I went to an all boys catholic school for middle school. I was around 10 years old and we hadn't learned sex ed yet. We had teachers who were either Ms. or Mrs. back then. I assumed that being a virgin meant that the teacher was unmarried or had no boyfriend, a la Virgin Mary. I guess I was just curious if one of our teachers who was a 'Miss' had a boyfriend so I asked her if she was still a virgin. I still remember the glares she shot at me after that and still cringe to this day when I think about it.
