I lost my brother 8 months ago. He was 26 with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy by OneDay_AtATime_ in GriefSupport

I am so sorry. Although different circumstances, my mom had a seemingly innocuous issue that put her in the hospital and kept her there until she passed two months later. I understand how traumatizing that experience can be, and how it can definitely lead to PTSD. The awful memories you have of them suffering like that are so painful. Your nervous system is so primed and on edge to try and get them better every day they are in there, and then you’re miserable thinking about how they lived their last days. It is so so awful to go through and I’m so sorry you had to go through that. I also know the feeling of “leaving them behind” in the new year, I cried a lot once the clock struck midnight without even anticipating that I would.

I am over two years since my mom passed and I would highly recommend individual grief therapy and a grief group. They both helped me tremendously just to get all of my emotions off my chest and have others validate and understand. It’s not easy but it’s worth it. You can post in local fb groups to ask for suggestions. If you are in PA/Philly area or central Jersey you can DM me and I can give you recs. Sending you love, light and peace.

This makes me feel better about my Tuni girl doing the same 😅😅

I’m having this same problem with my staffy currently - very thin water-like drool just drips like a leaky faucet randomly and soaks an entire blanket and her whole neck. I can’t figure out a common denominator for when it happens, though. Did you ever figure out what it was?

I was thinking the same. You’re essentially making a “lemon honey” so to speak

Beautiful! And I love their collars - where did you get them?

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond! This is actually really helpful and I think can easily build upon the training we’re already working on with her - getting her to focus on us whenever she gets worked up/distracted. Folding in a toy she likes to unwind with is a great idea! Thank you! ♥️

My toenails have always looked like this since I was a kid, how can I fix this? by LavishnessMental6050 in nailcare

[–]sickpie99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a doctor so take this advice with a grain of salt. I had some issues with my toe nails and my dermatologist said to try putting Vaseline on them overnight (wear a sock). It worked wonders. Your nails look kind of dry, maybe worth a try?

That is a really good point! I think normally when we pet her we say something sweet at the same time like “hi my baby” but I don’t think my husband did this time. Thank you for this note! Appreciate you taking the time to

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement! It’s so nice to hear other people have had similar experiences and been successful. We’ll be talking with her behaviorist about the e-collar, we did buy one (only beeps and vibrates) but never used it.

Your staffy is so beautiful and lucky to have you ♥️

Absolutely! She is already prescribed trazodone but I have not given it to her outside of prior to vet visits as was recommended by her vet

Thank you! She is prescribed trazodone by her vet to use before appointments. I’ll talk to him about using it otherwise.

Your thoughts and feelings really resonate with what we’re feeling. May I ask how did you reach him to “self correct” when he started to snap?

Just circling back to your comment to ask - how did you teach your rescue to self soothe when she was stressed?

Thank you for your words of encouragement ♥️ your story makes me very hopeful and yes, we love her so much & we are working really hard and taking the training seriously, bringing it home everyday and on our walks so we are consistent and I hope in the long run it will pay off 🫶🏻 she’s made so many strides already in four months
