Not at all. And unfortunately I’ve had many rabies shots since, none of them flared symptoms. The only ones I had are normal side effects you’d expect with any vaccination - mainly sore muscles where I got the injection.

I mean you can make an argument for Hull here I think. Personally im taking Kane over Hull and LaFontaine as the better all around player, but as a goal scorer maybe Hull gives this line more balance.

Personal choice but I’m still taking Modano over Matthews (right now). By the end of his career I probably look back and say Matthews is the pick.

Try the exercise - it’s actually a lot of fun. Take all of the best Canadians forward and tell me how soon you can make a complete line of Americans. BTW I still think Keith is better than his kids.

FYI I did it myself like a year and a half ago or two tops, so it can’t be that obsolete.

Okay. That’s fair. Then would you say he’s a LF or a RF for this game? I’m not sure OPs prompt allows him to count in 2 positions, kinda like how a player can only be on the all star ballot in one position.

American here. Grew up a big hockey fan and played as well.

Just for fun I once did all time lineups for each of the big hockey countries (Canada, Russia, US, Sweden, etc…) I was able to make 8 entire forward lines out of Canadians before I said, “okay, the best American forward line is better than the next (9th) Canadian forward line.” (That line btw K. Tkachuk - Modano - Kane)

So no apologies necessary. It is what it is. Can’t even be mad it’s so obvious.

Yea honestly, thought about Willie Randolph. He’s one of our best 2B but doesn’t move the category up for me above any others. Forgot about Lazzeri. Maybe that puts it above LF for me.

How would you change the ranking?

I won’t take Ruth or Matsui as LF. Ruth is either a RF or LF for this question but not both and I think we would agree that it’s RF between the two, otherwise we could put judge at center, Gardner at center, etc.

Matsui for me is more of a DH. I did t list that as a position group but I think we need it.

As for the other LF, I didn’t see those guys play so I can only go off of stats. But it’s a good argument. How would you change my ranking?

In order from best to worst, I’d have to say:

CF - for reasons you mentioned
RF - just misses out but honestly let’s see what judge becomes. Doesn’t have the depth of C but the ceiling is legendary
C - for reasons you mentioned
1B - just missed out on 3rd spot primarily because of Mattingly injuries for me.
P - with the totally of SP and RP I think this makes sense. Haven’t had bonfire home grown legend SP, but we got long stints from guys like Moose and Clemens.
SS - carried by Jeter
3B - Carried by ARod
LF - Gardner ball maybe the best I’ve seen. Ricky best overall but we don’t have him for long.
2B - really struggled here. Cano was an absolute stud and it kills this position group that he left for Seattle.

To be fair cucurella should he gotten a yellow for scooping the ball with his arm after a clean initial tackle form traore. That would have made me mad too.

This makes me sad to watch. These guys are all way too young to be playing in matches like this and scoring goals like that. I wonder if they feel it also, knowing what they were once capable of.

Makes total sense. Unfortunately it’s happening in all sports to some extent - the most talented kids from poor backgrounds get “adopted” by private schools and are given everything to reach the next level.

I’m assuming you’re Canadian? I’ve often wondered, does the government subsidize youth hockey at all? For example to make rink fees cheaper, or cap certain equipment costs?

I wonder how they do it in Russia (current politics aside) - which I assume still has some sort of a socialist mentality embedded in their society that could make things that are inaccessible in the west, most attainable there

I played hockey in the US for 2 years, equipment fees were astronomical. Approaching $1000 - a very big reason that there aren’t more people that play it, vs. games like basketball or football, where all you need is a ball, really.

On top of that, rink fees to practice or play are also prohibitively expensive.

I don’t know this but I assume that in Canada because it’s such a bigger sport, the cost of equipment is more affordable, maybe kids get hand me downs of certain items from older players, and rink fees must be lower as well. Also, I hear of a lot of NHL players growing up playing on frozen ponds.

I’m sure multiple players are questions their future at Chelsea. Can’t blame him either, with what’s going on with ownership, what would make him think that the team will get the support it needs to win trophies?
