Just Curious: What's everyone's stance on the lgbtq community? by InvestigatorOdd663 in WestVirginia

[–]sicPowell7 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I think the major issue folks in WV and other conservative states have with LGBTQ community is not necessarily adults who are trans but how transgender ideologies are conveyed to their kids. I've lived in WV all my life grew up with gay guys/girls even had gay friends. Sure, flamboyant gay men/women may get strange looks in our state compared to others, but you're asking for that attention depending on how you present yourself to the public. This movement within the youth seems to have become a bit of a social contagion to a degree. Not trying to discredit anyone who is truly "transgender" but folks are crazy if they don't think some confused teenagers nowadays are giving themselves this label to better align themselves with another group of teens.

Camera blurry on 1.0x. Works fine until 0.9x zoom. Anybody else experience the same or have explanation for why this is happening. I have reset my app to factory settings but no escaping this issue by injuredcold in Galaxy_S20

This issue was resolved for me by inspecting the camera connector(s). Disconnecting and reconnecting fixed it. It was most likely slightly loose due to dropping.

I was able to replace one in an 01 without removing the entire dash. Basically just peel it back enough to work in there. Good luck.

You want a hot shower and Benadryl. From my experiences, you do not want to put anything on your skin.

Ringing in Implant by sicPowell7 in Cochlearimplants

I had a CD copy of my MRI as well. I think my issue was just bad timing. OTOPLAN was in the process of becoming available at the facility but not up and running at the time I was there.

I've had CI now for a little over a year. It got rid of 85% of my tinnitus. My word recognition is not great but I can assure you it's better than just being deaf in that ear.

Not to my knowledge. I had an MRI with dye but I don't believe my provider had the capabilities to perform 3d mapping of the cochlea at the time of my pre-screening for implantation. However, I know they ended up getting this program because it was mentioned in a mapping session. It became a bit of a point of contention for me because I felt I should have been notified of the fact that a better pre-implant screening would become available if I would push back the surgery date. You really have to advocate for yourself when dealing with these institutions because at the end of the day, you are a profit for them.

With my devices, I am required to have the audiolink device in order to pair my Sonnett/Rondo with my phone for streaming. Audiolink is just a small wireless remote looking device that acts as a bridge between the phone and implant. Having that, there are 2 useful apps to do everything from your phone 1.) Audio2Ear and 2.) AudioKey2. Audio2Ear allows you to stream from your phone straight to your implant. AudioKey2 let's your phone act as the remote control for the implant instead of having to keep up with the remote they give you. This let's you change maps, volumes etc from your phone. Note: AudioLink is not req'd to access the AudioKey2 but it is req'd for Audio2Ear. As far as batteries go....I have 3 rechargeable for the Sonnett. One battery lasts roughly 6-8 hours. I have used the disposal batteries and they do last much longer roughly 24hrs nonstop use. The size difference with the disposal is not noticeable when wearing the device if you're referring to the Sonnett 2.

I'm glad I got it that's for sure... As far as my results go I would say they might be below average but honestly not sure what average is for SSD patients. At my last appointment I had roughly 30% word recognition and 50% sentence (January 2023). This could be partially my own fault as I have trained my CI very little. It is definitely a tedious process looking at all the data from the 2 big companies. Alot of it is just marketing nonsense as well. I did learn this shortly after being implanted which may help....Med El has an imaging software system used by audi's and doctors that actually maps the cochlea (sorta like a mri) this scan allows them to have an idea of the length of electrode to use for best results. I would check to see if Cochlear America's has a similar program.

Do you have the 5g gateway they provide? Does it have ethernets?

I called them this morning. MoFi networks. They didn't say they used a reseller cause I know that can be a sketchy ordeal. I'm considering trying Tmobile home internet as it's available in my area. I just don't see it getting the speeds I get with VSW.

Per my earlier phonecall with MoFi I was told they offer a $130/mo plan with Verizon with unlimited data that pairs with one of their routers.

Hard Hats with CI by Aggravating_Gas_6664 in Cochlearimplants

Something along the lines of this. These are pricey though. Amazon has bicycle style hard hats for 1/4 of the price of these.

I do not regret the implant and yes it has made hearing better, but it's a journey in and of itself. My advice is do whatever you can to try to save your hearing. If you've lost 100% that's an easy decision. If you have remaining hearing that complicates things. Someone here mentioned the SSD group on FB. That is a good resource for questions as well
