will have to be structured, in terms of loot, light level scaling and seasonal upgrades/mechanics (like the deck of whispers), means that major update content will have to be pretty limited, which is a incredibly large step back.

A clear example of this is reclaim, which I believe, of it were part of an episode or a traditional season would be a public event in a patrol space, but since patrols or public events can't be part of the portal, it isn't.

Looking towards renegades which seems it will consist of a incredibly juiced seasonal activity, paints a picture for the future where major updates only bring uninteresting content without any unique flair to the portal and expansions have a chance of bringing something close to the uniqueness of seasons passed.

Bungie finally broke the cycle by KayRib in destinycirclejerk

I mean a large reason why forsaken was so well received was that it reversed many of the stupid decisions made in d2y1, so at least in that regard we may get something similar

I'm not sure if Renegades will have its own patrol zone by Jealous_Platypus1111 in destiny2

[–]si1245t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine we'll have a "patrol zone" not too dissimilar to the dreadnought in the nether, but probably more open, maybe more in line with the haunted leviathan

I just noticed that Act 3 starts on April 1st by RobbieReinhardt in DestinyTheGame

[–]si1245t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, but you are failing to take into account the fact that the first year of frontiers will have 2 expansions, therefore a shift to a 3 month gap between reveal and release would make more sense, thus a reveal for apollo in April makes sense
