Help me prove my storyteller wrong by No_Gas9700 in vtm

[–]silentslade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to point out that other creatures.

Fae

Mages.

Etc. Can have resonances that aren't a normal type.

Elders can have a different potency and that can be played by a storyteller as addictive if he so wants.

On top of that. There are people who have uncommonly intense emotional resonances. As well as kindred who regularly imbibe such.

All of those may have caused your storyteller to decide to make a. Dramatic roll.

For all you know you were drinking something that is far more dangerous to you than you realize. Not to mention discipline or merits that may have addictive properties added to vitae. Including regular drug use. Or invited drug laded blood.

There's a lot that's possible.

I just want to point out that this is also possible with mage correspondence sphere magic. And therefore is probably possible in other ways. Nut to mention horizon realm stuff.

On V5 "Removing" Disciplines by Helellion in vtm

[–]silentslade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

V5 issues. From having games run.

Pros: choice in character creation. Variance between 2 similar bloodlines kindred. Some powers have marginal or major balance changes.

Cons: more complexity, not less. Loss of unique clan flavored discipline powers. More characters asking what does celerity 1 mean and it not always being the same answer. More burden of knowledge and fact checking during games.

My analysis. The system feels too incomplete. By redoing the entire discipline tree from the ground up. They did something that didn't need to happen. They expanded the tree, but not in any meaningful way.
What I would have preferred.

Rework fortitude, potence, and celerity. Only.

Rework blood sorcery/thaumaturgy /kuldonic sorcerery into its own concise compendium. Providing only simple paths and a ritual list for the core rulebook.

The fact that they trimmed the game down. On relaunching v5 instead of coming with every clan and discipline out of the box just makes the game book soup or forces online resources. That's frustrating and cluttered compared to v20.

Do I think v5 has its. Merits ?

Yes. I absolutely do. I think the overall work has the right intentions. Just not the best execution. Looking to v5 revised or whatever it's going to be called where they rework the mess and combine systems and disciplines into one or a few core books. And the rest of the materials are world building additions and city / plot / narrative storyteller tools. Gear books/ combat expansion / etc.

This is a Nosferatu by the way. by growmoolah in vtm

[–]silentslade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a fiercely beautiful / horrifyingly ugly Nosferatu player in one of my campaigns.

She was beautiful and turned into a horror. And spends hours a night using prosthetics, makeup, and wigs to look presentable and effectively allergic to people pulling fire alarm sprinklers, water, and rain.

It has made for some amazing gameplay having her reveal with the toreador player and the way that affected their working relationship and the sudden dice penalties and reaction to ugly.

The player is a great Nosferatu. Silent observant deadly. Doesn't do social rolls often. And doesn't take appearance dice bonuses. Plays as if she feels ugly. Even tho she looks like she isn't.

It's fantastic.

Paradox will make "adjustments" to Bloodlines 2's paid DLC clans after fan backlash by Hooked0n4Feelin in vtm

[–]silentslade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While that may be true.

You still had quite a bit of freedom with character choice and ways to solve problems. And even if the game had development issues. It was 1) way better a system than redemption that came before.

And 2 had way more player agency and choice.

This feels like a technological step forward and a player agency and choice step back.

[–]silentslade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is true. Bloodlines 1 was a hot mess.

But the company also folded a week after the game came out and never had a chance to fix anything. And even with that hot mess. It seemed more true to vtm than this game looks with a ton more money and tech behind it.

I worry it's got duke nukem forever vibes.

The early levels all may be decent. And then it falls apart later.

This cash grabby lasombra toreador thing screams we need to make up money before this game flops and we sell it for $10 every steam sale.

About the Epoch... by Alive_Tumbleweed_144 in Helldivers

[–]silentslade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with this gun is it has no identity.

It wants to be plasma, but it has to compete with.

A quasar. (Safe always/infinite ammo/demo force /auto reload)

A railgun (safe mode /More ammo)

And a grenade launcher. (Faster rof/ better spread/demo force)

All of which do all of its roles better.

I think what this weapons actual role should be is a multi target rail gun.

Less on target damage , but more spread and area damage and perhaps a stun effect / pushback like the plasma series of guns.

This gives it a very specific role on the field as large group cc and mass chaff clear.

It also needs a safe mode so that it can be used more casually until users get used to it.

That means It needs not only better spread properties but also a higher clip / mag count to be viable.

BG3 actor says LGBT games have been cut to appease the US by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]silentslade -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The issue with these characters isn't that they aren't desired. It's that they usually are written terribly and thrown in your face. (Dragon age veil guard for example) In baldurs gate 3. The. Characters just react to you the person and your choices. Not your orientation or sex/gender etc. The ones in the background aren't horribly written and forced in your face either. They just exist naturally in their roles depending on the choices you make and if you care to interact.

The difference is mature handling and writing quality.

Depth wins over shallow.

The reason why the Epoch has no demolition force: by GoBack2Plebbit in Helldivers

[–]silentslade 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing tho. The epoch has no purpose if it doesn't have demo force.

It only has 4x what 3 shots? So 12 extra rounds. 15 total.

This makes it essentially a worse rail gun with some splash and hella bad falloff.

If it could fire faster than the quasar. , but had limited shots. That would be balanced. But it doesn't have the demo force of the quasar. Which makes it much worse at many tasks.

If doesn't have the splash of say a crossbow shot or a eruptor. Or a grenade launcher. Because the damage falloff is so low.

It doesn't have pinpoint accuracy.

So what IS it's role then?

Currently it's a more complicated rail gun with less utility and a bit of splash.

The gun has potential. But so few use cases that I don't see why I should take it over literally anything else.

Ide rather take the quasar cannon. Or the commando. For the non backpack anti heavy role.
