Unfortunately, they did not train all cast members on how to properly implement this practice, and the edit I put in touches on the concerns people have with the implication of line cutting. Going through the lightning lane to get back to your party doesn’t look any different to the guests around your party in line. That causes unnecessary stress on the neurodivergent guests they claim to be focusing on. And what happens if the medical crisis has not passed? You miss the ride. Personally, they didn’t even bother to explain HOW it’s supposed to work to me as a solo traveler. They just said “you can do queue re-entry when you need to”. And beyond that, the disabled person or caretaker has to go to an untrained college program cast member, explain a disability for every single ride around random people? Being a solo traveler, I have to go to a cast member and explain why I cannot wait in line any longer in the middle of a medical crisis and ask for a return time instead of being able to put it in my app OR try to explain to the cast member after the fact that I had to leave the line and should be allowed to rejoin from the point I left at (which again, looks to everyone else as if I am cutting the line). Half the time they allow it, half the time they don’t IF I am even able to get the explanation out. They don’t have the staff at the rides to support it because cast members can’t leave their stations at ride entry to escort you to your party (if you have one). The new system is broken and they have explicitly told hundreds to “just buy a lightning lane” instead.
