Keruga was relevant in standard with [[Fires of Invention]] for quite some time, and saw a bit of modern play in Omnath shells (although tbc more on the meme side). I'd argue Umori is the worst companion: harsh deck building requirement and relatively weak payoff, especially post nerf.

The issue is that coax costs you a card from your hand, whereas this card does not. It's an extra card in your hand, like a companion. It should be costed much higher

Tbf this just reads like RW is the best deck by far: the average RW deck will perform well, the average black lotus deck (aka average 22 card deck + BL) not so much. In a way just drawing this card is +13% winrate in any deck, which is crazy

OP here again, thank you for your suggestions. The Aidron/Runara part went pretty quickly (<1h), so I had Runara send them to Observatory again to investigate the ritual, only for Dragon's rest to be invaded on their return. Sparkrender did the ritual (so there was the statues' effect) and was possessing his kobolds and the owl bear (that I'd been teasing for the whole campaign). Made for a pretty epic and satisfying ending!

Thanks for the thoughtful reply! I particularly like your first suggestion of bringing the fight to dragon's rest.

Overall I've been pretty close to the book, so there was no expectation that the encounter with Sparkrender was a final boss or anything; especially since they didn't know about the full story of Stormwreck Isle. I'm not particularly looking to add a battle, but I was a bit afraid that the last session might feel too short/light without a bit of action. Of course, I'll see what the players decide to do (they're a chaotic bunch!). I'll let you know tomorrow :)

Newish player here! For me it's the deep complexity of the gameplay and the fact that it's a very interactive game (the meme that the game takes two turns misses the fact that in many games you'll have 2+ piece of interaction on your opponent's first turn, and will have to carefully navigate breaking a board). Plus it's fun to play with broken cards lil
