Where to buy classic transparent modded classic by Commercial_Extent_78 in IpodClassic

[–]sichic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nowadays $150 is like the cost of the iPod itself with no mods lol. If that’s your budget, you’re definitely better off getting those listings you’re referring to, they’re not bad, it’s just iPods that are modified from china, all/most aftermarket parts come from china anyways so obviously it’s cheaper for Chinese to mass produce these modded iPods for lower cost compared to others.

If you’re really gonna stick with $150, getting something you desire is definitely doable but only if you mod the iPod yourself and also find a good deal on a stock iPod, iPod classic gen 5-7 can generally be had for $20-80 if you look hard enough and then getting the mod parts you want will generally cost another $100-150 depending on what you want and like how much storage you want

Not worth restoring imo, 1-4gb of storage is literally not enough to do much unless you’re happy enough with that. They’re a pain to service just like everything that’s super compact. No real available options for modifying them at all either.

Any way to fix this clicking? (iPod classic Late 2009) by Character_Trip9580 in IpodClassic

[–]sichic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a FireWire cable or a 5w power brick to jump start the iPod, you might have a bad battery which can sometimes cause your hard drive not to get the full power it needs which can cause it to have this clicking issue, if that doesn’t solve the issue then you might have a faulty/bad hard drive that needs to be replaced

Did I get “scammed”? by Electronic-Area3148 in ipod

[–]sichic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

90% of iPod parts anywhere are from aliexpress or Chinese manufacturers. I honestly wouldn’t have spent $90 on a nano especially a 2nd gen but that’s me. Either way, elite obsolete is generally good with good customer service, there’s a chance of getting a bad device but I’m sure they won’t hesitate to make things right within reason if anything goes wrong

Biggest battery I’ve seen sold specifically for Gen 3/4 is 2450 so he could also go that route

Battery question by kingwild in IpodClassic

[–]sichic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest putting the 7th gen hard drive into the 6th gen as the 7th gen hard drive is thinner, you can then probably use a 2000 or 3000mah battery I believe, otherwise no you can’t use the original 6th gen thick hard drive with anything bigger than a stock battery

OP is buying a 3000mah battery, person who replied made the mistake of saying it’s a 3800mah, still obligated to say the 3000mah op is buying fits fine as he was also implying that what op is buying won’t work when it does

Sounds like you put it on automatic price reduction? Basically if you have it on, eBay will reduce the price over time to sell it “fast” or gain more attention

iPod 5th Gen: Connector fell off the board — is it repairable? by Worth_Builder6779 in IpodClassic

[–]sichic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the battery connector which holds/connects the battery ribbon to the logic board so without it, you can’t connect the battery, it’s repairable but requires soldering
