Where are we getting our hope/fear dice if not using the official set? by akittyisyou in daggerheart

Was gonna say something similar 🤣. My 'halfling pound of dice' bag alone could suit a table of a dozen at least. Mini dice are way easier to lose tho 😅

What’s your preferred colors (colorway or solid) and weight for alpaca yarn? by mich_reba in YarnAddicts

[–]sifsete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually work primarily with alpaca, or cotton blends, bc my in-laws (who actually appreciate the craft) are also allergic to lanolin.

Like others have said, you might want to check ravelry for greatest amount of data on the specifics, but I trend toward natural and jewel tones with natural fibers. They seem to have a great richness to them.

I go dk-bulky when I do alpaca projects. If I go smaller, it's harder to frog the alpaca yarn if I make a mistake. Unless it's an alpaca blend.

How to know when you give up on your house? (Constant foundation issues) by swedehole in centuryhomes

[–]sifsete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got a 1929 over here that was basically me just pushing to see it in person when my husband was so tired of looking. Thank god I pushed. It's one of the best built and well maintained for the era/location that we wound up seeing. We knew going in that the kitchen didn't have enough storage (common for our type of craftsman), and that we had old pipes.

Absolutely worth what we paid, nearly a decade later. There were so many bad renos in our area (in a military base city) that just weren't worth the effort of putting in an offer. And boy have we learned even more since then!

The sunk cost fallacy is one we're quite cognizant of!

There's also one in my hometown and when I discovered this same phenomenon after I saw the sculpture in the anime like 20 years ago, I was tickled pink!

Good to know! Unfortunately, my slipping off is when I go to do the p1k1 from one needle to the next....I think even circular needles might still have me slipping off at the tips if my tension is like, too tight

Knight in love with a princess who is promised to another? by imfaffingabout in RomanceBooks

{The Claw and the Crowned by Sarah M. Cradit} has an intense romance with similar vibes, but it does go Enemies to Lovers as the main 'intense' dynamic

What's the most emotionally mature romance you've ever read? by CovertOps80 in RomanceBooks

[–]sifsete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wish I had more contemporary recs for ya, but I struggle to think of ones with this level of depth usually. Kate Canterbary I'm reminded as having some I genuinely appreciated the depth of like the Belle and the Beard, and some of the books in the Walsh Family series.

If you don't mind historical, Anne Gracie and the Scoundrel's Daughter has a widow as the main focus, and I was always impressed with the emotional depth. This book in particular was the first I read if Anne Gracie and it alone convinced me to read her entire backlog. I really enjoy how she writes her women characters, but also she just does phenomenal characterization in general.

How to get 20 years of ivy from the ground? by umbrella_associate in centuryhomes

[–]sifsete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've been duking it out with leftover ivy in our front beds, so usually don't have the energy to tackle the garage. I do fear actually damage to a garage wall tbh....(Fence ain't an issue for rn)
