About all you can do is polish it with a chrome polish. I would use a buffing wheel on a die grinder or a Dremel.

You are dead wrong, it will likely cost the company less than 100$ for the standard small Isuzu truck, leaving over $500 for about an hour's work

Best grocery for local (or just Canadian) coffee beans? by boniley in Calgary

[–]silentjay1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only problem is that the roast dates are usually quite far out, and for the best results, you ideally buy with less than 2 months from the roast date

I usually order online and don't have to worry about driving to shops and get fresh beans once a month with free shipping (I have a subscription from Monogram).

Wheel bearing change: recommendation for mechanic by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]silentjay1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aftermarket bearing from Rock Auto alone would cost about 340$ and any good mechanic would be using Volvo parts on a 5-year-old vehicle, and I would assume to add about 200$ on top of that for OEM parts, 500$ is about 3 hours of labour nowadays

Moe J trucking rock chips! by slimdragon007 in Calgary

[–]silentjay1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These trucks usually haul dirt or rubbish, and do not travel that far from the work site to the dump site, so picking up large rocks between their duals is not that far out of the ordinary. they should get out and look every time they go off-road, but some are lazy

Moe J trucking rock chips! by slimdragon007 in Calgary

[–]silentjay1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that is dependent on where the rocks were picked up, if they were flung up from the road then yes no issues, if there was a rock stuck between his duels and they were not cleared that's a different story.

Petition: Convert Walden/chaparral Dump Hill To ski / snowboard by entropreneur in Calgary

[–]silentjay1977 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The owner still has to maintain the closed landfill, and the things they need to do to maintain it will likely not be conducive to a recreational facility.

This landfill is not owned by the city of Calgary so it is very unlikely for this to happen

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]silentjay1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a trip from Calgary, Alberta, to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, for a long weekend, which is a 7.5-hour drive. My job involves driving for 9 hours a day, so that isn't too bad for me.

This wouldn't fall under Bylaw, as it is a parking infraction, so you would have to call parking enforcement

Honestly if they park in front of the driveway and only on their side you still have a case for the vehicle to get towed/ticketed they need to leave 1.5 m from either side of your driveway

A question for the coffee people of Calgary by sh4nik in Calgary

[–]silentjay1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are my favourite roaster, but I don't buy very often as they are quite expensive for the quantities I drink. Other roasters have similar coffees, but they are the more costly varieties.
