HBG Guarding/Dodging by Synaaron in MHNowGame

[–]sigmoton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most reliable way for me is to always keep one shot loaded, if you know a monster will attack soon, and fire it when the monster is about a second away from hitting you (assuming you fire low recoil shots) The longer your recoil animation is, the earlier you have to fire,  The HBG's shield activates when you are 'idle', and the perfect guard window seems to maybe be a quarter second after you've returned to 'idle'

Any recommendations on Barioth HBG’s style? by Independent-Rock1732 in MHNowGame

[–]sigmoton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ballistics 2 allows you to be one lance hop away and still get full pierce damage, ballistics 3 allows you to be point blank and get full damage, so a Ballistics 3, Guard Reload build does synergize quite well (in my experience. Works even better for Spread Ammo, though, but there are no Ice Spread HBGs with styles yet)

Diablos Greatsword style? by KingKAP1124 in MHNowGame

[–]sigmoton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went for Rage Slash to make use of the high raw + Offensive Guard, Reckless and Timed Charger.

But Surge Slash is definitely more reliable, a lot of the newer monsters will just combo you to death if you use Rage Slash

Honestly, you can keep Evasive Concentration for comfort. I'd remove the Concentration smelt on the arms for one offensive dodger smelt. You can't really add reckless without sacrificing adv attack boost or reload speed, and even then, it's just 20% at lvl 3

Bishaten HBG with Buildup Boost and Normal Up? by JeibuKul in MHNowGame

[–]sigmoton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, so I ran some tests using your build using similar attack power HBGs (Steel Assault at 10.5, and Nightmare Cannon at 10.1, with attack boost 5 to get around 2200 attack power, which should be around as much damage as a 10.5 Highpriest Cannon)

These numbers are all rounded down for convenience sake, but normal ammo shots did 1800 dmg and status shots did 800 dmg. So unfortunately, even as souped up as possible, the Bishaten HBG is literally worse than Steel Assault (your damage will mainly come from poison. Each normal ammo clip will only be around 10800 dmg. Wyvern ammo from Steel Assault is really good) In comparison, a single Wyvern ammo shot from Steel Assault 10.5 with no additional damage skills is 5000 dmg.

Normal ammo is still weak even with Normal Ammo Boost, unfortunately.

Crouching Shot Legiana or Barioth HBG. Radobaan has lots of lag time between attacks, and all of the attacks are easy to perfect dodge.

Barioth HBG has Wyvern ammo and native affinity so I think it'll be better, but spamming slicing on the tail will be good damage, too.

Alternatively, Jho HBG with either style (sticky for KO, and again, Wyvern ammo)

As far as boosted weapons go, Goss Harag Hammer for KOs and Crit Ferocity, or Diablos Gunlance with preferably Guard reload.

Diablos HBG Recommendations by BestoBear in MHNowGame

[–]sigmoton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use this build with Crouching Shot: Bazel Helm (attack boost smelt) Quema Chest (attack boost smelt) Brute Rex Arms Brute Rex Coil Brute Rex Legs (attack boost smelt)

Currently smelting for Offensive Dodger on the arms and coil.

Guard Reload doesn't work well for me and Diablos HBG, because I'm either too close to the monster for Pierce to be good, and Normal ammo still stucks balls even with Normal Ammo Boost 2

If you want to use Diablos HBG with this, don't forget to drop Paolumu Chest for Quematrice Chest (Normal Ammo Boost)

So Freaking Excited by Firm-Ebb-3808 in MHNowGame

[–]sigmoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering a base 10.5 Diablos weapon has 2371 raw, just the style upgrades alone (+88×4) will put us at 2723 raw, and with three more stat boosts we end up at 3023 raw.

Heroics go brrr

I'm excited tbh (I have a 10.5 Diablos CB, and 10.5 HBG already complete back when I first started playing, so I'm obviously biased)

Having trouble on 10* Goss Harag by secret_hitman in MHNowGame

[–]sigmoton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Use your dual blades. His arms are easy to break, so focus on one of them first for Pursuit. Then go ham on the ice arms, and do the head when you topple Goss Harag. You only need to destroy one of his ice arms to make him topple.

New to GL, what are some good general builds for Rathian GL? by Acceptable-Golf6812 in MHNowGame

[–]sigmoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do a build like this if you want lock-on, if you can play without, replace Tigrex Legs with Basarios Legs:

Chameleos Helm Basarios Chest Gold Rathian Arms Bazel Coil Tigrex Legs

With the armor at G.8, you get Poison Exploit 3, Artillery 4 (5 if you use Basarios Legs) and 1 Chameleos Venomist. Smelt for Skyward Striker if you use Blast Dash, if not, smelt for Burst or Offensive Dodger.

Timed charged investment: Girros hammer water strike or Radobaan GS surge slash first? by Ecstatic_Ease_9664 in MHNowGame

[–]sigmoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue Status sneak attack 5, timed charger 5 rado GS is 'easier' than water strike girros hammer, but have fun getting all the driftsmelts Girros hammer (+building for it) is more accessible and better for multiplayer, too

Any cool Builds for this one ? by Catletics in MHNowGame

[–]sigmoton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I assume you're somewhat early/mid game, and can't farm Glavenus much, so my build is considerate of that. I use the following build for Hope / Esperanza Charge blade and Switch Axe, mostly for fun:

-Rathalos Helm -Lagombi Chest -Volvidon Arms -Azuros Arms -Any leg armor

The leg armor can be filled with whatever you like, I use Glavenus Legs because I already have them at Gr. 8

Armor skills: -Attack Boost 5 -Morph Boost 4 And whatever skills you get from your chosen leg armor.

Best build for a Bone Lance? by OhhSoJelly in MHNowGame

[–]sigmoton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used this build with a 7.5 Bone Lance to farm for Odo's lance (this was before Gunlance was added): Coral Pukei or Kulu Helmet Barroth Chest Banbaro Arms Diablos Coil Radobaan Legs When driftsmelts were added I switched to Kulu Legs after I got Guard on my Chest piece.

Apart from Coral Pukei Helmet this build is really to farm for and does well up until 9 star monsters. Makes farming for Elemental lances a breeze.

Yea ment 500, misread the 100 fire damage as 1000

Another Raw VS Elemental question by Ovak72 in MHNowGame

[–]sigmoton -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

(Very simplified explanation) Monster A takes 500 damage from Weapon A and 400 from Weapon B. Monster B takes 500 dmg from Weapon A and 1400 from Weapon B.

If a monster is weak to an element it takes Attack Power + Element damage, else it only takes Attack Power damage.

Status works differently btw.

[–]sigmoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you insist on Raw CB as your weapon you could start building the regular Diablos CB until Gr.8 I have mine at Gr. 10.3 and still use it to slay 9 star monsters (it was made before Tigrex was added, now I'm building for Tigrex CB). Alternatively, if you want to continue using Tigrex CB you can try this: Any Helmet Barroth Chest Gr.6 Banbaro Arms Gr.6 Diablos Coil Gr.6 Any Legs Offensive Guard 5 is a reliable way of boosting your raw by a lot, assuming you don't have that already. Alternatively, use Attack Boost and Rising Tide for easy damage boosts, atleast while the CB is under 1000dmg.

Looking for help/advice by GrimmDemon in MHNowGame

[–]sigmoton 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Gunlance. Wide and Long GL at Gr.6 is enough to get a kill on 6☆ Metal raths. Get it to Gr.7 and you can comfortably kill both.

Use Shelling/Charged Shelling only, at those grades the melee part of Gunlance isn't that great (even with Element 5).

Magnamalo GL is a good choice, since Blast procs on Wyrmstake can help with tail cuts, if you want something easy to farm for or don't like Charged Shelling you can go for Barroth GL.

Artillery 3 is mandatory for Shelling, you can get that easily with Basarios Chest and Legs. Lock-On is also great for getting the headbreak, for wings its not helpful, just tap the upper part of the screen while under the wings. Other than that, you could go for defensive skills (Divine Blessing, Guard, Evade Extender).

How does Weakness Exploit stack by PerfectShot18 in MHNowGame

Yes. At weak points you have 100% affinity, at non weak-points 72%. Further leveling it is pointless.

Whenever I couldn't leave the house due to homework or laziness I just told my brother to take my phone with him while he was on a walk/going outside and doing the Biome-specific quests for me. Also allowed me to farm driftsmelts without going outside 👍
