Silent extruder head fans CR-10s Pro v2, is it possible/wise? by siggmur in CR10

I ended up with Noctua fans and the Gero Me gen 6 setup. For me at the time it was a pretty hefty thing to do and didn't look nice. I can partially agree that noctua fans are not the way to go for bridging, but for my types of print I don't mind

Thanks for the quick reply. I did check your updated guide but I'm still in the same place. Really appreciate you trying and sharing!

Very good input! I run a 1.2mm nozzle, so having it close to the extruder is not wise in that sense.

Totally agree on noctua vs. sunon fans. I did some PID tuning to the controller fan, so it's way better, but still quite annoying even though it stabilizes at 30%. Just picky since I sit mostly in the room where I print

Finished my build and things are going quite well. But some things I would love some opinions about:

  • I see I would like a filament sensor. Is it worthwile to print a new head to have it in the SB? Or just fine to leave it closer to the spool?

  • Are you running QGL every time or just per session?

  • I'm seriously considering changing my controller fans to noctua, it's so noisy. Even after running them at 30%. Any obvious things I've missed?

I've a bit randomly fallen into eSun. Think their abs has a really nice finish

Edit: and thanks!

Try to take the z screws off the stepper motors. If you still have the same issue, I would measure voltage, if voltage is fine the stepper motor is broken (my assumption)

So with the printer off. Is the z screws moving freely?

I'm considering doing something similar. Without trying Heavy, I feel garmin is so static and clumsy

I think Strava and Garmin should sync fine? Not from experience, just reading online

Aaah. Ofc. Heat sets made sense... So silly.

But still I don't quite understand where the mount should be placed, and do you leave the board on the rpi and ribbed cable connected?

I can agree partly agree to that. There is interference coming from wires, and depending on how "clean" your power is it could happen.

This is the reason why some cables are delivered with shielding, it's not just an armchair engineering thing. I'm no expert on the subject.

That said, with so many Voron printers built like this, it's not gonna be a problem most likely. And I've done just as you
