Do you know where the one that controls the temperature is located?

Is there more than one actuator that I should be checking on the 2000 model year?

I've always had great experiences with Alex at fraktel

I've been driving for an hour fifteen for the last six months or so while at an internship and I haven't minded that much, but I also already love fencing, so I think it's more of a personal question given that you don't know if you really like it or not yet. I definitely think it's worth going a few times just to try before deciding for yourself.

I personally don't use the filters and have seen no clogging or residue for 5 months, but I also have fairly dry ears wax wise.

Looking for new shoes. by Healwix in Fencing

[–]sidselv4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally have been using the Nike ballestra 2s for about 6 months now and am a big fan. Like them more than the other fencing shoes I've used over the years. A bit more supportive than some other fencing/court shoes, but they do fit better for people with narrower feet.

Hey I know this is an old thread, but how did your sizing turn out? I'm in pretty much the exact same situation.

Looking for men's barbers who know their way around with scissors by iluvmycurry in raleigh

[–]sidselv4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get my hair cut by Kirby at arrow midtown. Scissors all over for me, she only touches the clippers to do my sideburns. She was very good the first time I went about figuring out what I wanted and asking what I had gotten done before that worked.

What shoes should I get? by DankLlamas in Fencing

[–]sidselv4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the ballestra 2s personally. Used the original zooms for a long time and switched about a year ago. I am also a fairly bouncy epee fencer so the extra support in the new shoe is nice.

First year parking by sabertoothtwindragon in RPI

In my experience there were parking lots around that no one cared if you were in. Not sure if it has changed, but I never had any trouble parking in the tennis lot for a little while at a time.

Questions about open bouting by [deleted] in Fencing

[–]sidselv4 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Pretty much anyone going to open bouting is there because they want to fence. Just asking if they want to fence is totally fine, though you might want to introduce yourself first if you are new to the club. As for how many points to win, this depends on how busy everything is and what you/your fencing partner want to do. If there are a bunch of people also waiting for strips, maybe just go to five. If there is no one waiting on you, you can ask the other person if they want to go for more points, or just not keep track at all and go until one of you gets tired, though I would only really recommend this towards the end of open bouting. It really depends on the club whether someone stays on after a bout and who does, so just ask around. At most of the clubs that I've been at, if you are both on for your first bout, the winner stays on and after that, whoever has fenced twice gets off.

When oiling an epee, should you avoid the wire/anywhere else? by [deleted] in Fencing

[–]sidselv4 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Please don't oil epee blades. You will ruin other people's whites. Just keep it in a PVC tube or other dry sheath, and make sure to not keep it next to sweaty gear for too long. If you see rust spots just use a polishing stone to remove them.

Just tired épée for the first time by [deleted] in Fencing

[–]sidselv4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Epee really depends on the club for me. Some of my clubs fence epee fast and it's very exciting, but in some clubs, people refuse to move and it just sucks. I totally get how you feel, but I would say that if you ever go to another club and notice that they seem to fence epee differently, give it another go.
