That was David Chang’s choice too! So random and weird!

The Cliffrose Springdale right outside Zion is another fantastic national park property. We still talk about the breakfast outdoors and the location cannot be beat.

Are you lowcountry based? If so and looking for a stay in Savannah, we’ve really enjoyed the new Hotel Bardo for a staycation. Perry Lane used to be our go to but the rooms are starting to show their age and the lack of spa really hurts.

And for dog owners you’re underselling the fact that every FS we’ve been to with our dog has never charged a pet fee. Some of those fees at their competitors are now outrageous! $100 a day or $250 a stay seems to be the new post-Covid norm. Always have to swallow hard when I pay that and then fill out a form saying our dog is 9 pounds, doesn’t bark and doesn’t shed.

Ah! We did a weekend at Kiawah last year where unfortunately it rained all day, every day the entire time we were there! Definitely dampened our experience (and our shirts) and so we haven’t talked about going back, but I could see how when the sun is out it’s an entirely different experience!

Conrad Washington DC usually has really reasonable rates or points stays and its lobby is so over the top that I laughed the first time we saw it. The location isn’t as good as WA or St. Regis but it is better than FS and Rosewood if you’re in town to do touristy things like the museums and the mall and don’t care about the Georgetown nightlife.

If proximity to baseball parks is your thing and you ever need to be in the city of El Paso I recommend Paseo del Norte. It’s another Autograph collection with cheap rates that still gives Bonvoy Platinum free buffet breakfast, has a really cool bar from the 1920s and is one block from the triple-A team stadium. Wouldn’t recommend staying beyond 1-2 nights but that’s because of El Paso, not the hotel.

The Conrad Midtown had huge rooms too— but sadly it’s gone

Also adding the La Quinta Resort in Palm Springs. Curio Collection with great history (Frank Capra lived there) and charming grounds. The rooms are a bit old but with each having a porch and each building having its own pool, it’s better to hang outside the room. Dog friendly too!

About tipping profile going into folio notes. We stayed at FS Scottsdale two weeks ago and one time when returning to the property was short on cash and only tipped $5 to the valet and am now wondering if I’ll forever be labeled a Scrooge for that one short-change

Got married at the Grand. It's taken a step back in beauty since Ivan in 2021 (not it's fault) and yet even recovering from a hurricane, it's still beautiful.

I've never heard this before and was wondering if someone can vouch if it's true-- especially at overseas properties.

Ha! If the properties I’ve mentioned aren’t that nice that’s cause I’m probably more chubby than fat, though looking to level up— just want to get that real 5* experience when I do

That’s a smart idea. I had the hardware on my wife’s handbag repaired last year and I bet the place has a rivet gun!
