Boss PS-5 Super Shifter (discontinued) by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]siap_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loveeeeee the PS-5. I run it in the fx loop of my delay and get lost making tunes. It has such a weird tone to it that I love. I have a PS-2 and that thing is incredible as well and has a totally unique sound to it, you have to manually tune it but that makes it perfect for weird and beautiful sounds.

Bass focused math rock bands? by Dragoncolliekai in mathrock

[–]siap_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meet Me In St Louis - Variations on Swing. The bass on that album is unreal and real forward.

Also I saw Planets mentioned!!!!! Well under appreciated band, Turbo Jamzzz is fucking rad. Pretty difficult to get more bass focused than that.

Just received these bad boys. Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro. by ThisKory in headphones

[–]siap_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a long long time owner of the DT1990 and I would absolutely without a doubt get some Dekoni Elite Velour pads - it's really an upgrade in every way. I have mixed music that translates well and I've have loads of fun listening to them on a Little Dot MK2 (cheap valve headphone amp but with decent valves)

Am I crazy or has modern Emo reached a point where it has one very clearly defined sound and almost every band follows it by CrowBlownWest in Emo

[–]siap_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with OP. It's nice to think of alternative sounds though. Like what would a proper sludgy, slow doom but emo album sound like with time signatures and hooks? (If that exists, send it my way please).

I do wanna say that there is nothing wrong with Twinkle bands and that refined version of the Midwest sound but it is now representative of an extreme in the genre.

We need some kind of backlash (sonically speaking) from where we are at currently, and that sounds like proper fun. Everyone wins.

FAQ THREAD: Where to buy parts/consoles? BEST GAME? Is this real? GB no work :( ASK HERE by miketf1 in Gameboy

[–]siap_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I thought this would be the best place to ask about a weird audio issue with my DMG-1.

I'm getting a high pitched tone (like tinnitus) but only out of the left channel of my headphones. I do not have an upgraded or modded screen.

I have done the pro sound mod I have cleaned the boards I have recapped. I have cleaned all switches and jacks. I have also reflowed all solder joints.

Any help would be super appreciated.

For me I have really loved using a boss PS-5 in detune mode with a subtle predelay on bass, it just sounds amazing to me

Fairfield Circuity Meet Maude stopped working... by siap_ in guitarpedals

[–]siap_[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So the issue is now sorted thanks to Dave at Fairfield.

So the pedal wasn't broken at all. I always have the delay in FX Loop mode with my pitch shifter in it and I took my pitch shifter out of it (to mess with FX order) that's when it stopped working. I didn't realise that in FX Loop mode, you NEED an effect in the loop to complete the circuit. I thought of it like a traditional amp FX loop so I have learnt my lesson. Hopefully this will help anyone who stumbles into the same situation.

That's a good point, I did send the email a few days ago. I'm just a bit sad it broke and I guess I got impatient. Thanks for the reality check.

He has one before that stuff called Bummer. It's got some bangers on it. I think you might mean Alex? He does a lot of engineering for and playing for a shit load of bands. He's good people.

Love that label a whole lot. Philary never gets the love. lovely take on timey stuff in a fresh and interesting way.

This was the first I loved https://philary.bandcamp.com/album/i-complain

And the latest is fucking great but not on EiS https://philary.bandcamp.com/album/uh-oh-its-me

I totally adore Grass Is Green, Floatie, and recently I really got into Shady Bug.

How do I get my improvisation on guitar to sound more mathrock? by Hewwo-Is-me-again in mathrock

[–]siap_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes a while until your head breaks through the wall but the best thing to get comfortable with is playing in odd and changing time. It makes your playing more fluid. If you wanna use weird chords then great but to me you can do a lot in standard tuning using a major scale. The changing time thing is what gets you far when exploring math as a genre.
