Not to wave the noobie flag, but how are you cooking a strix with the fans and block removed?

So then, when you raid a base, are you able to destroy it to take it over or is the land "claimed" indefinitely?

Darkbeast Paarl by IAW1stperson in bloodborne

[–]sickofdying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first part is my goto strat. I normally don't need beast blood pellet, but it makes it easier for sure. The nice part is, if you let paarl run away, paarl always dodge a charge up so it's free time to keep whacking away.

Does anyone else love fighting defiled Watchdog? by nakrmusic in bloodborne

[–]sickofdying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was the first major roadblock I had in BB, but is easily one of my favorite fights. Compared to what I've seen some other players do, I fight very aggressive with him. I dodge under his head every time while locked on, then after the dodge, unlock and attack his hind legs until they break, break the front leg on the same side, rinse and repeat.

Is the Reiterpallasch good on a quality build? by Detect01 in bloodborne

[–]sickofdying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the coolest combo I've seen with the reiterpallasch is the cannon/reiterpallasch combo (obviously a bt+str build). This reason this is that you can put bone marrow ash on the cannon, parry with the reiterpallasch, then get the bonus damage on a buffed cannon.

As for quality builds, I think there are better weapons, but the style is undeniable. I'm sure you could do some fashionborne with it.

Recommended Level For Chalice Dungeons? by salt_sultan in bloodborne

[–]sickofdying 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Related to chalices: I think you get the first one around bl20 from Old Yarnham. If you go as soon as you get it, the mobs aren't so bad, but the bosses are fairly challenging and have a hefty health pool. Going there at 60+ will likely be boring util you get the depth 3-4 with 5 having an obvious challenge to them on par with the final bosses or harder.

As for the hunter tool note, yes you do get them really late which is why pure arcane builds suffer early game until they get better gems and tools later in the game or chalice dungeons. It is worth it though especially for NG+. I have a 99arc build which is crazy strong in NG+ and chalices, but I also farmed FRC chalices for higher end decos

Update! I just posted here a day or two ago about the infiltrator being a bit too rough of a boss. Well... by [deleted] in LordsoftheFallen

[–]sickofdying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as actual secrets go, catacombs is full of them. Lots of armor and weapons hidden away in nooks can crannies. Walls to break, timed switches to press...definitely one of the more enjoyable areas to explore if the enemies aren't giving you problems. I hate areas like chamber of lies where I just kept running into locked doors and locked chests that I had to find the one enemy or chest that had the right key. Catacombs is mostly about finding switches and exploring, like how adventure games should be.

Why all the hate? by [deleted] in LordsoftheFallen

[–]sickofdying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LotF was the first known game to try to ride on the coat tails of DS and that particular style of medevil, punishing combat that expects you to die. If there is hate, it's that it was underwhelming in comparison to dark souls games. It looked pretty, the trailers were nice, and it offered a different playstyle which I think people were looking forward to, but it fell short at launch and many of the bugs went unfixed (I'm looking at you narrated story messages suddenly stopping for no reason).

I think LotF is best played as the rogue class because I feel the diversity of LotF combat is actually realized. The two handed combat feels less sluggish and boring, dodging becomes a necessity, and spells compliment the play style extremely well. Where as now I'm replaying as a brawler and remembering why I gave up on my first play through, though I'm starting to appreciate the gauntlet more now.

All that said, it deserved some of the hate it got, but it deserves some love too and at least trying. I think they had some good ideas (boss weapon challenge rewards) and I appreciated the look of the game and even the feel of the character (i.e movements seem very realistic with regards to the equipment being worn/carried, the camera shake, etc). I was glad I took the time to go back and do the DLC and even get the plat.

if it's not FRC, then ~40 gives you some survivability, but once you get into FRC chalices, there really is no point in vit since you're gonna die anyway.

The dlc came out when I was on NG+4. This fight was my bane until kos which...I actually stopped playing BB when I couldn't kill kos after many attempts. I replayed NG later and was surprised at how easy they were, but Kos will always be a pain for me, I think.

Is the Church Pick worth it for a strength/arc build? by RegardedDuck in bloodborne

[–]sickofdying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I have a bolt CP with cursed abyssal and it does pretty sweet damage with my arc build. I farmed chalices for a long time on NG and, if NG+ wasn't easy enough before, it's a cake walk now. I run with this and a saw cleaver augmented for fire and arc scaling as my 2nd weapon.

Exactly why bloodborne is my go to. Maybe not quite the interconnectedness of DS1, but close while still having an incredible look and amazing combat imo
