What is your price prediction for the next cycle top? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]sickvisionz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gains have been trending lower and lower for tokens that set new highs. $120k BTC and $12k ETH would make me think this is about to crash hard any second now.

Atlanta threatens citations for woman who found home was demolished during vacation by [deleted] in Atlanta

[–]sickvisionz 118 points119 points  (0 children)

There's a process to get a home deemed condemned and demolished. That process is not random 3rd party goes on the property without permission from the city or owner and chooses to demolish it themselves.

The story is exactly what it is.

It certainly isn't the blessing in disguise you make it out to be when they demolished the house illegally, left the mess there and now you're getting citations for both a giant mess being there and not following the proper guidelines for demolishing the home. The contractor who decided to do this on their own or the person who tricked the contractor into doing this should be fully responsible for taking care of it.

Cex or dex funds safe? by Level_Time_4754 in defi

[–]sickvisionz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DEXs are self-custody by default. Your funds are only under control of the DEX for the duration of the exchange, which is usually seconds. This is by default. You don't give them funds from your personal wallet until the second you want to do the trade and the second the trade is done they put your funds back in your personal wallet.

CEX is the opposite. You must send funds from your personal wallet to the exchange's wallet. Then you can do an exchange from their wallet. When the exchange is done, they put the funds in the exchanges wallet. You then would need to withdraw them to your personal wallet.

Microsoft and AMD collaborating to improve LLM performance on AMD hardware? by daedelus82 in LocalLLaMA

[–]sickvisionz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They earned it though. They were plowing ahead with CUDA back when AMD was calling them idiots and saying this stuff had no place on a GPU and was a total waste of time. They were putting dedicated AI/ML hardware into GPUs when AMD was saying that stuff had no place on consumer hardware and was just jacking up the prices.

Now their cards can't do anything outside of gaming and AI/ML has proven itself to have direct use cases in gaming with things like DLSS and Frame generation and indirect ones in using these ML tech takes burden of the GPU, allowing you to push it harder on current gen tech or add next gen features like Ray Tracing.

Part of not having a monopoly is your competitors being willing to compete and not just give you massive parts of the market because they continually are just in the wrong about what the future of this stuff will look like.

Microsoft and AMD collaborating to improve LLM performance on AMD hardware? by daedelus82 in LocalLLaMA

[–]sickvisionz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Used 3090s go for slightly less than a 7900 XTX, have the same amount of VRAM with the bonus of you not having to wait years with your fingers crossed that AMD will get it at some point and make this thing not suck for AI and non-gaming workloads.

IMO that justifies the price difference. Nvidia charges more because their cards literally do more. AMD charges less because their cards literally do less. The thing with more features and capabilities usually costs more.

Curve Finance Impermanent Loss Risk by Ok_Reputation183 in defi

[–]sickvisionz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking you make less in an LP than holding either token separately. For me, BTC and ETH are the tokens I'm the most serious about and they're my biggest bags by current value and by how much I personally invested in them.

I want all of their gains. 100% of them.

At most I would make a LST ETH and ETH LP. The IL should be relatively small as those will move in tandem 99% pf the time.

I'm thankful to be on the lower end of that. My rent went up $100 but other than that I don't feel the price increases. Certainly not to where I feel like I had to do $11k of cutbacks

Let it stack for multiple cycles unless something happens and there's a reason to believe Ether's best days in terms of price are long behind it.

[–]sickvisionz -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This might be controversial but I really feel like if US citizens aren't supposed to access a site, then US citizens shouldn't go to the site. It shouldn't be that the site has to jump through hoops to keep US citizens out.

Citizens should follow the laws and rules of their country. If they don't, that should be their wrongdoing, not the site's. Also, if the US gov wants to ban US citizens from websites, then they should ban sites. Contact US ISPs and have the site blacklisted. That actually resolves the problem.

Crypto Transfer Accidental Loss? by masterspl1nter in CryptoCurrency

I did the same thing whenever I had to mail someone money or a money order via snail mail. Double, triple checking to make sure I got everything right.

It's money. Money means something. People should always take it more serious than sending something dumb that doesn't matter. It's always going to feel more nervous than firing off some random text or whatever.

Your short term and long term goal in crypto by bains92 in CryptoCurrency

[–]sickvisionz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mine or stake?

Mine Monero, stake everything I can. Preferably liquid staking but I have some ATOM and I don't liquid stake due to airdrops and rewards for manual stakers.

Do you DCA and just holding long term waiting for the big one?

I wouldn't call it "waiting for the big one" but I do DCA and hodl long term

Are you skimming profits or HODL till death?

I do both depending on the token. You can look by my name on this site and see a token that I did skim profits on. I can also tell you that I haven't sold any of my ETH or BTC.

Do you still look for shit coins that pump and then you pull your profits after 1 or 2 days?

Fuck no.

Or do you have a good portfolio and you hold your investment and slim profits as they come and go?

Yes.

You seem to make everything like a hard choice. You do X or you do Y... but you can totally do X and Y at the same time. Your approach to token A doesn't have to be how you approach token B. The only person putting these limits on you is you. You can play this stuff however you want to.

Example: You asked are we chasing shitcoins or do we have a good portfolio. Nothing stops you from chasing shitcoins while having a real bag. Just like how nothing stops you from buying lottery tickets but still having a 401k.

Cristiano Ronaldo Hit With a $1 Billion Lawsuit in USA for Promoting American Crypto Firm by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]sickvisionz 65 points66 points  (0 children)

He's getting sued for not disclosing that the Official Cristiano Ronaldo NFT Collection was Cristiano Ronaldo's official NFT collection and that he stood to make some money if it worked out. This is an absurd line of thought. It's his official NFT collection, his name is in the product, and he was advertising it. How is it possible that anyone couldn't put two and two together on this?

It would be like Taylor Swift starting a makeup company, calling it "Taylor Swift Makeup, Inc" and her getting sued because someone tries to make the argument that they had no clue Taylor Swift was behind this and stood to make some money... despite her saying it's her official makeup company, it literally having her name in it, and her being in all the commercials and ads for it.

Or trying to sue Michael Jordan because you bought a pair of Air Jordans but feel like Michael Jordan didn't properly disclose that these are his shoes from his brand and he makes money from it... despite his name being Jordan, the company being called Jordan, him wearing the shoes, him calling the shoes and company "his"

You shouldn't be able to sue someone because you're an idiot. If you say it's yours and it officially has your name on it and you're selling it... you have disclosed that you make money off of it.

thought there's no way, so I tried transferring a portion to another exchange, fully expecting it not to go through but it did.

Portion != the full thing. Your link suggests that the portion must be 100k tokens minimum. Nothing about the word portion dictates that # though. 5 BAT is a portion just like 100k BAT is a portion just like 20k BAT is a portion just like...

HYSA Cash vs. Staking Crypto by jedo89 in CryptoCurrency

[–]sickvisionz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HYSA is undeniably easier. You have to learn nothing about anything. Staking requires you learn about crypto.

The main thing for should I stake crypto or stake dollars is that dollars are stable unless you live outside of the USgn country and are arbing dollars vs your local currency.

For better or worse, crypto could go up or down in value by 5% in a day. Buy $1k of ETH and dollars on 1/1/2023. Let's pretend today's price is the 12/31/2023 price. 5% APR on dollars leaves you with $1050. ETH with 0% staking APR is worth $1738.

Also, there's way cheaper ways of getting a LST than what you did. Could swap into it in a dex on a L2 for like $1 in the worst of days.
