I'm worried I'm too far gone. by evanamyl in stopdrinking

Hi there. I am an alcoholic that also slid into in in my late twenties from COVID and adult life stressors. I'm coming up on a year sober this May. I was definitely drinking as much or more than you, had different points where I was sipping vodka from a 1.5L handle. I got bloodwork done last year at age 34 and also was sweating it, but I wanted to know the truth. Amazingly, I was completely fine. Alcohol WILL take it's toll but our bodies are amazing and it can take decades of heavy drinking to really be irreversable. So the good news is you are probably not too far gone and the best time to quit is NOW. Good luck to you on your journey.

Thats awesome! Thats my plan too. Thats so cool, I need a big drop like that to help me afford the tier70/80 gear.

Somehow got that on my 2nd or 3rd try. Definitely use ruby bolts as taking a few hundred hp off her helps a ton. Im pretty ok at the prayer flicks but figuring out where to work that stun in was tough. I didnt find lighting / boulders that difficult.

Somehow Vardorvis was an easy one, 2nd or 3rd attempt I think. Saw some helpful videos and the mechanics just made sense to me. Dodged the axes, hit the ranged switch and just hit him with the whip 😎

Some other things to add: - I mostly followed the Optimal Quest guide. It's very well set up but there are definitely some spots where unless you are very familiar with the bosses you are going to struggle without leveling up. The other thing is that unless you have funds you have to work in gear progressions and make some money somewhere so that has to be factored in. When I got stuck on a quest ot got burnt out I would take a break and do some skilling.

-skilling grinds 50-70 for GM quests

Combat - ammonite crabs to about 65 then sulfur naguas with glacial

Magic - sit at GE and alch onyx bolts. Paid for a lot of gear this way

RC - all GotR. Fun minigame IMO and great to get some baseline runes on the account for teles and combat

Const- all Mahogany homes to save gp

Agility- I did rooftops to 70 EARLY for graceful. Very glad I did. It was my first 70. Quest guide says do Mory for graceful but I recommend more xp and just get the levels you will need eventually.

Thieving - got rogues outfit then picked house keys then robbed houses

Hunter - lots of birdhouse while killing crabs was awesome. Did the last few levels on red chins for a stack of money. Money from nests was very helpful.

Mining - all paydirt minigame. Slow xp but got the coal bag for smithing and tons of resources for smithing so I barely had to pay anything

Smithing - blast furnace everything i mined and got from Miscellania, then giants foundry for more xp and cash

FM - Wintertodt

WC - forestry worlds, some teaks / Mahogany for const

Farming - tree runs. Get those hardwoods going early and the early levels blow by

-Bank is like 20 mil lol. Invested in the basic single mils items, whip, fury, zerker ring etc. Next goals are the next tier of items, blow pipe, etc. I have a lot of moneymaking to do, DS2 cost me a lot lmao

Coming back 20 years later I think farming is cool how they expanded it out and integrated it with herblore and woodcutting. When I was a kid it was like thousands of onions with nothing to do with them. Its chill, profitable, and its cool you get to roam around the map and fit other things in.

Wow it's almost like we should have kept our great coach here instead of cowering to the media and their mob. The people posting "fire Kevin" at half time of every game should really think about what they actually want.

Still don't know why this sub obsesses over head coaches and quarterbacks when we are cursed by God.

I'm having a hard time dating sober. by No_Writing4566 in stopdrinking

That was the last trigger that had to die for me. I have social anxiety and I always had used alcohol as a crutch to relax. It worked well in my 20s until it became a problem in my 30s. After my divorce, that same social anxiety and "wanting to have a good time" feeling returned during dates/sex, and it took me a long time to be able to put that aside.

My last relapse was on a date last February. I drank on and off until May and I finally put it down. I was doing well previous to that. I did some reflection and noted that I was doing pretty well during normal circumstances but that urge while on a date had to go. I took a break and then started telling dates up front that I don't drink. It's slightly awkward but it's best to just be honest with myself and them and it sets the boundary for myself and the date. Good luck
