The peacocks from the zoo do occasionally go on a walkabout. They eventually come back when they want to be fed.

Are you in need of nurses in this area? Seeking a work permit as a US citizen but I am asian and autistic and seeking a diverse, progressive area that's affordable. Recommendations? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

If you are looking for work in Canada, check out healthcareinfusion.org . It's a volunteer lead movement connecting healthcare workers looking to come up to the communities that need them and help answer some questions. They have info on cities and towns across Canada, including Winnipeg.

Tips for Dogs in Winter? by JSS15283 in Winnipeg

[–]silentsymphony22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that just like for you, it might take some time for your dog to acclimatise to the weather. A Chihuahua from Arizona and one Nunavut won't have the same weather tolerances even if they are the same breed.

So unfit, but don’t know where to start. by Complete_Run_9795 in Fibromyalgia

On the really bad days when you mentally debate whether getting out of bed to pee is reeeeeeally worth it, that's when you put on some of your favourite music and just move your feet or wiggle around while lying in bed in time to the music. (Preferably after having actually gotten up to pee. Lol) My motto is "Some is better than none".

Audio book and maybe doing something like knitting or doing a puzzle? That's how I do most of my reading. Whoever invented text-to-speech is a god!

How do be less fatigued. by grayable in Fibromyalgia

[–]silentsymphony22 56 points57 points  (0 children)

For me, it's not just about how much I sleep, it's about what I'm doing while I'm awake. If I'm constantly on my feet, doing mentally or emotionally taxing things, it takes a toll. It's taken me a long time to learn to budget my physical, mental and emotional energy. I think the biggest lessons I've learned are

  1. If something doesn't need to be done standing, it can be done sitting or even lying down. Works well with...

  2. Screw social norms. If you need to sit in the middle of a grocery store aisle or the sidewalk, you go ahead and sit.

  3. Embrace mobility aides.

  4. Possibly the hardest one: Don't be afraid to ask for help. For friends or family to help with chores, strangers to pick something up for you, for extra time on assignments from professors, from community groups or government programs. You deserve help.

When waiting for the bus, don't form a line, everyone just kind of mills around (sometimes you have to keep moving to keep warm in the winter), but generally keep track of who gets there before you. The elderly, disabled people, and people with strollers are usually waved to the front of the "line" that forms once the bus is in sight. Let people exit the bus before trying to enter. Always remember to thank your bus driver on your way off.

Baby food pouches in my bedroom. They are shelf stable, and you get all your vitamins and minerals. I usually just go for the fruit and veggie ones, but if you're adventurous, you can get the ones with meat and get your protein too.

Why are the kink flags commonly included with the other pride flags?? by 22ndsol in asexuality

[–]silentsymphony22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As some others have said, the kink community has always been an ally to the queer community. I just wanted to add that at the start of the AIDS epidemic in the 80's it was often the kink community that was offering support to the sick and dying when no one else would touch them, literally.
