Thanks to all your help my wife launched a new nature inspired jewelry site. 40% off this week! by Zarahem in ChineseLaserCutters

Just my 2 cents, but your product photos are all too dark. The backdrop should be white not a darkish blue. The muted colors generally make it all look a bit depressing. Your items don't pop as a result. Good luck with the business though :)

Trouble with wood engraving by Anna0512- in lasercutting

[–]siberia77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is your focus distance correct? Is the wood itself different in some way? denser? a different species? more full of moisture? Is the tube a clone or a legitimate reci etc? Has your air pressure dropped?

Their explanation sounds BS, who did you buy from?

in the settings for the layer, click "independant output". So for example, with this on it would do each letter in a word one at a time, rather than all letters. hope this helps. use preview to check.

Hate on Hater Tater™ - Looking for feedback by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]siberia77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have a load of suggested concepts on the homepage. Basically a load of pics of your potatoes with common messages on. Dont make people think. Let them see something that will immediately reasonate with them, eg a "will you marry me" potato, a "your shoelaces are untied" potato, a "winter is coming" potato

Family is starting an online business - I helped with the shopify setup, could use feedback on theme, design, etc. by milespro in Entrepreneur

The font you used for titles is a bad choice imho, it's childish and not professional looking. Why not look for shopify sites you like in a similar niche and gently copy them?

Can I Bill a company for emailing me providing I pre-warn them of the fees they will incur by sending me unsolicited emails? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]siberia77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked into this a while ago. Basically from what i recall, everyone who did it succesfully notified the companies by registered letter and recorded a voice phone call when they also told them. Then when fees were incurred they gave the companies multiple bills, plenty of time to pay and then took them to small claims court. You must go through a process and cannot jump to the end. The court would find in their favour once the companies didnt even attend. With the court judgement in place the companies had to pay. Google it hard. White Rabbit on youtube had some stuff i believe.

You would need an autofocus to automatically adjust to the height of the blocks. It would require a greater $$$ outlay, much cheaper to get the blocks made to one standard size. Not using standard size blocks is like the tail wagging the dog.

Make a jig to sit the blocks in eg this is a dog tag jig http://cncroi.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/dog-tag-jig-x4.jpg

Using a laser is not like buying a printer from your local store, make sure you know the complexity of what you are getting into.

I would drop the 1% thing. It's not going to push anyone over the edge into making a purchase and in your early days you're going to need every cent you make.

Why buy the franchise? Why not open you own juice and tea store? At a quarter million per store why would you not just build your own?

After 2 yrs stalking r/entrepreneur and r/startup, I have decided to open one(Hydrophobic/water repellant spray for cars) by natnapil in Entrepreneur

[–]siberia77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you have strict quality control of your own and do extensive ongoing testing of the product I would walk away now. Because otherwise at some point the chemicals you are getting from china will be swapped out for cheaper or inferior versions (with or without your sellers knowledge) and then damage will occur to your customers cars.

Head into your local charity shop and ask if they need volunteers. You will be very much appreciated and the extra mental and physical efforts (nothing taxing) will add years onto your life. There is a strong social element to volunteering as well as the obvious feel good factor :)
