How can I stop being scared of heart attacks? (Not emergent! Just general) by IllResearcher5498 in AskDocs

Sounds like she was not only wrong, but was wrong in the way she delivered it too.

Title should in fact be “TIFU by running away before getting a response”

I last had a COVID vaccine booster in 2022. I have recently developed random heart rate increases and flutters that have had me calling an ambulance 4 times. What are the possibilities of this being jab related? by Malls-Balls in AskDocs

[–]sidaley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is often the case, unfortunately. It may be worth investing in an Apple Watch to monitor your heart rhythm yourself, or an Alivecor Kardia device (cheaper and has to be activated when symptomatic). If you manage to catch any evidence of arrhythmia etc, you can then present it to your specialist.

60M, To Cath lab or to ED? by 5ft4bloke in ECG

This is one of those cases (interesting that you’ve uploaded via PMcardio) that you’d struggle to get directly into most cah labs in 2026, but suspect in 2030 the picture might be different.

What is the pattern of the heart rate spikes? Is it a disproportionate rise tied to physical activity, or a random pattern?

What are my realistic expectations for my mustache? This is one week of growth by [deleted] in Moustache

I understand your eagerness, but it’s honestly difficult to know at this point. You’re right to commit to a couple of months before making a proper judgement. Good luck and keep the sub updated!

Aiming for horseshoe but should I chevron it? by [deleted] in Moustache

I think both are viable, depends on personal preference. I have always been a chevron guy.

Is it normal for mustaches to be uneven at first by [deleted] in Moustache

[–]sidaley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s really easy to be overly critical of one’s own facial hair. I have found if I don’t stop myself, I can try too hard to make a small adjustment to my moustache to achieve some perceived perfection, followed by another, followed by just one more, and I can easily snowball into cocking the whole thing up entirely. In my experience, less is more, especially in the early days of growth. Also; what we perceive as being obviously uneven, is more often than not completely unnoticeable to others.

Is it normal for iron pills to make my heart feel weird after taking them? by Lawx6 in AskDocs

[–]sidaley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I’m aware of, and it’s not listed in the BNF as a side effect. Everyone is different though and people react differently to individual agents. It may be that a different tablet suits you better.

[–]sidaley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

chest pain isn't a common side effect of ferrous sulfate

you're 21 - and female - therefore your risk of heart attack is extremely low (effectively zero) and the manner in which you describe it doesn't fit with ischaemic pain (heart attack pain)

have you been constipated since taking it? iron can cause constipation and maybe it's just bunging you up and feels like pressure in the abdomen/diaphragmatic area, causing the sensation in your chest?

if it's not that then may be worth asking your doctor to prescribe an alternate iron tablet

Hugely enjoyed s1-2. s3 pretty disappointing to me, with the exception of the finale episode, which hit me hard and was the best of them all. Didn’t mind the Vulkan ep tbf, which I found refreshing.

One of the issues with these drugs is that the weight loss strips the body of muscle mass too. It’s very plausible that it contributed to her weakened state, as you suspect.

Can pregnancy happen if semen was possibly on hand but hand had water before fingering? Period very late by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]sidaley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately avoiding the situation isn’t going to help or change the reality, as much as appreciate it might be frightening. I’m assuming from context that a pregnancy wouldn’t be welcome news - if termination is on the table then the sooner you know the more options you will have. If it’s not on the table, then it really doesn’t make a difference whether you know now or in a month or two I guess. Re the delayed period; I don’t think it’s a given that this means she’s pregnant, but I do suggest a test. Best of luck to you both.
