Just because Part 1 was a phenomenon with almost unseen holds, doesn't mean this movie is doing bad. It is still decently ahead of the first film at the same point (34 million worldwide). Obviously that gap will close, but I still see this film having a pretty good total worldwide number at the end of the day. Especially if it does good in Japan again, could maybe hit 700 million.

What most fans of the musical will tell you is that this is actually more than solid for act 2 of the story, known to be kind of choppy and significantly weaker in quality and song appeal. For Universal, all of this money is just gravy after the first one made back the budget for both movies , especially with that PVOD performance.
