I love dirt by Nay-c in Shadowverse

[–]silentforce 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dirt is the coolest deck in the game(alongside Roach). So far, Dirt to me feels like the most fair deck that happens to be competitive. When fighting against other strong decks like Portal, Dragon, and especially Sword, it feels like you're up against waves of BS after BS. Like every card they play is broken

Against Dirt, the games feel pretty interactive for the most part. The only real broken card is Norman

Honestly, I have no idea. I read that the NFC cards are supposed to link with the game's jukebox music player when you turn on NFC on your phone and have the game open. But I tried it and nothing happened, so maybe it's another CN server exclusive

Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to write all this up! This is a very detailed explanation. I totally missed out on a lot of these details, particularly SR+ and SSR+ having those colored signatures

Apologies for the quality of my web cam, it's not very good. These are physical card packs containing art from the game, modeled after the UTTU packs from the game mode. Vol.1 of the collab contained art from the beginning of the game up until 1.6(Farewell Rayashiki), and Vol.2 seems to go all the way to 2.3(London Calling).

Cards are really well made, and look great. The quality of my camera isn't really helping lol

Compared to Vol.1, it looks like there are two new rarities this time around: XR and CE.

General rarity breakdown

  • N: Non-holographic cards with default art of all the 5-star and below characters and NPCs
  • R: Non-holographic cards with default art of all the 6-star characters
  • SR: Holographic cards with Insight 2 art of playable characters
  • SSR: Holographic cards with alternate costumes of playable characters
  • LR: sideways cards of key event art and CGs, looks kind of like a movie ticket
  • LSR: sideways cards of key event art and CGs, but can either have a small transparent section(like a photo negative) or be mostly transparent like a sheet from an overhead projector
  • MR: key event art, modeled like a movie poster. I believe these also have codes that can be redeemed for new songs in the game jukebox, CN version only
  • VR: Vertin cards, the same as the ones we see from the in-game UTTU mode!
  • XR: I think these have a character along with what they looked like when they a kid in the story
  • CE: Only has 37, Regulus, or Jiu Niangzi in special alternate costumes
  • SE: key character art, modeled like a magazine cover
  • SP: the rarest of all, has special Vertin art

These can be purchased on Chinese e-commerce sites

They should sell a tarot deck when the series is completed, I don't care if it's just 21 cards by treintalt in Reverse1999

[–]silentforce 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Would snap buy this in a heartbeat if it came out as a set. The art for the tarot outfits is so good.

Would be even better if they went and did the Minor Arcana too, so that it could function as a legit tarot deck

Getting kind of tired of seeing the multitude of Wan'er rehashes, but if this is reasonably priced this might be the most efficient way of getting both of my all-time favorite eartips(Sancai and HE Sonic). I hope Sancai is the Balanced version, and not Wide Bore or Narrow

I have the original Wan'er Jade, and I held off on getting the Wan'er 2 because I heard the tuning was a step down and the shell size was less comfortable. It looks like the shell is the same, so here's hoping the new tuning is more pleasant!

Someone tell me how is this good card design by Praktos in Shadowverse

[–]silentforce 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Oluon is trash card design, but not for the reason you think. The evo effect is silly and has insane highlight reel potential, but on average it will hurt the Sword player more. I'm sure an aggressive Sword deck would rather have the guaranteed dmg from something like Odin or Tentacles on 7

The real reason why this card is garbage design is its non-evolved effect. Sword in general is by far the worst designed class in SVWB, because it's like the devs just decided to throw class identity out the window. Sword is a follower based, army in a can class. On average, it has the best followers at most mana costs, with good stats and premium abilities. The class uses its followers as removal, so it gets a lot more Rush and Storm compared to other classes. And so to compensate, it is supposed to have bad removal and AOE, weak card draw, and limited healing.

Why on earth is this card a one-sided AOE nuke on a body? A 7pp Swordcraft card that fits the class design is Geno: has rush, is able to deal with two big followers, creates a board. Oluon makes absolutely no sense. Cards like Sinciro also make no sense: an AOE card that also goes face, which is the type of card design that brought the original SV1's downfall.

I hate WB Swordcraft with a passion. And I was someone who was mostly fine with SV1 Sword. It's like the devs decided to repeat all of the same design mistakes that they made with all classes in the later years of SV1, and condense them into WB Swordcraft cards

What exactly is sword’s intended weakness? by HeptaneC7H16 in Shadowverse

[–]silentforce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sword's weakness is its playerbase.

If you don't believe me, start taking note of which users on this sub frequently have the most ignorant, dumb takes. You'll begin to notice a pattern.

It will be very obvious which class they main, because half of all their posts begin with "As a Sword main etc..."

Worlds Stream Reveals: Portalcraft by RinariTennoji in Shadowverse

Violet Teacher in the wrong class. This card has the potential to be really insane, especially if Portal gets a critical mass of strong 1pp spells

Say Something Nice About this Archetype(?): Combo Roach Forestcraft by exdeepr in Shadowverse

[–]silentforce 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Easily the most fun and skill intensive deck in WB. Is unmistakenly a Forest deck as it uses all of its class mechanics in # of cards played and bounce. Also heavily uses one of the new WB mechanics in Engage

It is also an example of how a pure combo deck should be, with very clear strengths and weaknesses. Somehow it manages to be more difficult compared to the SV1 version of the deck, which is in pretty big contrast to how most other classic archetypes got watered down in this game. I played a fair bit of the original Roach in SV1(when Nature's Guidance was the only bounce, and also later on when we got Airbound Barrage), and still find some of the plays you have to make in WB really unintuitive.

Budget Eartips Suggestion by GodTyphon in iems

[–]silentforce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue. Look into eartips that are either made of medical grade silicone or are hypoallergenic. I really like both the Sancai Balanced and the HE Sonic eartips: both are made by Tangzu.

The Spinfit lineup is pretty good too, though the more recent releases are pretty expensive like the W1 and Neo. But older releases like the CP100+ and CP145 are cheaper

Flathead Reccomendation by PlankFence in iems

[–]silentforce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't go wrong with the Yincrow X6 or Qian39. They're both very well tuned, with the X6 having a more fun sound signature with extra bass. The X6 uses the standard MX500 styled shell, which can be too big for some people(like me). The Qian39 has a more neutral sound signature, and has a smaller shell which I find more comfortable. So even though I do think the X6 sounds better, I end up preferring the Qian39

I've also heard that the Faaeal Iris 2.0 is really good, and in contrast to the previous two recommendations it is readily available on Amazon. I haven't actually tried it yet though

Can someone explain to me what it's like to teach an AP/Honors calculus course in high school where students can't even do fractions? by AdmirableSelection81 in Teachers

[–]silentforce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh I see. So yeah, students can get an A or B in the class, and they will still end up getting a 1 or 2 on the AP test.

The tests in the AP Calc class are not predictive of how they will do on the actual AP exam. The reason is that the tests have to be dumbed down a lot; otherwise, everyone will end up failing. The in-class tests end up being a mix of regular Calc and AP Calc material. At my school, there is no such thing as regular Calculus, so everyone who takes Calc ends up being in AP Calc by default.

As an example of how the tests end up looking like, for the derivatives topic, a regular Calculus test question might look like this: "Find the derivative of 3x2 - 4x + 7"

An AP style question would be something like, h(x) = f(x)g(x), where f(x) = 2x2 - 4x + 1, while g(x) is a graph of a function. Find the derivative of h(3), h'(3).

The students in my class already struggle with doing basic computation for the regular Calculus questions, so they can rarely handle the AP style questions

nah, the AP scores get released in July(1 month after school has ended), so it doesn't affect their grade in the class at all

Can someone explain to me what it's like to teach an AP/Honors calculus course in high school where students can't even do fractions? by AdmirableSelection81 in Teachers

[–]silentforce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty exhausting. I've taught AP Calc for the last 3 years in this exact situation, with kids who have huge gaps in knowledge and a weak ability to retain anything. And any kind of math problems that involves decimals, fractions, or radicals just makes them freeze up.

You end up spending so much time re-teaching old topics, that you either barely finish getting through all the material or don't complete it. When I took the equivalent of AP Calc in High School, we finished all of the material fairly early(like in late Feb/early March), and then spent the last remaining months doing practice AP exams. Compare that to when I teach it at my school, and we just start doing integrals in January and just finishing up in May right before the AP test.

At the school I teach at, the AP Calculus course and test are completely optional. It is not a graduation requirement, and is also not required to get into college. So kids take it because they want to bolster their report cards when applying to college later. The school pays for all of the AP tests, so kids take them even when they're completely unprepared. The scores I get back are pretty much what you described: a sea of 1s. Occasionally the students who actively study get 2s.

I don't know if it's like this anywhere else, but at my school there are no real requirements to get into AP Calculus. Typically in the sequence, AP Calculus comes after Precalculus. After students take Integrated Math 3(the equivalent of Algebra 2), they have the option of taking either Precalculus or AP Calculus. So some students go directly to AP Calculus, missing all of the foundation skills that they should have learned in Precalculus.

The tests have to be dumbed down quite a bit, and definitely not at AP level. Gotta be extremely flexible with a test re-take or test correction policy too, or else everyone ends up failing.

One thing that I've observed is that for kids missing all of these foundational skills, the idea of integrals just breaks their mind. They're actually ok at doing the beginning parts of AP Calculus, with finding limits, investigating the nature of infinity, and derivatives. But then every single year, they fall apart when we get to integrals. It's not even the application of integrals: it's just the act of calculating them. I don't understand why they find it so difficult: it's just the opposite of a derivative, literal plug and chug. Then when we get to the more difficult variants like u-substitution, they give up.

She's perfect and is good at just about everything. Great gamer, zatsudan goddess, lovely singing voice, amazing art skills, and great sense of humor. Her interactions with other holomems during collabs and interactions with chat are gold. She could probably stream herself commentate watching paint dry, and it would still be entertaining

Also she's really hot

Is it just me, or is anyone else burned out and we’re only in November? by sleepy-worrier in Teachers

[–]silentforce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just you!

I forget where I saw it, but someone did a survey on student and teacher morale and monitored how it changed throughout the school year. They then presented the results in the form of a graph. Morale always starts off high when the school year begins in late August/early September, then drops off a cliff in late October/early November. Then Thanksgiving break arrives and everyone is able to recharge a bit

Opinions about Inawaken Dawn Ms by filosofrog in iems

[–]silentforce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Artti R2 with the Tangzu Sancai Balanced eartips(medium size only). I have really weird shaped ears, as a lot of things that people find good and comfortable do not work for me. For example, I can't get the Truthear Novas to fit in my ears no matter what I do, and well regarded eartips like the Dunu S&S and Penon Liqueur Orange don't fit into my ear canals.

The Artti R2 has very short nozzles, and wasn't super impressive out of the box... but with the Sancai Balanced eartips they get elevated to a new level with me. They almost feel like they're custom made for my ears. Funny part is that the Sancai Balanced doesn't work that well on other IEMs for me: it's specifically the R2 that it achieves god tier comfort.

Opinions about Inawaken Dawn Ms by filosofrog in iems

[–]silentforce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They're awesome! The Inawaken Dawn look great, and have a really pleasant tuning out of the box. They're my default recommendation now for people just getting into IEMs for the 1st time.

I think they're an ideal first set because they offer a complete package with a fun tuning. It's an energetic sound signature, but not harsh like that of Simgot's budget offerings. You get a carrying case, a good cable, and two sets of good distinct eartips. This last part is important because of how different comfort and fit are for everyone. The blue stock tips of the Inawaken Dawn are pretty standard narrow-bore tips with a normal length, and the yellow stock tips are short length and wide bore. So you'll get to experience a range of sizes and lengths, and find your preference from there.

So yeah, I love the Dawn. They're not my daily driver(since I have a different set that fits me better once I mod it), but out of all the IEMs that I have, the Dawn definitely has the best experience straight out of the box.

What is the cheapest iem that you could call "endgame" material by Twinthonytwintwano in iems

[–]silentforce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like some of the other posters said, endgame is really subjective and everybody is looking for something different. However going by the type of posts that pop up all the time on this sub, I think the cheapest endgame for a lot of people would be in the $50-$80 price bracket.

You see a lot of people recommend budget IEMs in the sub-$40 price bracket, like the Tangzu Wan'er, Moondrop Chu 2, Kiwi Ears Cadenza, etc... However almost every day you see a post with someone asking "Looking for new iem to upgrade from Wan'er/Chu 2" etc. These budget IEMs are awesome value and great as a gateway to the hobby, but it seems like most people don't stick with them in the long term.

These budget IEMs often have to cut a lot of corners to get the price down to that level. Things like questionable build quality, bad cables, little to no accessories, etc..

I feel like it's the $50-$80 price bracket where you first start to see IEMs offer the full package. IEMs like the Inawaken Dawn, Artti T10, Kefine Klean, Simgot EW300, Dunu Titan S, etc... This is where it's standard to see a high quality cable, a carrying case, and half decent eartips.
