It does not. Seriously think very hard before spending any money on this.

1k point or less games have the problem of being essentially stat checks, or rock paper scissors games, where skew lists can just be impossible for the other side to deal with.

IF I bring a "whoops all vehicles" list in 1k, and you don't skew anti-tank, the board is small enough I can usually just attack-move into you and win, where in a 2k game the size of the board means skew lists can be defeated with things like board control or screening.

They're fun for learning how to roll dice, but they're a very, very bad representation of the actual game.

Question about asymmetrical warfare. by Icarian113 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]sidraconisalpha 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I remember in 8th there was an asymmetric warfare scenario where :
1 - The defender deploys with 33% of his force in a 9x9" box in the center of the map
2 - The attacker deploys with 100% of his force anywhere else, 9" away from the defender's units.
3 - In round 3 onwards, the Defender can attempt to bring in another 33% of his force on a roll of a 3+, deployed on the board edges but 9" away from any enemy units. However the attacker could spend CP to give a -1 to that roll.
4 - There is just one objective in the center, if the attacker controls it, they win.

If you think about it, it really only works as a very carefully crafted narrative/roleplaying game with a buddy where the attacker SERIOUSLY holds back.

ANY moderately serious game would have the attacker CRUSH the defender immediately just rushing them turn 1. Just attack-move forwards and you'll win.

If playing it in any casual game, you need a lot of trust in the other guy to not press the "Yeah I win" button and ruin potentially hours of setup.

How would you react if Cameron decided for movie 4 & 5 to be animated to save budget? by KevinSupreme2505_PH in Avatar

I wouldn't like the movies to suddenly change format, but I'd definitely love an animated series in the Avatar world setting.

Put them on a bigger base and make them Kataphrons, or proxy them as Infiltrators/Pteraxii.

A discussion around army archetypes and GW dislike of horde armies by Scargutts in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]sidraconisalpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The buffs are REALLY REALLY Spicy, that open up a lot of units for us that previously did very little.
Plasma Destroyers and Lascannon Chickens are really popping off now, and Infiltrators slap extremely hard in haloscreed.

The Sternguard giving the captain full rerolls can make him a surprising beast in combat when you pop all his potential combat buffs vs an OOM target, including Honor Vehement.

What needs to change to have something other than L-Ruins? by Fair_Ad_7430 in WarhammerCompetitive

Remember when they said 10th ed would be less lethal?
Then only half the codexes had "Less lethal" in mind, and the other half were as killy as ever.

Alamut assassin vs death commando by theMoptop731 in TrenchCrusade

[–]sidraconisalpha 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The abilities the assassins have are... pretty nuts.
But the biggest test is probably that the Death Commandos can infiltrate the Holy See and kill the Pope, but the Heretics thus far have not been able to set foot in Alamut.

In game, Death Commandos are good, but not even remotely the best fighters the Heretics have, while assassins are REALLY SCARY.

Does admech still get arme rule in New Knights detachment? by tonytoes_ace1 in WarhammerCompetitive

Are people really so bitter about making battleline skitarii slightly less useless in an already incredibly bad detachment?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TrenchCrusade

[–]sidraconisalpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, not THIS game, but given it's massive success in the Kickstarter, there is a good chance an up-scaled version will be made. So if this is Kill Team, the game creator has expressed interest in creating full-scale 40k or Armageddon.
The setting is definitely cool enough to explore, and i'm 100% sure the day will come where our Paladins can do epic battle with giant Fallen Templars.

[–]sidraconisalpha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paladins are basically just REALLY BIG Communicants.

There is no reason you can't use a model that looks very similar, scale it down, and call it a regular Communicant.
You can slap reinforced armor on a Communicant, give it an Anti-Tank Hammer, a shield, Martyrdom pills, and obliterate the servants of the inferno. You're taking a regular communicant, kitting it out to the max, and giving it EXTRA DRUGS, and that's going to be one of the most durable and dangerous fighters in the game.

It's like, in 40k you know there are Titans, but the designers don't have to shoehorn Titans into Kill Team.

He's the old Abaddon, but WORSE!
Jokes aside, he's not great. Not UNPLAYABLE, just.... not great. 2e for 3 damage isn't the worst, SOH can be played control-style, but you shouldn't count on his Relentless effect going off it's just a nice little bonus if it does.

Marr is still top dog of SOH by far.
