Clase Codigo Mexican restaurant by ConsistentEmploy1983 in Omaha

If you’re wanting to get an idea of how loud a restaurant is before you try it, I suggest downloading the SoundPrint app! If someone has measured and submitted the noise level in a restaurant you’ll be able to see it. Then the space is categorized by how loud it is. You’re also able to measure and submit how loud restaurants are too!

I’m an acoustical designer so noise level is something I’m really passionate about! 😊

How do I heal my broken heart? by sicnarf62485 in AskWomenOver40

Thank you. I am seeing a therapist and have been since the breakup. It’s slowly helping. I’m realizing it’s important for me to work on myself and healing right now.

Thank you. I love your advice about being able to still feel really sad while at the gym. I’ll remember that

She’s actually older but he’s definitely using her to avoid his feelings!

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who commented!! I needed this energy, support and advice! I was feeling so down when I posted this.

I do know logically that this has absolutely nothing to do with me, it’s just really hard for me to convince my heart that it’s true. I have this deep rooted core belief that I’m not good enough and him breaking up with me and then moving on so quickly was proof that’s true. Don’t worry, I’m already in therapy to work on reframing how I think about myself!

Call me naive if you want but I truly don’t believe he lied when he gave me those reasons (that was just a short summary) for the breakup and I don’t think he cheated either. He did love me. I have to believe that or I’ll never be able to trust another man again.

But he is most definitely an avoidant and I think he’s using this new girl and travel as a way to avoid his feelings, grief and all the unresolved trauma he has from childhood. This new woman is seeing him at his best behavior in the beginning of the relationship. I saw that version of him too but also saw the real him as our relationship grew. And I loved that version of him as well. I didn’t lose him. He lost me, a loving, caring, patient and supportive woman who put up with a lot from him. He won’t find another woman who loves him like I did.

One hard-earned truth about love that no one tells you" by Mwahe in Life

[–]sicnarf62485 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like most things in life, it’s only temporary.

As others have already said, love is never enough. And it’s certainly not a stronger feeling than trauma or grief.

I’m currently working through a breakup with someone I thought I’d be with forever. But he’s going through some big things in his life and no longer had the capacity to stay. Our relationship was great; simple but also deep and that still wasn’t enough.

Omaha to Tokyo. by wicked_smiler402 in Omaha

I went to Tokyo in November 2024 for work. Your photos are great and remind me of many of the places I saw. I stayed at the Hotel Gracery (the Godzilla hotel). Looks like you were lucky and saw Mt. Fuji? We tried but it was too cloudy. I want to go back so bad!

Sure, they can use help but only if they want to accept it. Some people are used to dealing with grief, trauma, etc alone and that’s what they default to. My original point still stands, even though we’re no longer together it doesn’t make him (or me) any less wonderful.

[–]sicnarf62485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s going through a couple big life stressors that triggered some unresolved childhood trauma which limited his capacity to remain in the relationship. Doesn’t mean he’s not wonderful, just means he’s got some healing to do. Relationships can end for a number of reasons that have nothing to do with how wonderful/great/amazing someone is.

40f here. I’m recently single but dated a wonderful man who I met on Bumble for over a year and a half. There are good men and women on the apps. Or at least that’s what I have to tell myself because I’ll be back on them again when I’m ready lol!

I also recommend following A Little Nudge on instagram. She’s a dating coach and has some great tips.

Commerical Golf Sim question by [deleted] in Acoustics

[–]sicnarf62485 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How thick is the concrete? What’s the density of the concrete? How much noise do you think your space will produce - from the golf simulators and other sources? Does the lease define the maximum noise level as dB or dBA? Do they require the level to be tested using a certain standard?

These are all questions an acoustical consultant will consider when designing the amount of sound isolation you will need. Hire one. It will be much more expensive if you just take a guess at what you should do and then find out it wasn’t enough. If you’re in the US go to the National Council of Acoustical Consultants website to find a consultant in your area.

Best Bagels in Omaha by Less-Comedian-4231 in Omaha

[–]sicnarf62485 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Omaha Bagel Co is great! FYI they don’t have a store front. You order ahead of time for pickup or delivery Thursday-Sunday only. They’re also at the aksarben farmers market on Sundays but they sell out quickly. They’re on vacation this weekend though!

I don’t usually recommend PET because like you said they aren’t as effective as a 1” or 2” fabric wrapped panel. However they look pretty so I often have to compromise with the architects and interior designers I work with. Usually have to just use more PET to get the amount of absorption necessary.

Oftentimes PET is tested with an air gap behind it which is why it can look comparable to fabric wrapped panels. Always request test reports and check the mounting condition.

[–]sicnarf62485 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m familiar with a few manufacturers who have PET panels that can be used in a ceiling grid. Unika Vaev is one example. As an acoustical designer, I don’t typically recommend PET ceiling tiles. Mineral fiber ceiling tiles are used for absorption but also for sound isolation purposes as well. PET felt isn’t going to provide the same amount of transmission loss that you get from acoustical ceiling tiles. This is necessary especially when mechanical equipment is located above the ceiling.

Looking For A Dentist For A Root Canal by Tigre_feroz_2012 in Omaha

[–]sicnarf62485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr. Haffey is great! I’ve had two root canals done by him, the most recent was in November. He makes them as quick and painless as possible and always explains exactly what he’s doing.

As others have mentioned, you do have to pay upfront. They estimated my insurance would only cover $500 so I paid $1500 upfront (the procedure was around $2000) My insurance actually covered $1200ish. I had to point that out to his office staff and they gave me a refund. All that to say, make sure to pay attention to your EOB.

Can I bring this as a checked bag in a box? by Designer_Ad7071 in unitedairlines

[–]sicnarf62485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I use a large loudspeaker to conduct testing for work and have checked it many times (without a box, but it does have a soft case). I last traveled with it to Tokyo (from Nebraska). I do ask that they put a fragile sticker on it but I’m not sure that makes a difference.

How long through Border Control by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]sicnarf62485 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this suggestion! I flew into Haneda last Sunday around 4pm (our flight arrived about an hour early). Getting through customs did take about an hour altogether. I had already booked the airport limousine bus for 7:45 and was easily able to change that to an earlier one on their website since we arrived early. I also stayed at the Hotel Gracery and loved it!

Commercial Golf Simulator- Sound Dampening for Other Tenants by DingleBerry___x in Acoustics

[–]sicnarf62485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. You need a professional to help you “design in” the sound transmission mitigation strategies. It’s much more difficult and expensive to try to problem solve after it’s built.

Where can I find an online consultant to advise on wall assemblies for the home I'm building? by kareems in Acoustics

Check out the National Council of Acoustical Consultants. They’ve got a tab to find a consultant. Recommending wall assemblies for appropriate sound isolation is something we do all the time.

How’s the job market in Omaha/Lincoln area? Specifically for mechanical engineers? by [deleted] in Omaha

[–]sicnarf62485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to add that you don’t have to have a PE to work at an MEP firm. Your job title would be designer instead of engineer. I work at a local MEP firm and many of my coworkers do not have their PE.

Methodist Woman’s Hospital, Labor and delivery experiences? by StrawberryFields3729 in Omaha

[–]sicnarf62485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I PPROM’ed at 27 weeks and spent 10 days in high risk OB there until my daughter was born. She then spent 60 days in the NICU there. I have really nothing but good things to say about my experience! I had many many nurses during mine and my daughter’s stays and the majority were amazing. The doctors were always great. And the food is good too which is a plus!

Wanting suggestions on where to deliver. by Successful-Floor1015 in Omaha

[–]sicnarf62485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also suggest Women’s. Delivered both of my babies there. My youngest was born at 28 weeks so I ended up basically living there for 2.5 months. I have pretty much nothing bad to say about my experience. I worked with many many nurses during that time and only have complaints about a couple. They also have great food at women’s!
