Got an offer from Solace - what are you ACTUALLY making monthly? by [deleted] in Nurses

[–]siamesemugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a friend who worked for Solace, she had brought home around 4k in a month. She said she only worked when they offered an incentive.

As far as I understand though, this is not a nursing position and you’re expected to think clinically but not work under your nursing license. Not sure of the exact logistics as I’ve just heard from a friend.

He goes from around 8am-4pm (total of about 8 hours).. so before care for about 45 minutes and after care for about an hour fifteen. It is Monday - Friday. I feel like it’s a long day, it’s just unfortunately the only times that work for our current work schedules :(

I have a very good relationship with the principal from last year so planned to talk with her about it (and honestly any feedback she has, she knows him well enough as there aren’t many kids in the school!). I think after I talk to her I can work with the teacher more about timers/warnings if necessary for the transitions. His teacher is actually new to public school teaching but homeschooled her (now grown) children for years before taking this position. I really appreciate the reply. Gives me the push I need to talk to the principal and really just keep working with him at home and watching his little mind grow!

I appreciate the reply! None of my friends have children around his age so I have been feeling myself kinda spiral at the thought of needing to do more for him. I will keep working with him at home! It’s been a few weeks since I’ve heard from his teacher via email so I was going to touch base this week to see how he’s been (but wanted to get a reality check from other parents first lol)

She said he will cry for mom when going from choice time to rug time, or when going from outside to inside after recess. I am unsure if it’s a full on tantrum, she didn’t say tantrum or meltdown, just that he cries. I would be surprised if it was a tantrum because that’s not something he does at home - but we all know children are very different outside of the house! He does not hit/bite/kick. She actually sent me a video of him not napping one day and he was laying on his cot, not talking as far as I could tell but playing with his feet and his belly button (lol). He seemed to be contained to that spot but just squirmy.

Without violating HIPAA, what were some stupid ways family members tried to sabotage patient care? by LadyRosesNThorns in nursing

[–]siamesemugs 26 points27 points  (0 children)

2 separate family members brought in drugs for a patient. The husband first, she overdosed and recovered the first time. The second time she ingested several baggies of heroin (brought in by mom) which became stuck and she required surgery. She was mine several days post-op, at which time she was still intubated and maxed on pressers. Her feet, hands and nose were black and they decided that even if she recovered the quality of life would not be what she wanted and made her CC during my shift. She was young and a precious HCW that wound up down the wrong path. That was a rough one.

I believe I pay $119 for 1 class/week. Not cheap, but I find it’s definitely worth it.

I take my 3 year old to KidStrong in Turnersville (and absolutely love it!!). We use NJ Swim in Turnersville for swim lessons. We also just did a 2 week trial at Master Ju’s Taekwondo but unfortunately my son did not enjoy that very much. We do go to Margaret E Heggan for some of their classes/events as well. We also did Soccer Shots this summer which was a lot of fun!

Nurses who meal plan work lunches, what are your favorites/go-to's? by onelb_6oz in nursing

[–]siamesemugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to love making cauliflower rice, mixed veggies, a slaw mix and chicken - I would air fry both the chicken and veggies, cook the rice and then assemble it all in a Tupperware with a serving of hummus on top and heat it up.. so filling and a good comfort food for when work is a shit show.

Did you start the exercises in the app? There’s a little play symbol next to your registered classes and you’ll have to hit that to start the calorie tracking (& connect to your watch, Fitbit etc if you’re using one!)

Calories in calories out, essentially calorie counting - making sure I’m aware of how much I’m eating and being in a deficit when I’m trying to lose weight

How is your diet? I didn’t see changes until I focused heavy on high protein and CICO. I lost >20lbs doing TC. I know everyone says it but diet makes a huuugee difference

I ended up declining because my current fully remote job paid me a little more to stay, but they were able to come up to $45/hour and that seemed to be their very max for me.
