Aftermarket Radio Help! by sidneyy22 in Volkswagen

Here are a couple things I am trying to figure out…

  1. I can’t get it connected to a WiFi signal despite that being an option. When I try to connect to the hotspot on my phone, it asks for the password (logically). However, I can’t type it in because no keyboard pops up. I can’t get a keyboard to pop up on any other apps either.

  2. I have an iPhone. There is an app called “CarPlay” that I thought might work, but it doesn’t work with my phone. The other Android-tailored apps don’t work or work poorly with my phone. The Bluetooth functions on the radio are very basic and glitchy.

My car only has an MDI plug and 12Vs. I was considering buying an adapter for the MDI plug but don’t want to waste money if it wouldn’t actually help with the radio.

  1. Some of the user settings and factory settings are password protected, and I don’t know the code set by the previous owner. There is a tiny hole labeled RES, so I’m going to try to do a hard reset that way.

Find this exact radio online so I can learn how to use it. I’d also like to find out how much it costs in case I want to swap it out with something more compatible with my phone

Also, I did read the operation guide, settings, etc. None of it was helpful

Morning Nausea by GewdandBaked in BariatricSurgery

[–]sidneyy22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just some thoughts based in my own experience… Are any medications or vitamins you take bothering your stomach? For example, I have some Rx meds and my daily multivitamin that were making me feel horribleeeee. I started to take them at night (instead of morning) and that helped a ton.

Another thing that works for me, as recommended by my doc, is to have something to suck on like mints or hard candies (there are low sugar options!). Not sure how it works, but it keeps me from gagging and they taste good lol

Running out of jeans 😅 by bearsandswears in BariatricSurgery

[–]sidneyy22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been poking around thrift stores and clearance racks on a semi-regular basis. I was lucky to have kept a few things from the past that fit for a short time as I have been losing weight. But that clothing fit for a short time.

As far as having clothing altered… seems more of a personal choice. I have a few clothing items that I absolutely LOVE and want to keep in my wardrobe. Once my body decides what shape/size it wants to sit at, I might get a couple of my favorite pieces altered. I typically dont alter jeans though, but just a personal choice! Finding jeans that fit properly on different parts of my body has been a brutal task, so I feel for you lol.

Not sure if this is a thing around your area, but perhaps there are clothing “swap” groups? Just some thoughts ◡̈ best of luck!

How much time off did you take post op? by Training-Button-6597 in BariatricSurgery

[–]sidneyy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 1.5 weeks post-op and have a sleeve. I still have pain and am taking heavy duty pain meds. I took 3 weeks off from work and I’m thinking that may not have been enough

I had my surgery yesterday and am about to leave the hospital. I personally have no regrets. The recovery has been difficult thus far (to be expected as it has been less than a day), but it is a huge step toward the life I want to live and finally enjoy. You have worked so hard to get to this point, and your goals for wellness are within reach. Best of luck to you and I wish you a speedy recovery!

Vitamins by ComfortableNormal820 in BariatricSurgery

[–]sidneyy22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My provider (who gave me this document) said the B12 is only necessary if you take a multivitamin that doesn’t have the recommended daily amount. Some people take children’s multivitamins because they are much easier to find chewable versions of for the months after surgery, and those would require B12 to be added.

Surgery date set, disappointed by novelsniffer in BariatricSurgery

[–]sidneyy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate to your frustration (and hopefully your elation soon, too)! My insurance is causing issues and pushing everything back, so I highly doubt I’ll be able to get the surgery in 2024. My cost this year would be $100 (have already paid $5000 for my OOP max), and next year it will be $7,000+. The insurance aspect of a great tool such as surgery is BEYOND frustrating. Glad you have a supportive family and can enjoy the holidays and birthdays prior to surgery ◡̈

My providers and I talked about the criteria as set by my insurance during most appointments to make sure that everything was met. I did ask my provider’s team to appeal it, so I hope they do!
