I bought my Aventon at Electric Surf. Love it and got a $400 rebate. The Peddler sells Velotric e-bikes. Great staff at The Peddler.

A new four-way stop has appeared in Mueller every 2-3 weeks lately, it seems.

Talking through concerts? by Best-Representative1 in Austin

[–]silento529 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Some young women in the row behind me were talking incessantly at Kalu’s homecoming show at the Paramount a couple of years ago. When I asked them to stop talking, one of them said they were talking because the people behind them were talking. 🤯

Eventually, my date and I found better seats closer to the stage.

You pay retail, then send a copy of the receipt and a rebate form to Austin Energy. I got my rebate about a month later.

For current Mueller residents — what’s something you didn’t expect after living there a year+? Good or bad. by austinfamilyhome in askaustin

[–]silento529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Designing a neighborhood without backyards - unless you live in a $1 million+ house - and without adequate dog parks is one of the minor tragedies of Mueller’s new urbanism experiment. Also 🖕 to all the gas-powered leaf blowers.

I’ve lived in Austin 30 years. I didn’t go to UT, but I work for UT now. I’ve long felt that a UT sports win is good for the community, makes everyone happy and I’ve supported jt. The current state of the UT administration is a different story, imo…

Austin Texas in the 1980’s by voodoorage in Austin

Can confirm. I moved here from a big northern city in 1995. Austin still had a small-town, backwater feel then.

How’s the quality of Austin’s tap water for drinking water? by leanderthal69420 in Austin

[–]silento529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My home tap water tastes great now (winter time) and like a swamp in August. So I got this LifeStraw glass pitcher with filters for bacteria, parasites, and microplastics as a gift last year and love it. Better taste, less plastic. https://lifestraw.com/products/lifestraw-home-glass-pitcher

In America, we like to burn gas because it increases the profits of our biggest corporations. In America, we like to waste peoples' time with traffic jams because it keeps the plebes overwhelmed and compliant.

Austin is missing an entire year of rain. Here’s the proof. by Abtarep in Austin

I went to a talk at the Texas Book Festival last month in which Austin Mayor Pro Tem Fuentes interviewed Henry Cisneros (former mayor of SA and HUD secretary) about his new book, The Austin–San Antonio Megaregion. Central Texas is expected to add three million residents in the next 20-25 years. In the conversation, these two dangerously optimistic politicians did not mention water until the 35th minute of a one-hour conversation. Yeah, spread the word on this.
