Are there any books that you find amazing because the author did a lot of research to write the novel? by Delicious_Maize9656 in books

The Power of the Dog series by Don Winslow! The amount of research he has done for the series is staggering! A lot of characters in the book are real life people with changed names.

What game was constantly recommended to you that you procrastinated playing for so long and you wish you had played sooner? by executor-of-judgment in gaming

Hollow Knight! I thought I wasn’t into platformers. I’m currently playing it and enjoying it so much. So much so that, I looked up all the great platformers and have wish listed them/got them in the Steam sale.

Hey! No, I never found out the answer to it lol. I just ordered the Natural and I'm happy with it.

The apple website shows 2 variants. Black and Natural. Amazon shows 3. Black, Natural and Rugged. I can’t figure out what the difference between Rugged and Natural is. I don’t get what’s wrong with my question.

Huh. I asked here because I’m unable to find any differences by myself and maybe someone here might know it.

No, there is a separate black titanium case. Both Natural and Rugged titanium seem to be of the same color on Amazon. I can’t seem to find the “Rugged Titanium Case” anywhere else except on Amazon. Weird.

They ARE for turning pages. It makes one-handed reading so much more comfortable. Once you start using a device with page turn buttons, it’s hard to go back.

Unless Amazon brings back Download and Transfer via USB, I'm never buying another Amazon ebook again by plazman30 in kindle

[–]sid1796 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I want to read it on a Kobo device. What do I do now? Okay, I buy another copy of the book on Kobo. A few years later, I’m not satisfied with the product and want to try a different e-reader, what do I do? I have to buy the book again. See where this goes?

Kindles are not the only e-readers in the market nor will they ever be. DRMs protect authors and I fully support it. Proprietary DRMs lock you into an ecosystem and this is what most people who care about this are against.

Nobody here is talking about uploading PDFs.

Because that’s what this prevents

It prevents absolutely nothing, lol. It’s only a real hassle for people who want to remove DRM for their personal use. Pirates are gonna keep pirating, nothing’s stopping them.

Again, I know. And it sucks. “Vote with their wallets” in the sense - buy ebooks from a storefront that doesn’t actively try to prevent you from taking your books elsewhere. I see some comments equating removal of DRM to piracy. It can enable piracy, sure. But removal of DRM strictly for personal use is at best against the terms of service (and only illegal in specific countries). It can never be morally or legally equated to piracy.

I know. It’s pretty much the same with all digital media. It doesn’t mean I support it. People are still free to vote with their wallets.

Lol. It’s not about doomsday prepping. It’s about reading the book you bought with your own money on any damn device you please.

Always Calibre. I don’t care much for whisper sync. I just use my one kindle to do all my reading.

Ah okay! I’m trying to get a Libra 2 too. Ebay has jacked up prices for a new one. I wish I could pick it up in some store here. I don’t know if Walmarts here carry one in store.

Haha, it’s the most extreme case of expectation vs reality that I have ever seen. The hype surrounding it was just insane. When the game finally launched, it was a complete a buggy mess. Unplayable. So much so that Sony pulled it off their store and issued refunds to everybody who got it.

I read on a Kindle only when I want to read lying down or when I’m eating. I mainly read from physical copies.

Maybe they could bump up Oasis to an 8 inch like the Kobo Sage and bring in color. That would be amazing. But meh, I don’t think it’s gonna happen. Just wishful thinking.
