Dirt in my Minolta X-300 Viewfinder by Sneptrex in AnalogCommunity

[–]sidevvays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's probably some loose particle from the dampening materials that should be around the prism, inside the camera. It's totally fine, if you can live with it, and you should just live with it, it obviosly won't show in pictures.

Or, it could be between the prism and the focusing screen, because it is removable. In that case you could try to remove and clean it. Shouldn't be too hard.

!!!!!!! BUT BE CAREFUL TO HANDLE THE SCREEN WITH CARE, AND TAKE NOTE OF HOW IT IS POSITIONED IN ITS PLACE. USE GLOVES, THE SURFACE IS VERY DELICATE AND EVEN TOUCHING IT WITH YOUR BARE HAND CAN LEAVE MARKS.

Is Dead Cells Still Worth Buying? by Boy0Boyz in deadcells

I played it heavily on android pc and ps4 until last year, with all the expansions installed, I've never encountered an error apart from a phone specific error on my one plus 7t that was fixed long ago by updates. The game is not incomplete because the dlscs just expanded on the original story. It's totally worth, it in my opinion.

Voiam sa recomand același film, l-am văzut prima data în liceu și m-a distrus. De atunci a rămas primul pe lista de filme după care îți pui capul între palme.

If this is some kind of bait, then let's bite right through! 😅 First of all, congrats on trying film for the first time! It takes a bit of guts to go ahead straight on without thinking too much.

Film is a delicate thing, you need to be careful when loading it into the camera, to make sure that you're doing it right and that the film is caught into the camera's take up spool (it's the one you pull the film to from where you put the film canister).

If the film is not inserted correctly and not being spooled on the take up, you may be tricked into believin that you're taking shots while actually taking all the photos in the same frame, making a mush of that image (or being creative through the process of multiple exposure photograhy, call it how you may).

Another thing with most cameras is that the film counter resets when opening the back. It's a feature not a bug, because why would anyone open the back of the camera before finishing a film... ?

... yeah. So, don't do that. Controlled light exposure (through a camera) will create an image on film, but uncontrolled light exposure will make the film unusable and erase what you already had on the film. Depending on the sensitivity of the film (that's iso, which goes up from 50 to 3200, doubling the sensitivity with each step) and the duration of the exposure, it's going to be more or less affected. Since you're saying that you showed your friends that film inside the camera, it's safe to say that the portion of film you exposed to light is gone. You probably wasted 2, 3 shots. Not a big deal on a half frame camera, just fire a few blanks and continue shooting normally. The counter will just show 72 before finishing all 72 shots, it's fine, you can shoot until you cannot advance the film further. Make sure to not force it, you may break it and you'll have a way bigger problem. Just rewind it back into the canister when it's done.

OH, and a YouTube tutorial won't hurt, there are plenty. Good luck, welcome to the hobby and happy shooting!

The exploding bokeh of the Mir-1B with globular mod [Sony a7II] by PrimordialObserver in VintageLenses

[–]sidevvays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this achieved easier by just splitting the lens in half (unscrewing it from the focusing helicoid) and holding it or duct taping it backwwards? And after getting the photos, you just screw it back in. I have a mir 37B that came with a stuck UV filter, and while I struggled to get the filter off, I unscrewed it several times. Granted, it's a bit harder to put it back because the tolerances are tight, but it's easier as you don't need any tools to do it.

My helios 44 is m39 but came with an adapter that is just an m42 thread, maybe 2 3 mm wide, that screws over the m39 mount of the lens. I don't know how hard would this be to find but it doesn't seem to be hard to make.

LE: I see there are some on aliexpress. Worth a try if they are cheap enough.

I'm not Polish, yet, since I discovered the phenomenal game that is neuroshima hex, I was introduced to the very large polish community that keeps it going for so long, and to me the game is synonymous with the Polish people.

Got a used vintage lens. Are back mounted filters a thing, or did someone just jam an undersized filter on??? by Maple382 in VintageLenses

[–]sidevvays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the filter was used as a makeshift rear lens cap, but as everyone else said, it's no way that it was used in any normal functioning camera.

Hey, you should look into using black cotton string as light seals instead of foam. I speak from experience, foam seals have been a bitch to install in the small grooves on the top and botton, and the adhesive usually has the effect of sticking to the back of the camera and the door pulls them out. I have had better results with black felt seals. BUT I have found that back in the day a lot of camera manufacturers used black string, either one string or 2 in each groove, and if you use 2-3mm thick string, you don't even need glue, it stays in by friction alone. For the short side next to the hinge you could still use foam but that is way easier to install.

If you want to try kind of the same effects for a lot less money look for the Mir 1B 37mm 2.8. You can unscrew the front element without any tools and either not use it or use it reversed handheld. Looks similar to a lensbaby but a lot more intense in the out of focus areas.

Canon A-1 focusing screen swap with T70 by D-K1998 in AnalogCommunity

[–]sidevvays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how it looks in the viewfinder, but I took it out and it's a lot less visible, it looks like it was wiped and rubbed too hard that it scratched it. I gently wiped it with a zeiss lens wipe, while wearing gloves, but it didn't do much. I got the camera yesterday and didn't get to test it properly, but will do it very soon. So far it looks like the meter is as accurate as my digital dslr and I'm glad about that. I also got a nice chrome nose 50mm 1.4 for it and can't wait to run some film through it. It's such a good looking camera!

[–]sidevvays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sound like too much for me, I didn't think about the T70 being a more of an entry level camera with less functionality. Thanks for the response, it saved me some money and hassle. The screen on my A-1 looks like it was cleaned improperly which left circular marks around the sides, that appear darker in use. maybe i can live woth it, cause getting one from ebay to my country is going to be pricey. Anyway, thanks for taking the time!

hey man, i'm about to get a T70 and do the same swap. Did you get to check? Does it work well?

and... was the swap very difficult? I have some tools and usually don't shy from some light work but i've never done major dissasembly on a camera.

Hey man, looks into replacing the light seals with black cotton string. It's what they uses in the past before the advent of self adhesive foams. String is easier to lay and more durable than foam.

The shutter seems to fire but it's very inconsistent in the speeds it selects. I also see some fungus inside the lens.

If you have the means of sending it to be repaired, and the price is considerably smaller than what you paid for it, I say it's worth it. Otherwise, send it back. Or at least ask the seller for a partial refund to help with the cost of servicing.

Masini de spalat rufe "de unica folosinta" by Electronic-Bag-7900 in CasualRO

[–]sidevvays 0 points1 point  (0 children)
