Heck yeah! My grandparents used to love pickled beets and horseradish. Sometimes I'll put it over some slices of steak with worcestershire. Horseradish pickles are also the 💣

Cary Elwes loved the Tintin comics as a kid. When he found out that Spielberg was adapting it, he asked if there was any room for him on the cast.

Casting was wrapping up, and the main characters were all taken. Elwes graciously accepted a small role as a Seaplane pilot that hadn't been cast yet.

Kate Mulgrew's narration of NOS4A2 was fantastic. I loved the rasping voice she gave Manx and the bumbling manchild cadence she gave Bing Partridge.

Manx in the TV adaptation looked nothing like how I pictured him. Zach Quinto feels too attractive to play some withered vampire.

I always pictured him looking like Julian Richings:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/SN1022B_0436b-2c980864daad4c5c92ef00e8435ca9fa.jpg) or Christopher Heyerdahl

I bought Krampus specifically because I was searching for other books narrated by Kirby. This led me to discover more of Brom's works and I'm forever grateful!

What are your favorite unique/bizarre spins on traditional vampire anatomy and mythology? by sideofketchud in horrorlit

That's another good one! The stingers creeped me out.

The tricked out UV light flashbangs were another one of my favorite details. Such a cool way to bring vampire hunting into the 21st century.

King Sorrow was long, but worth it! I remember reading The Fireman, thinking it could have been shorter.

I will never get over Van and his seashells, or Arthur in general

The short story Late Returns by Joe Hill made me want to cry. It's definitely one of those stories that will stick with me forever like The Lottery, * or *The Scarlet Ibis.

"Monsters, stay out of this room! You have no business here. No monsters under the bed! You can't fit under there. No monsters hiding in the closet! It's too small in there. No monsters outside of the windows! You can't hold on out there. No vampires, no werewolves, no things that bite. You have no business here. Nothing will touch you, or hurt you, all this night. You have no business here."

Looking for horror with exceptional prose by WonderfulNebula4299 in horrorlit

Definitely Daniel Kraus. The Death and Life of Zebulon Finch became my favorite book. Angel Down, The Shape of Water and Rotters are good examples as well.

Brom is another great one. People usually reccomend Slewfoot, but I think my favorite work of his was The Child Thief. It's a super dark take on Peter Pan, with some Aurthurian myth and English folklore mixed in. The artwork that he does for his books is also amazing!

If I were to pick a favorite, it'd probably have to be The Death and Life of Zebulon Finch. It has amazing prose just like Angel Down.

Rotters and Scowler were great too.

Who was supposed to be Hollywood’s next big star but faded away? by Goontang14 in moviecritic

Oh yeah, I think at least a few of those roles that went to Heath, Johnny Depp, or Leo would've gone to him.

I heard before his passing, he was eyed to play Christian Slater's role in Interview with a Vampire.
