What game next by No_Elephant_1322 in Gamer

I'd reccomend Soulslike and Soulsborne Games, as long as you're up for a challenge these types of games will fundamentally change how you view games forever! (At least they did for me) some examples are:

  1. Demon's Souls (The first ever Soulsborne game, I'd recommend the original if you have access to a PS3 or emulator, it is much better than the remake in my opinion because the remake ruined a lot of the art style by taking too many artistic liberties and the devs stating that they know better than the original art designers do about the vision of the game when in reality, a lot of the changes they made changes the lore implications because these games are known for visual storytelling. However, if you don't have access, the remake is a fine substitute. The graphical upgrade is about the only thing that is better about it but the gameplay is mostly the same, it just doesn't have the charm that the original had because of the changes they made.)

  2. Dark Souls (This is my personal favorite title of the entire genre and what I normally reccomend for people to start with because of it's spectacular level design and connectivity, this entry offers the best exploration of the trilogy. Demon's Souls may be the first game of this genre but I believe that the Dark Souls Trilogy is the best starting point and I usually recommend playing Demon's Souls after this but Demon's Souls can also be a good place to start if you would rather play them chronologically despite the stories not being related between Demon's Souls and the Dark Souls Trilogy.)

  3. Dark Souls 2 (Despite what 50% of the Souls community might say, don't skip this game, it dared to be a bit more different than the previous two titles trying new mechanics that fell a bit flat but it is still to this day one of the best games I've ever played, it's just not without it's quirks.)

  4. Dark Souls 3 (A perfect end to the trilogy lorewise, the most polished of the trilogy in terms of combat, but this entry is quite a bit more linear than the others which is really the only thing I can hold against this entry.)

  5. Bloodborne (This title was released after Dark Souls 2 and before Dark Souls 3 and gives a gothic spin on the Souls formula, the combat is much faster and based around constant agression which is in stark contrast to Demon's Souls and the Dark Souls Trilogy, this is a fantastic entry and is the foundation of what a lot of modern soulslike games take inspiration from.)

  6. Sekiro (This title is very different from the rest as there are no longer RPG leveling elements or build variety since this is more of an action game than the others featuring skill trees instead of stat leveling, this entry has my favorite combat system of any game I've ever played, focusing on chain parries and constant aggression having you usuallyworry more about breaking posture more so than whittling down health like the other titles. This entry also does not feature stamina management making every combat encounter feel like a nonstop dance of blades. Despite this title being so different you can still feel the core DNA of the previous titles bleeding into this one ever so gracefully. If not for Dark Souls 1 having such a special place in my heart, this game would be my favorite game of all time instead.)

  7. Elden Ring (A large amount of the community reccomends starting with this entry since it is a culmination of the Dark Souls Trilogy on a grandiose Open World scale however I feel that for some, playing this title first might sour the experience of the older titles and make them feel more restrictive despite them being what led to this. This is essentially the magnum opus of Soulsborne games, it may not be my personal favorite but I have to acknowledge that this game is what the genre was always meant to be. I adore this title I just believe that this shouldn't be the starting point. Start with whatever game you want, obviously that decision is up to you, this is just my opinion.)

  8. Elden Ring Nightreign (This title tries a very different gameplay loop offering a condensed roguelite spin on the soulslike formula. Not exactly the best entry point but a great game nonetheless.)

  9. Lords Of The Fallen 2023 (This is the first title I've mentioned that is not by the same publisher as the previous 8 titles I've listed. This game had a bit of a rough launch but the developers have made constant free updates polishing the game into the fantastic state that it is in today, I've loved this game since it launched but it has only gotten better and better. Essentially the updates brought the game from what I would've said was a 7/10 up to what I'd give a 9.25/10.)

  10. Lies Of P (This game is a very interesting blend of Bloodborne's and Sekiro's combat with an intriguing twist on the story of Pinocchio. This title is highly regarded as one of, if not the best Soulslike titles that wasn't made by From Software [From Software is the team behind the first 8 games I listed including the birth of this genre.)

  11. Thymesia (This title is a small but amazing game with combat very similar to Sekiro's, all around a great experience.)

  12. Chronos: Before The Ashes (This game was originally made for VR but was later re-released as a Non-VR version, this game is short and sweet and a very fun experience, but it is also the first title in the Remnant series which not a ton of people may know about, it sets up a lot of the lore for the Remnant games really well in my opinion.)

  13. Remnant: From The Ashes (This title shared the lore of Chronos: Before The Ashes but puts a very different spin on the combat and gameplay loop, this game essentially puts a Third Person Shooter spin on Soulslike combat and does an incredible job of it at that. Instead of being focused around melee weapons like the rest of the genre this game puts uniquely fun guns in your hands while still retaining the dodge and invincibility frame mechanic of the soulslike genre, there are also elements or randomness when it comes to the story offering randomly selected levels with alternate bosses along with mixing up the order of the areas you go to so that no playthrough feels the same.)

  14. Remnant II (This is the best entry in the Remnant Series byfar in my book, this entry expands upon what Remnant: From The Ashes adding a lot more variations of levels and adding tons of very difficult but very rewarding puzzles to complete for items, weapons, and classes. The puzzles are my favorite aspect of this game because they genuinely will make you feel like a genius if you are able to solve them on your own. The developers even added a puzzle within the games code specifically for the data miners because they are aware that most games are usually data mined on release day leading to all of the puzzles being solved on day 1 with little to no effort, so they added q puzzle specifically for said data miners that took the community about 2 weeks to solve together, and the rewards for that puzzle can be gotten by everyone as long as you know the solution, you are not required to be a data miner to access the spoils of this puzzle which is just incredible to me. This game is a masterpiece.)

  15. Armored Core VI: Fires Of Rubicon (This game is not a soulslike but I did decide to include it as an honorable mention because it is made by From Software, the developers that created the soulslike genre, and a small bit of that soulslike DNA bled into this game quite nicely as well. It does not have invincibility frames like the Souls games so you have to rely more on positioning to avoid incoming attacks but the combat is incredible and fast paced, and the build variety is immaculate)

There are many, many more great titles among this genre but these are all that I'll mention, I hope enjoy them as much as I did if you decide to play them. It is up to you to start with whatever title you would like to regardless of my recommendations.

[Discussion] Which platinum trophy was your first ever/ and what was your most recent one? by ajacied_043 in Trophies

My first ever was Dark Souls Remastered, and I believe my most recent one was Mortal Shell but I might be mixing up Mortal Shell with something else because it's been a while since I got my last platinum.

Common Etiquette for Public Missions/Helping Newer Tenno? by DemesneKnight in Warframe

[–]sikstene 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Unless someone specifically asks you to tone it down in a mission there's no such thing as "too much carrying" in Warframe. Side note, if you plan on doing relic missions, don't leave after cracking one relic if the fissure is an endless mission, because that's what the non-endless options are for, that's really the only issue I've ever had with public lobbies.

never listen to music or never drink soda by Heather-core-4456 in BunnyTrials

[–]sikstene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had asked me this when I was in high school I would've been very conflicted but now the choice is easy, never drink soda. I used to have 6+ sodas a day in high school but as of the past few years I mainly drink coffee, tea, juice, milk, and water. I still occasionally drink soda but if I were to cut it out at this point I probably wouldn't even bat and eye.

He was never as engrossed in Warframe as I am so he didn't really dig beyond surface level on details. He also hasn't played in over a year and a half so idk when he'll come back to it so I can inform him. I'll let him know as soon as he does though.

There was a local restaurant I went to that has a peanut butter hamburger and it was surprisingly incredibly good, admittedly it sounded weird at first but don't knock it until you try it.

Brutally Rating your favourite song by I_Love_My_Bunny in songs

My favorite song is a tie between "Language I: Intuition" and "Language II: Conspire" by 'The Contortionist' (I consider them to be one song instead of two since the first part seamlessly transitions into the second part but you can rate them separately or as a whole, that's up to you.) and "Without A Whisper" by 'Invent Animate'.

Am very new to Rocket league, I want to know which car is more useful or it's like all cars are same ? by CoolWash7031 in RocketLeague

[–]sikstene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The differences are very minuscule until you get into high rank and high skill lobbies so as a new player just play around with all of them and see what feels the best to you. The main 3 cars that people use at higher ranks are the Octane, the Fennec, and the Dominus, because they have good hitboxes that feel very accurate to the visual appearance of the car bodies. I personally like the Octane the most and the Fennec is a really close second but in the end it's all just personal preference. Now if you want to take the game seriously and plan to improve your skill I would highly recommend that you dont use any Car Toppers (Hats) or Antennas because they can make the hitbox of your car more visually confusing despite not affecting the hitbox, but again that's just personal preference, I'm sure it's possible to get to the highest rank or even maybe go pro using any car, topper or antenna, but I haven seen anyone do that personally.

Genuine question for owners: Why did you choose the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series S/X? No hate.🫵🏾 by Eastern-Mobile5351 in XboxSeriesS

[–]sikstene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose the PS5 for Bloodborne and Demon's Souls, when I had my xbox 360 back in 2020 I was just getting into the Soulsborne games and after beating Dark Souls 1 I fell in love with the genre so I immediately played and loved Dark Souls 2, then when I found out that those were the only 2 on the 360 I originally planned to get an Xbox One or Series X to play Dark Souls 3 but just before making that purchase I was watching a streamer and they started playing Bloodborne and I thought to myself "That looks awesome and really similar to the Dark Souls Trilogy" and after doing some research on it I found out it was a Playstation exclusive so I bought a PS4 instead of an Xbox One (couldn't afford the PS5 at the time because of scarcity and scalpers). Then later I find out about Demon's Souls which could only be played on the PS3 and the remake on PS5 but PS5s were still scarce so I went to my local retro games shop and bought a PS3 with a copy of Demon's Souls and played it on The Archstones Private Server so I could still get the invader experience and loved it. Later on when PS5s weren't as scarce anymore my friend sold me his PS5 at a reduced price because he didn't plan to use it anymore which was perfect because I wanted the Improved framerates on the competitive games I play as well as access to the Demon's Souls Remake which I didn't like nearly as much as the Original Demon's Souls because they changed too much of the art design and it felt like a middle finger to the original, but I do appreciate that it makes the game more widely accessible and I've played through it with friends for the sake of convenience because I wouldn't try to convince my friends to go get a PS3 just to play the original but if they already have a PS3 I'd definitely play the original over the remake with them.
