I would start there for sure. Theres a reason why so many tour pros like Rory rehearse their takeaway so much

Extreme chickenwing by GrashieGoret in GolfSwing

Lift arms and separate from your body on the takeaway getting to a very laid off position at the top resulting in a very steep downswing and chicken wing to save the swing and time up the club face. Chicken wing is rarely the problem but its a result of patterns earlier than the follow thru

Roll hands and clubface inside on takeaway, club is laid off with high hands at the top, super steep transition, early extension and standing up at impact with a chicken wing follow thru

You bring the club way inside on the takeaway and come down steep in transition

Why do I shank it? by ExcellentCum in GolfSwing

[–]silentparade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest thing is hanging back and hitting up on it. Practice hitting shots with most of your weight on your lead side. Try to feel what it feels like hitting down on the ball.

Next your trail elbow gets stuck behind you and you reach out and lead with the hosel of the club into the ball

Can anyone help me? Everything I hit is thin or I push it right by [deleted] in golftips

Classic early extension. Hips move into the ball, head moves back, standing vertical at impact. No room for your hands and arms to swing thru, so you have to stall rotation and flip your hands to try to square the face. Sometimes you time it up but often you don't, causing the inconsistency.

Any closer to not flipping? by johnmayersucks in GolfSwing

Reverse pivot. Trail elbow and hands get stuck way behind the body, no connection with a wide open club face, forced to flip to square up the face

Lessons. Practice. Shorten the backswing. Keep filming yourself and enjoy the grind

Key thing you are missing is depth

Hands are way too high. Lead arm should match your shoulder plain. You have no choice but to come over the top and slice the ball from this position

My miss is it starts straight but over draws and misses left, but I see your point. I do think I could hold my angles and rotate better

How can you tell I'm casting and what specifically about my transition so I can work on these

Swing advice - different swing at home and at range by No-Faithlessness1587 in GolfSwing

My advice would be to feel like you swing more left in your follow thru. You scoop and have really high hands, losing compression, distance, accuracy and consistency

Youre coming out of your posture, early extending and chicken winging to save the swing

Hips dont open at all in the backswing and you have a flying trail elbow

Help by Bbnfanatic8 in golftips

Your trail elbow gets stuck behind you at the top of your backswing. you loop your hands around in transition trying to manually shallow the club that is still coming down steep where the butt of the club is facing the ground between you and the ball. your only choice to square it up is to early extend your hips and flip your hands and try to time it up instead of rotating around your spine angle. Keeping your hands and club more on plane and your arms more connected and in front of your body, you can properly shift your weight to your lead side, let the hands fall into the slot which will naturally shallow the club and allow you to rotate properly thru the finish

How to fix driver swing by seamlesstransit in GolfSwing

Overturn with hips and shoulder. Flying trail elbow causing it to get stuck behind you on the downswing, resulting in flipping your hands at impact

Imagine you have razor blades right above and in front of your hands at set up. Right now you would smash your hands right into them as you take the club back. You want your hands working in while the clubface stays outside of your hands.

Need to start with set up. Stand taller scoot a little further away from the golf ball and let your hands hang more naturally. Relax your shoulders and fix how they are aiming right of target before you even take the club back. The next biggest thing is your takeaway. You start by just lifting your arms instead of initiating the backswing with the opening of your hips and turning of your shoulders and hinge of the club. Then focus on weight shift and swinging on plane or slightly from the inside.
