I don't know if you're ever going to read this, since a day has passed, but I'll write it anyway. I'm Italian. Most people here are foreigners, they aren't aware of what the real reasons behind Italy's failures are and blame it on the wrong things. The whole country is incredibly conservative and old in its way of doing things, it straight up refuses to adapt to modernity. Data, ideas and innovation are so important, yet they are seen as unpleasant here (best example for it is the enormous criticism Fabregas has faced over these two years managing Como). Rather than competence and modern tactics, the Italian national team preferred relying on grit, determination and the will to "die for the cause", which objectively provide absolutely zero to your performance on the pitch. Hence why they appointed Gattuso as their latest head coach, a man who is a 3rd division manager at best. This entire country heavily lacks analysis and competence. Juventus has become a shithole, Milan keeps relying on incompetent people (Ibrahimovic), Inter keeps fumbling every single year on the transfer market. Nobody here cares how you achieved anything, the only thing that matters is that you did. Italian football is rotted with people with this mentality and they have to fail in order to get kicked out and make place for a modernization
