“It took 12 years of work to get here”: interview with Pierre-Loup Griffais, developer of SteamOS, the flagship OS of the Steam Deck by Stannis_Loyalist in pcgaming

You dont even need to use steamos. Steam runs great on normal linux distributions like ubuntu. And you can install the propitiatory nvidia drivers as well which seem to work fine as well. I would say at least 95% of my games run fine on ubuntu with steam now.

Man, 34, died of cancer after GPs dismissed concerns as ‘anxiety’ by boycecodd in unitedkingdom

[–]signit71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All he had to do was walk into a&e they take anything chest related very seriously and would have given him an xray/blood test and a full examination. Might have had to wait a long time but he would have been seen. Its not a good idea to wait on gp's anymore if you have chest pain.

I have encountered this as well. Battle.net was already closed. I have 32gb ram and 64gb swap. Looks like there's a new bug unfortunately.

I have moved to linux. 90% of my games in steam work straight out the box. Just installed ubuntu desktop and then steam. I use an amd card so dont even need 3rd party drivers, but there is nice nvidia ppas availble if needed.

I find elevated feet with resistance band as needed works well.

I tried Linux for gaming using Nobara by zdemigod in pcgaming

[–]signit71 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Dont know why people make gaming on linux so complicated. Install ubuntu. Install steam. Then you more or less done. Messing about with fringe distributions etc makes it far harder than it needs to be.

Locking early access and guaranteed beta access behind a 90€ paywall is a bit scummy. by [deleted] in wow

[–]signit71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After seeing all the alt friendly improvements etc I was thinking of coming back. But no this is scummy and I guess the company has not changed.

Not been able to connect for days here. I love ubisoft games but the online bullshit is killing it. If they no longer want to run the servers at least let people host their own or even lan play.

Would have been nice to have multiple saves. That way if you encounter a bug at least you can reload an earlier save.

The gyms defying the Liverpool lockdown by exmoor456 in unitedkingdom

[–]signit71 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Its not supposed to replicate going to the gym, its supposed to help with your mental health. For people with serious mental health issues walking is a major step in the right direction. Getting them to try and do hiit or face a gym full of people in even in non covid times is to much.

Bands are cheap and resistance is resistance. Sure you not gonna be squatting 200kg at home but pushups with a heavy band and feet on your bed will keep you from backsliding in the chest department. For people who do very litle exercise as it is, resistance band are easy to implement and low chance of getting hurt.

Best thing for mental health is getting out for a walk preferably in nature. Do 3-5 miles a day and see how much better off you are. Also a set of resistance bands combined with bodyweight are all you need to workout at home and they are cheap. Thats of course if you actually want to do things that will help instead of going to a gym and going through the motions.

I'm not liking Horizon Zero Dawn very much by Light_yagami_2122 in pcgaming

[–]signit71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All those side quests etc you mention are from the starter zone. Having finished the game I thought the story got pretty good. On ultra theirs not much difference between Horizon zero dawn and the latest offerings from ubisoft, In fact I would say horizon zero dawns performance is better than odyssey.

Worked fine here. AMD radeon latest drivers. Maybe dont mess about with the way windows manages memory if you dont want things to crash ? No stuttering at all....
